Should sticker notifications be brought back?

I had closed this tab to cool off and do something else. I got a notification (quote). I came back to the thread to see what's new. What a wonderful system!

If only there were other real-time ways to drive interest back to threads you recently visited, that didn't require a direct quote or cramming it onto a cluttered watchlist. Now, I would be a real asshole if I demanded Null create that system out of thin air. But just imagine the world where such a system already existed, free of charge, just waiting to make life a little more pleasant for everyone on the site.
inb4 "brigading" becomes an issue. And I get nostalgia about updoots or gold being given by kind strangers.
I understand I am known for only one thread and you are being deliberately dumb and assmad but I post in multiple subforums all across the site and never ever had an issue finding something again. I think you're just better off on Twitter or Reddit maybe if a forum is too complicated.
No offense but lolcow general, maybe games for a bit, and mass debates doesn't come close to the amount of shit we have to keep track of.

To use an example at minimum I'd "watch" every community happening that's happened the past few months. Literally every vaxnigger thread. All the incel/femcel threads. Then like half of internet tough guys, then like a couple dozen in the other internet whatever, maybe a few in AC, and a fuckton of shit in prospering. This is the minimum - again, because before all this shit I was looking at keffal's/ralph's orbiters and somehow ended up in community watch. Or that one time I looked at everyone's profile shit in the incel/femcel threads and ended not only in stinkditch. But found out one of you is a lolcow herself.

I would then be inundated by furrries LARPing and some retard calling someone a whore five times in a row for "watching." Or the usual sperging.

To make no mention we already know you'll support whatever dear feeder does because you want him to dick you. So.

Notice how they keep trying to frame it as being about score stuff, I bet most these people are just butthurt they can't get asspats everywhere they go on the forum.
(Cause I've def seen them get their asses handed to them in A&N, like HHH who basically started the whole "THEY ARE MAD ABOUT STICKERS" shit... even though he was mad about all the tophats he got for his Covid and Trump insanity)

I thought maybe something was lost in communication since they keep trying to frame it as sticker cope.

But so long as everyone understands where the other side might be coming from, so we dont squabble and fight on the same points again and again, Im good ending things for today to pick up later.

And admittedly, I was being very silly and flippant at some point today, and couldnt fully articulate why I appreciated notifications over watching threads past a desire for convenience.

Hope to touch base later down the line to write a solid case for notifications.

He's also being a tunnel visioned retarded developer.
Not that you'd know, but I clicked "agree." @Null is seriously ass-mad that people don't want to use his clunky, more-than-one-click secondary features to navigate his brobdingnagian forum, so he lashes out and says, "Nooooo, nigger-child, you shall use the clunky tools I have laid out for you. Enjoy watched threads, nigger." Then removes a widely-used feature instead of, y'know, inquiring why his other UI tools see no play by comparison.

I would be still be irritated, but ultimately ok with the decision if he also replaced the feature with something as convenient. Making rating notifications off by default would have also been a good way for people to learn that there are features beyond the bell icon (I also think that Null severely overestimates the demographic of users that do not know of these other features). But no, just rip shit out because you got a wild hair up your ass while fixing an unrelated issue and because you don't use it personally.

tl;dr Null's a faggot who doesn't realize that a site admin's experience is entirely different to that of the average forum user's experience and is now ripping out UI because a handful of retards aren't using the UI the way he wants.
Guess I will be taking a break from the farms then. Consider it my form of "protest" but then again, he can just see the lowered engagement as the "dopaminine retards" just leaving the site and how thats a "good thing".

Bruh, come on, thats progressive talk.
Jersh will absolutely rationalize it that way. I probably won't be engaging much just because I don't want to flip between multiple tabs or navigate away from my current page while on a phone because I don't have the luxury of sitting at a desktop all day for my job.
There wasn't an option to switch it off before?
Wait.. do people really care if they get stickers that disagree with them??
There's an entire thread still active and spanning multiple years dedicated to roasting @thegooddoctor for being a faggot about stickers.
So if less people post because of the cumbersome UI, Null sees that as a win. And if traffic stays the same, Null sees that as proof it didnt matter?

A bit of a lose-lose scenario, there lol
Someone should make Null a Rationalization Hamster he can bring up in his segments where he twists himself up in knots defending his retard takes.
i'm sure all the threats-by-proxy and insinuating stuff about his mentals over needing to click one extra time will reverse the decision. it definitely doesn't sound like you're in withdrawal from the thing you absolutely don't care about
And you're clearly addicted to replying. Maybe you need to have to click into your profile tools to see who replied to your posts. Let's get rid of all notifications. Fuck notifications. They're just a dopamine feed, anyway.
The biggest crybabies about it were the likes of HHH, I rarely saw anybody from the right get butthurt about it. It was always people that had stupid left-wing takes getting mad about the reacts. Everybody involved with that shit was making up stuff cause they wanted A&N removed from the site.
I am genuinely saddened that @HollywoodHulkHogan wasn't playing a character role of the forum heel as a gag and all that ass-mad posting was legitimate, seething butthurt about current year politics. It's like the only wrestling joke I've found amusing in years and now it's gone.
More sperging about stickers and sticker notifications ensued and then Null decided to go full Jihad on the sticker question:

The thread got completely derailed, 1 gorillion new threads about stickers and sticker notifications got created and some other threads got derailed too.
What a faggot.
I can't wait for Friday's MATI about this.
I have never felt so out of touch, I thought people getting mad at receiving negative rating was a meme. :cryblood:
It is. Null is nailing a widely-used feature to a cross and lighting it on fire to spite a handful of faggots who couldn't handle being on the Internet. The forum has an extremely healthy culture of mocking people who care about updoots.

Okay, here's my two cents.

The thing about being able to see another user's reaction score is that it gives you an idea of the general quality of their posts and their community standing. You have to actively try to get a negative reaction score here, that's the truth. We all know it. So, if someone has a negative reaction score and a somewhat-high message count, you can recognize that user as being either a troll, a retard, or perhaps both.

I don't see the need to fix what isn't broken. Removing reaction score was a solution to a problem that, let's be honest, you gotta be retarded to have in the first place. Sure, the problem was there, but we need to ask a pertinent question here: if you refuse to input your thoughts because you're afraid of your reaction score getting dinged, should you really be on the Farms?

I get why @Null did it, but the cons outweigh the pros. Simple as.

EDIT: Here's something I just realized: if taking away reaction score is necessary to give internet spergs a safe space to share their thoughts here, then what's the point of the pink triangle?

I also don't mind the two-click system. Separating reply/watched thread notifications and reactions was a good idea. Taking away the ability to see another user's reaction score wasn't a good idea.

mixed messages here

whoah it's like the exact thing I said to you except you've forgotten it was a reply to your dismissiveness in the first place.
can't wait to find out if the art of following a conversation comes back to kiwis now the drip is cut off and the reward for hit-and-run reaction farming is gone
There's always been an automatic feature and a button for that. Some of you nerds really gotta read the announcement thread: https://kiwifarms.st/threads/private-direct-messages-chain-spam-issue.185223/page-63#post-17883282

And now you might have to actually read threads in general, owned.

my nigga, you forgot this

Keep going and you will have the whole puzzle set of the autistic Mona Lisa

This is now the only way that any of these posters will be informed by the site of what users think of their posts, unless they autistically go back on every post they have ever made just to see if it got some stickers.

As you can see, this greatly improves the forum experience.

If you want "fire and forget" posts that disappear into the abyss, there's imageboards for that.
This post was quite informative. Thank you for illustrating the utility of reaction notifications in reducing redundant posting.

This is my stance on the entire thing, too.

There was nothing wrong, so why change it?

The very first question I had in my mind was why Null couldnt just leave notifications alone, and just remove the sticker score, but his explanations didn't make a whole lot of sense, and he wasn't receptive to elaborating much further.

The site is owned and controlled by an authoritarian ruler who put his entire life into it.
Deal with it. You're owed nothing.

More like Agenda21Poster...
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN THE TERMINATION OF INDIVIDUALS OR GROUPS OF FORUM USERS.
Failure to return my CoachCoins will result in me getting under your car with an angle grinder and stealing your catalytic converter.
Now that I think about it, how will we keep track of profile posts? There's no way to 'watch' someone's profile and IDK if stickers there show like forum stickers.
I honestly don't know if stickers there or in PMs counted toward your sticker total. Maybe a janny can lend some insight?

The fun part is that I was using sticker notifications to be reminded to call him a bitchmade queer through the years whenever he eventually returns there.

I guess I won't know when he's on his upteeenth sock this time. To destroy Catler, Felix won :(

Guys, we are talking about stickers when we should be talking about our LOTY, Nicholas Robert Rekieta.

It's been interesting watching Nick's rise and decline, a story as old as time.

Null Nick creates a small but loyal community willing to support him
Null Nick gets in a little over his head and requests support from his community
Null Nick receives more support than he initially expected
Null Nick decides to start making rash, retarded decisions
Null Nick gets mild push-back on his retarded decisions
Null Nick doubles down on his retarded decisions, convinced that he couldn't possibly be wrong and other people just don't understand social cues
Null Nick puts in extra effort to damage his own community more out of pure pettiness
Null Nick tells dopamine retards incel prudes that they can fuck off and go somewhere else if they don't like it

It sure would be embarrassing to be Nick.
