I don't think he was, really, although it depends how you define A-Log. When I think "A-Log", I think of people who blindly wish death on Chris for basic reasons; he lives on welfare, he's fat and autistic, he shits his pants, he drinks semen Fanta etc. Clyde, on the other hand, did a lot of very cleverly planned out things to screw with Chris because it's funny, rather than because of some death wish on Chris. Where Clyde gained access to sonichu.net in order to get Chris to produce the infamous "I'm guuuuuhhhhay" video, an A-Log with that kind of power would simply delete the site or replace it with requests for Chris to kill himself out of blind hatred, rather than use this power to extort some new content like Clyde did.

After reading that, I would say that Clyde is both a well thought out troll and a white knight, he tried to give Chris advice, but to no avail, but then decided to troll Chris. unfortunately, the article doesn't go into too much depth about his trolling or emails, so I don't know too much about him.

That said, maybe Clyde was A-Loggy. Watch some of the old Audiobooks with annotations (if they're on YouTube anymore, I don't think they are) and Vivian would say stuff like "god dammit chris" and stuff that could be perceived as A-Logging. Dig through YouTube and certain big name trolls who made comments on Chris videos said A-Loggy things. To be fair, there was a time when A-Logesque behavior was perfectly acceptable and even encouraged because otherwise, you would be labeled a "white knight." The problem only came when you had people who had more issues than Chris and weren't really in a position to criticize him complaining that Chris somehow gives them a bad name. There are people who seriously think that their Sonic recolors would be accepted as a serious form of art if it wasn't for Sonichu. What drew people to A-Log was that you have a grossly overweight, probably more so than Chris, who displayed many of the same behaviors he did but claimed superiority when he in fact lacked as much social awareness as Chris.

I feel like a little criticism of Chris isn't horrible, but comparing Chris to Hitler is just plain ridiculous. I have a friend who does that.

I think the original definition of A-Logging was people decrying Chris by virtue of traits that they also have themselves, a la the original A-Log. Over time it just kind of turned into "saying anything mindlessly negative about Chris". I have no idea how someone could genuinely think that a fat autist who spends his welfare money on PS3 digital downloads is on the same level of evil as a dictator who orchestrated the genocide of millions, though. Never understood that but it's weirdly common.

Ok, so, in the US copyright is granted when you put a work (like a book or a song) into a fixed medium (like paper or a file on your computer). You can't copyright characters, like Sonichu or Winnie the Pooh. You can only copyright a specific work, like each individual Sonichu comic is copyrighted. If you want control of an individual character, a trademark is what you're looking for.

In order to defend your copyright in court, you need proof that your work came first. The best way to do that is registration. Registration doesn't do anything for you other than associate a date with a given work and a person.

Sega and Nintendo can't argue copyright on the Sonichu comics because they obviously didn't write the Sonichu comics.* They could possibly claim trademark violations because of Chris' inclusion of Pikachu and Sonic and other characters. So I think if Chris omitted the first issue or two, he'd be very much in the clear.

The Sonichu comics start out as fanart, and then turn into a long spiel about all the evil troll people in Chris' life. Sega/Nintendo obviously didn't write rambling stories about Mary Lee Walsh and the Jerkops.

And of course, with enough money, all this becomes irrelevant. Sega/Nintendo could fuck with Chris a lot if they wanted to.

Edit: In retrospect, they can claim some of the comics are derivative works because of Pikachu (and the pokemon elements) and Sonic, but that's easy to fix. Chris just needs to remove those references. It's similar to the situation with Fifty Shades of Grey and how it was originally a Twilight fanfiction.

Which raises a pretty good question:
What if, by whatever misalignment of the stars and the city of R'lyeh, Chris actually would end up getting a sweetheart and made her pregnant just to find out the child is male?
I guess the child would go down the route of Robee...

What's the worst case of A-logging you guys have seen? I wanted to ask this but I didn't think it was worth a new thread.

For me, it's the multitude of people demonstrating an incredible lack of perspective by saying that Chris is equal to, or worse than, Hitler. Or any ruthless dictator, really. And I don't mean comparing comic-Chris to Kim Jong-Un, citing the un-necessary murders, ruthless control over citizens and government-controlled economy and policing. I mean people in YouTube comments who genuinely draw the comparison between Hitler or Kim and real-life, dopey 2009 striped-shirt Chris.

I have a friend who says that Chris is worse than Hitler, and when I talked some sense into him, he said that Chris was close to Hitler. He's a Sonic fan so I guess that's why he said that.

Chris Bores (Irate Gamer) has been drawn comparison to Hitler as well by many people too, you know. As would a lot of man-children on the Internet, I'd predict.

Had Barbara passed on earlier, say perhaps from child birth, leaving Bob to raise Chris on his own, would Chris have had a better or worse life than he does now?

It's not like Bob played no part in shaping Chris into the specimen he is today. It sounds like he has enabled (tugboat) and exempted Chris from any big-boy duties, though perhaps if he wasn't reinforced by Barb, things may've panned out differently. Perhaps Bob would remarry somebody who would've had a positive impact on Chris.

I don't necessarily think "off Barb" would result in an instant happy ending. The environment Chris was bred in was a combined effort.
