Looks like it's being outsourced. But the company is made up of former Platinum games and Capcom employees so that sounds promising.

It feels like the 90s all over again, Spyro and crash remake trilogy, resident evil 2 and now three, not to mention SpongeBob battle for bikini bottom rehydrated and destroy all humans coming next year too...truly gaming is back to Glory days my fellow kiwis let's cherish this time.

Indeed. Don't forget the Final Fantasy VII remake coming out next year.

I'm excited as fuck for this RE3 remake.

I hope the entire RPD building can be explored in this one. It made sense for the west and east wings to be closed off in the original since the PS1s limited hardware meant the entire station couldn't fit on one disc but now with modern hardware it'd be no problem fitting the whole building in the game.

Since they've remade RE2 and RE3, there's a good chance we might see a remake of Code Veronica for the PS5 to round out the "Classic Resident Evil" era.

But you know what I would like to see them do a remake of?

Resident Evil: Survivor.

Yes, Survivor is widely disliked by the fandom but it's also part of the original canon and its biggest flaws were being a low budget game and the North American release being hampered by the Columbine shooting. If you did a higher-quality remake of Survivor, it would be pretty awesome.

Hell, I'd even implement the first-person view from RE7 in a Survivor remake.

I don't see the point considering it still looks identical to RE2's RPD. I'd rather they not inflate the game's length by just rehashing old stuff.

I'm even more hyped for this game now and I love the comments about Nemesis being able to track you in other ways in comparison to Mr X. What does that even mean? I don't know but I love it, I can't wait for that gigantic son of a bitch to kick my ass. :heart-full:

I saw a bag of candy advertising DLC codes for the Crash Team Racing Remaster.

I was a bit taken aback, it made me realize it's been 20 years since the PS1 original, which makes me feel old, but it also makes me happy to think of this stuff coming back.

Medievil's remake made me burst out laughing when I got a trophy for using old cheat codes. The game even includes the original PSX version but there's genuinely no differences beyond audio and visual stuff.

The Trailer gives me the impression Brad Vickers will have more involvement in the story, at least compared to the original game.

Personally I'd love to see R3make address the fate of the other S.T.A.R.S members; its something that always irked me in RE3.

EDIT: I know most of them were killed off in RE1, but still.
They all died except Chris, Jill, Barry, and Rebecca. RE3's epilogues says that Chris is in Europe investigating Umbrella and Jill is supposed to catch up. Barry moved his family to Canada so they cant be used as leverage against him and is the one that shows up to rescue Jill and Carlos so hopefully he gets a little screen time. Rebecca was the only one who didn't get mentioned in the epilogues.

I can't wait to see the intro in this new engine I loved that battle scene back in the day. I will be interested to see what they do with the fact RE3 is earlier in the outbreak so there are still survivors and mercs running around.

They are working on DEEP DOWN??

Also the multiplayer RE: Resistance is outsourced not RE3.

This is where Resident Evil's continuity gets a little weird, because where did the original REmake fall in line? Was that simply a replacement for the original game or was the original still the "canon" entry and if so does that mean REmake, RE2 Remake and now RE3 Remake are their own continuity?
Trying to follow RE canon is a losing battle once you get past broad plot points. It's impossible to get a canon ending in RE1 or Remake. (Barry and Rebecca survive in canon).

Correct me if I'm wrong but that's just the outfit she happened to be wearing when she happened to find herself caught in the midst of a zombie outbreak, it's not like she planned it out and chose that outfit on purpose.
In the intro for RE3, she says she knew the outbreak was coming and a picture shows her in her bedroom getting a gun ready. You could argue she knew that it was coming in general terms but didn't know when and didn't have time to change, or that it wasn't her bedroom. Or you could just say it's a mistake, like how in RE Remake Kenneth shoots 1 shot in the intro, but the tape you recover has him shooting multiple shots.

Or you could do what most people do and ignore that stuff because it doesn't matter. This wasn't some Marvel cinematic universe situation where it was all planed years in advance.

That's one thing that always bothered me about the original Resident Evil, none of watch you actually see in the game is what "really" happened, it's weird.

But despite what I said it's clear that REmake and later RE0 were supposed to be canon to the other games, reference is made to the Ashfords in REmake for example.

But it's now that we have remakes for 2 and 3 do things start to get more confusing.

While I like some of the games post Code Veronica I do think it would be best for Capcom to treat all the remakes as a new continuity and start clean after a potential Code Veronica remake, leave all the crap in 5 and 6 behind.

They've always done that though. Resident Evil 2 on N64 had new files added to tie it to other games, but it's not a remake. Whereas other games like the Gameboy game are ignored outright. RE0 breaks the first game (both original and remake) by having Rebecca scared of hunters despite having dealt with hunters and much worse during the events of 0.

All the game are canon to some degree. Each new game is bolted onto the lore in an attempt to keep up the appearance of continuity, but there's no kind of long term plan. One example is how the Steve storyline was completely abandoned after Code Veronica despite laying down sequel hooks in Code Veronica X. (I've not played Code Veronica in years, but I think it was mentioned that Wesker had Steve locked up somewhere or something? I always assumed he died in CV, but X changed that in a file?)

I know they aren't strictly canon but one of the comic books had a pretty funny way of explaining the continuity. The gathering stars members are discussing what happened in the mansion and as Chris is talking about his continuity, like saving Jill from the lab near the end etc, Jill's sat there disputing it all in her own mind. I'm pretty sure that when she finally mentions that he's wrong, he just ignores her and continues talking. Always thought that was a pretty funny way of dealing with the continutity.
The later games certainly dealt with the two perspectives to one story thing much better. Especially the A, B scenario in 2. I'm in the minority as well, but I loved the 2 player aspect of 0 as well.

I quite enjoyed 0 as well, even if as previously mentioned it makes no sense when you try to fit it into the RE1 Canon. Another thing you just have to accept is somehow Raccoon City was overrun with no one from the outside knowing. Even if the military had apparently blockaded it, wouldn't explain how Clare and Leon were able to drive in completely unaware.

Resi takes a very, very broad approach to canon. If the new stuff is cooler it takes precedent, and that's about it.
