“give us money to use a feature that used to be free and included within the base games of previous gens” is becoming one of my least favorite recurring patternsMore apparel, hairstyles, picnic supplies are available in the Kitakami Center.
they literally have nothing else to show lol the rest of the demo talks about extremely minor shit like getting your Pokémon to notice you in photo mode and very basic difficulty-select modes for the recycled Arceus bike racesFor some weird reason it was pointed out that you can now rearrange the chairs when you set up a picnic.
I don't think so, but perhaps someone else would have a better answer. There's a lot of details that you'd think would be in the games by now but aren't. It did take until gen 6 to have real trainer customization, and even then, that was supposed to be a gimmick unique to Kalos until popularity brought it back to some extent. So question. Is there anything in these game's coding that make it so they can't have a skin tone slider? You'd think with how they've been embracing the global market since the 3ds era that they would put that in.
Honestly without knowing the inner workings of all the companies attached, my only reasoning is that Game Freak are just bad developers. I mean people want to complain how much worse they are now, but I’ll contend that they have always been bad at their jobs since day one.So question. Pokemon only got as big as it did because of Satoru Iwata fixing their shit to make them look good. Throw in that most Japanese artists want to do nothing but draw porn all day and you have modern game freak and no decent original pokemon since sun/moon.Honestly without knowing the inner workings of all the companies attached, my only reasoning is that Game Freak are just bad developers. I mean from what I can tell the best parts of S/V we’re the Pokémon models which I believe was handle by Creatures Inc. then just look back at the history of the franchise and see how broken their games were, getting away with it mainly because they were on a handheld system.
Like being frank I actually do enjoy S/V in spite of how badly programmed and designed they are. I just think like any other developer within Nintendo could make a better game than GF ever could. Because you can’t use the Switch is weak line, when Monolith was able to make Xenoblade X on the Wii U. A game with a much bigger world, with more going on, with better and more varied movement options on the Wii U of all consoles.
I mean that’s a 100% prove able untrue statement, Iwata is only on record as helping with Gold and Silver but your just a liar if you don’t think Pokémon wasn’t already bigger than Jesus with the first games. So no they succeeded on their own merits, the issue was their own merits weren’t even good considering how fucking busted all the gen 1 games were.Pokemon only got as big as it did because of Satoru Iwata fixing their shit to make them look good. Throw in that most Japanese artists want to do nothing but draw porn all day and you have modern game freak and no decent original pokemon since sun/moon.
The series would be better if they stopped with the stupid generational gimmicks no one cares about and went back to more new pokemon with each generation and longer postgames.
Is there something in the water that's making you guys sperg out about the company's failings from around 30 years ago?Pokemon only got as big as it did because of Satoru Iwata fixing their shit to make them look good. Throw in that most Japanese artists want to do nothing but draw porn all day
They can't fix modern Gamefreak so some take to complaining about past Gamefreak. The process is natural and doomed. Looking for the source of a problem in the hopes that a solution will reveal itself, but the problem and any potential solution is so far removed due the corporate structure that people get stuck in a loop eternally evaluating the failings of every era of the series. Is there something in the water that's making you guys sperg out about the company's failings from around 30 years ago?
All us Pokespergs wish it has always been better than it actually is, but can't ever quite get the blame just right. Some say it's always been bad, some say it's always been good, the truth is somewhere on the spectrum between that and one's own rose-colored glasses. Is there something in the water that's making you guys sperg out about the company's failings from around 30 years ago?
Which is why I just crack open an cold one and watch the franchise burn, nowadaysbut the problem and any potential solution is so far removed due the corporate structure that people get stuck in a loop eternally evaluating the failings of every era of the series

I agree, people go on and on about gen 1 being busted but the truth is subsequent gens had bugged or broken mechanics that they never fixed in the third versions, gen 5 is the one gen where no bugs come to mind and most mechanics function as intended.I’m just saying Game Freak has always been a kinda of shitty developer with very visible issues from the start. That’s really it, I mean im not doom and glooming because I still enjoy the games. They have huge problems that have no reason to be there that most developers would’ve fixed by now but I still enjoy their products.
I think the reasons why GF hasn't been putting out bangers lately is because they still haven't gotten over the growing pains of switching from 2D games to 3D games and poor management of its developers, I remember reading something that said GF was prioritizing original projects over Pokémon-related projects.I’m just saying Game Freak has always been a kinda of shitty developer with very visible issues from the start. Eh, I take issue to the “three quests” thing, while it is true you’re allowed to do it in any order the levels of each area’s Pokémon still follow a very clear order.Mind you, I enjoyed SV, I liked it much more than sun and moon (the last mainline games i played before SV) simply because of how truly open it is: you have a short intro at school then you are introduced to the three "main quests and you're good to go. I feel like this time they truly tried something new and the execution wasn't awful
I think it’s just poor management of the devs and outright incompetence. Even when they were putting out bangers, you could always see cracks in the facade in one form or another (gen 3 removing day/night visibility despite there still being day/night features + Altering Cave, gen 4’s atrocious engine alongside its release-date delay and terrible balancing, gen 5’s removal of several features alongside it reusing old sprites for animating almost every old Pokémon). I don’t think a studio of their size was ever fit to handle such a gargantuan marketing machine as this- especially not the primary cog keeping the whole thing chugging along.I think the reasons why GF hasn't been putting out bangers lately is because they still haven't gotten over the growing pains of switching from 2D games to 3D games and poor management of its developers,
That’s from an interview with Masuda in 2014-15ish, I think. I remember it from being around there because I know it was right after ORAS released.I remember reading something that said GF was prioritizing original projects over Pokémon-related projects.
That’s all pretty reasonable, like I said I wasn’t too disappointed with S/V besides a few things here and there and most of my problems came from the technical side of things. Honestly if you’ve seen the concept art that came out a few weeks ago I think they need to start doing that. A main line Pokémon game with the aesthetics of Ni no kuni and Wind Waker, would be *chefs kiss*. Though that’s just my opinion, I know there’s some people that want more realism and etc from the games.I think the reasons why GF hasn't been putting out bangers lately is because they still haven't gotten over the growing pains of switching from 2D games to 3D games and poor management of its developers, I remember reading something that said GF was prioritizing original projects over Pokémon-related projects.
That said I think the issues with SV had more to do with the pandemic (I can feel you groaning and eye-rolling from here) and it forcing several developers to move to a “work from home” environment, I know the Smash Bros. Dev team was forced to do that during the development of its second set of DLC characters and it’s part of the reason why Steve is busted.
No hate towards them lol, I just thought it was significant since gen 1/2 didn’t have much like that. When gen 4 had something similar happen with the Azure Flute it definitely seemed to be continuing on from Altering Cave, anyways.Ehhhh I wont give them much hate for not doing anything with Altering Cave. I mean even the best devs have tried to add things only for something to get in the way of things.
I have no idea what you’re talking about and now I’m interested. I know it’ll make me even more disappointed in the state of the franchise… but I’m curious, damn it! Let me seeHonestly if you’ve seen the concept art that came out a few weeks ago I think they need to start doing that.
