:powerlevel: I tried poking around in these communities a few years back, expecting to find some like minded people who wanted to vent about things such as family members who want to live vicariously through you and refuse to understand you don't want to give them grandbabies. Instead it's just shit like "HOW DARE THESE MOMBIES TAKE THEIR CROTCH FRUITS OUTSIDE I HATE CHILDREN"

You can count me in there too. I got an invite to one such board after posting something (Forget what) on a work-story site that must've involved kids misbehaving. I decided to check it out, and left never to return in all about 15 minutes, the first 30 threads on the page were basically "DIE you subhuman breeders, and take your crotch drippings with you!"

That specialized denigrating terminology was repeated with cultlike glee and conformity that genuinely scared me.

Yeah, these "childfree" places wouldn't be nearly as bad if the bitching was confined to unruly children and useless parents. I think even people who adore children will agree that there's nothing worse than a child acting out in public (especially if the parents aren't even attempting to discipline them). Not only is it annoying, it's very frustrating because children are the future and nobody wants the next generation to grow up to be a bunch of assholes who never learned to behave themselves.

But if you actually browse through childfree forums, you'll notice that a lot of people complain about kids who really aren't that bad, if bad at all. They seem to believe that children shouldn't be allowed in public ever and throw fits if they're forced to be in the presence of a child. Kids are fucking everywhere; if you can't deal with that, it's your problem.

Probably.

I mean, I get it, I don't particularly like kids and don't want any of my own. But I'll still step up and babysit for friends when needed because that's part of being a decent human being ffs.

Maybe it's some kind of evolutionary thing. The people who are triggered by the mere sight of an infant are the ones you REALLY REALLY don't want reproducing.

The way some go into over-graphic detail about having nightmares where a pregnancy eats away at them as if it were a cancer makes me believe some people just have that bad a visceral reaction to the idea of giving birth.... but the sane and smart ones know that's just how they feel and don't put the triggering blame on the rest of the world every time someone reproduces.

Ah. CF. I remember the horror stories of shitty kids and bad parents being realistic and, you know, ones that actually happened.
They went from "okay that thing is weirding me out man it's like the fucking chestburster from Alien and it won't stop screaming" to all caps "Die Children scum" pretty fast, didn't they? I mean I like hyperbole galore for irony, but the stories now are just ridic.

-I wonder if the advent of SJWism and their rage is what caused the sudden turn.

Nah I've seen fags like these even before the current halcyon days of the soc jus scene. The kinds who will sit there and seethe when they see some kid talking about whatever the fuck with his parents because he's being too loud or something. Then go home and bitch on the internet about how more restaurants should just now allow children.

It's probably just a phase with most of these people.

I notice a lot of people who decide they don't want kids tend to hyperfocus on bad behavior of children, and only acknowledge when a child is being a nuisance. And I'm pretty sure they're unknowingly doing it as a coping mechanism for the fact that deep down, maybe they'd like to be a parent.

The internet made everything more extreme. Support groups gave rise to internet "communities" with more people. It is more difficult to get same level of attention in large group. Extreme was the only way to stay above everyone else. Good trolls exacerbated the problem.

Some people are just crazy and obsessive though. They can't be halped.

They should just be glad the kids happy and not being an unhappy brat, sonic tumblr shrieking its displeasure to the world for attention of any kind like a tumblrina would.
