PS3, Vita, And PSP Stores To Be Permanently Closed In A Few Months - fuck game preservation lol - Sony

Bit of an update, it's the old versions of the phone app and the web store that are going offline, they were already replaced by newer versions earlier last year and you can still buy shit on the PS3 and Vita.

They just took the old webstore down today. Being that there will be no interruption of service there was no reason for notification to go out.

So not as bad as we thought?

I've had a hacked Vita since around the time Henkaku was released but I really wish Vita emulation was more of a thing, especially now. Would put VPK files into use, finally.

Yeah this doesn't look like it's going to turn out to be anything major. There's some stuff that's harder to find on the console stores than the original web store, but being that they have to give bare minimum 6 months of warning, this was more or less going to be something very minor.

However it's looking like PS 1, 2, and 3, Software Emulation for PS5 may wind up being a thing in the end. So from a preservation standpoint they're at least dumping resources into that.

That’s a great deal of relief.

This isn't even a real story don't panic buy shit, it's just hearsay at this point with no further facts coming from the source and the source themselves now being oddly silent.

Remember traditional journalism doesn't even work anymore. They're not checking for facts if the story gets enough clicks.

This is how a fake story gets picked up by news outlets and pushed without checking to see if the facts are correct.
I'm starting to see a pattern that everytime Marissa Moira start to damage-control pretty hard over a rumor that is putting Sony in a bad light, it's likely to happen (first Japan Studio, now this)

Yes...

For now.
Well if they ever futz with the trophies that screws with the PSNow services. The rumors escalated to the point where stuff from a technical standpoint made no sense.

Also I don't get why so many people are upset, how can the storefront being taken down be significant if the PS3 has no games to begin with?

Seriously though, there's quite a few ps3 games that had no digital release and are disc only, now those games go for a fucking buttload on the secondary market

They need to overhaul the browser version of this fucking store. The add-on section specifically. When I click that fucking link I want to see what new add-ons came out this week. Maybe that prime minister of Poland dropped for Tekken or something. But no, it's only ever this

I don't own or play any of these game and they are the only things it shows

The shitty part of this is that they killed the old store on PC finally. You used to be able to use a specific link to get to the old store and use it to get your download links but now you can't, so anything you buy over the next few months can't be archived easily unless it's already on one of the PSN alternative sites. Hopefully someone will code extensions for the PS3 or Vita to extract the links for archival.

At least the CDNs will stay online for some time if they're keeping up redownloads.

Because it's a problem affecting everyone, including pirates. We won't lose access to the server (yet) but what hasn't been contributed to NoPayStation won't be able to be contributed once they stop us from acquiring a license past the limit date

Don't call it a grave, this is the all digital future you chose.

People didn't even make this big of a deal when OG Xbox Live and Wiishop closed and they're letting you still keep your games like the wii did, like damn I'm hoping this starts to force companies to test and implement their end of life service plans. Steam claims to have one, but it's all theoretical and they've never actually done a widescale test of it.

This will be quite interesting to watch, we're most certainly in uncharted territory.

Muta's take
Fake and gay he calls himself a Wii boy but then lists the SNES first and says it like a filthy yank by saying the letters and not the proper pronunciation of "SNIZZ". The Queen should have never lifted her thumb off of that godforsaken hellhole of a country.

The one thing he left out was that you can reset the new cmos battery time through normal wifi or lan and it doesn't require access to PSN. A normal internet connection will restore the time and unlock shit. Because the video he shows, they manually set the time, but there's an option to have the system automatically set the time.

Another issue is is that all current SSDs have a finite limit of rewrites before they fail and only last around 8-10 years. So that would affect the PS5 since currently the base SSD is the only storage option.
