We're basically gone from the clear web, Wayback machine deleted all of our archives, the only real stable way to post is via Tor and I just had a bitch of a time getting that to work right now. The number of members online is low, and the boards all around seem quieter than usual. I know that Josh told us unplug and not fret, but seeing all that here combined with these motherfuckers' victory lap on Twitter and a get a really sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Well, like I said on Poast, if there is one consolation to all this, it's that no matter how bad it gets for us and our community, at least none of us will have to suffer the fate of being Bob Chipman.

This offends me so much as both a Tolkien fan and someone who's been recently diving into archeology and old testament stuff I have to do a double post.

I mean, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church includes the Book of Enoch in its OT, just to give you a small taste of how wrong Bob is going to be.

First of all, the antediluvian-giant thing is more a deal of modern rendition than what the people back then would have read it. I mean... they did see the ancients as "great men of renown" and have this trope about "precursor tech" but the people wouldn't imagine tech like we might. Second, this is such a hilarious misunderstanding of the Simiril that it loops back around to enraging. ESPECIALLY as Bob tries to pass himself as some knowledgeable geek. The prequel book (which I'm going to refer to as S because it's too hard to spell) is so obviously laid out by a Christian writer you can almost match sections 1 to 1 from it to the Bible. Like the opening chapter about the song of creation - obviously Genesis 1. You even have the figures in a garden who later get expelled.

Following that is the old testament period - or rather the first age which maps pretty obviously to Joshua, Judges, and the annals of the kings of Israel. This whole bit that Amazon is doing? That's all from the SECOND age. Which - again if you're paying attention - is more like Middle Earth's new testament.

Remember how I said before Bob is blue-curtain retarded? His brain just does this "matching" thing? Here you can see it again because he brings up "antediluvian" stuff. Well antediluvian would be early genesis, that which predates even Abraham. How can you say the SECOND AGE of middle earth is antediluvian? Well because the second age is ended by the sinking of Numenor. Flood in middle earth == flood in the Bible, see? Never mind that the sinking of Numenor was LOCAL and not a GLOBAL flood. If you want to maintain the parallels, it would be more akin to the sacking of the second temple and destruction of Jerusalem which is not explicitly mentioned, but understood to kind of be the "end" of the New Testament.

What makes it even dumber? Bringing this all back around to the aforementioned podcast, the nephilim were humans conceived of by pagan ritual where the "god" (or demonic spirit in the jewish/christian POV) would bond with a host the time. Thus, "antediluvian" time would be the period where Satan and his homies are literally on earth making demonic servants. You know what period of time in Middle Earth was LITERAL Satan walking about and fighting elves and humans? THE FIRST AGE. Sauron and stuff? The bad guy in this series. You know, the SECOND age? He's just a lower servant of the ME Satan. Just like how in second temple literature there was a belief that the demonic spirits mentioned in the gospels were the ghosts of those ancient nephilim left to haunt the earth. Again, not Satan, but those who has served him in the past.

This is what I'm on about! The more you know of BOTH the Bible and Middle Earth, the more Tolkien's inspirations and the parallels are super obvious. (Making Hobbit & LotR like the legends of King Arthur - post biblical stories.) But Bob here is so dumb he just runs half-assed over popular hollywood interpretations of this shit instead of digging down into the truth and original sources. Hence why he comes off even dumber than usual!

CS Lewis taught himself foreign languages to read his favorite works in their original language (it was one of the things he bonded with Tolkien over). He would MAYBE tolerate RoP as an original piece assuming he had any tolerance for TV (which I doubt). But to say he would dig a bastardization of an original? Especially his good friend?

If ROP were supposed to be antediluvian than the villain of the piece would be Morgoth, not Sauron. I guess you could argue the fall of Numenor is more analagous to the flood? There's an interesting book my sister bought me called "The Battle for Middle-earth: Tolkien's Divine Design in the Lord of the Rings" by Flemming Rutledge which is a about the religious thought and symbolism in LotR. I haven't gotten too far into it, but so far I've been enjoying it.

Aule creating the dwarves in the Silmarillion is for me one of the greatest moments in fantasy literature, but thankfully, there's very little chance Amazon will butcher that.

It's the most frustrating part about how this whole situation has been framed. It's true that some lolcows are fairly harmless and might not deserve to be scrutinized so much, but those are the ones that usually don't have very large threads in the first place. From my experience, most cows are actually pretty terrible people in some way or another, and that mockery is wholly deserved.

Just to give a couple examples: John Walker Flynt/"Brianna Wu" has been grifting off of being a "woman in tech" for years now despite having zero technical skills, and also saw nothing wrong with not disclosing he was a man to prospective partners. Chelsea van Valkenburg/"Zoe Quinn" is an abusive BPD cunt who's been ruining lives for over a decade and drove a talented developer to suicide. Bob "Moviebob" Chipman is an autist with anger management issues that doesn't even try to hide how much he wants to shove all his enemies into ovens. And the less said about our forum's current pain in the ass, the better.

Despite this, a sympathetic media unquestioningly republishes their spin on the matter, painting us as horrible bullies when they've done far worse. We're the bad guys, not the grifters, the liars, the murderers, or the psychopaths that we document. Very few people bother to question this narrative, with that tweet from Jesse Singal being a rare example of someone with a decent platform raising concerns. And once again, Peter fucking Coffin proves to have a better handle on this situation than many other people.

My friends group was discussing this last night, and everyone just assumed we were an evil harassment forum that did illegal shit, and thus it was no real loss. Not a one found it frightening that so many forces could be mobilized to attempt to knock us off the internet entirely, nor what that meant for the internet as a whole. I wanted to reveal my powerlevel and talk about my experience with the farms, but it would take far too long and I doubt anyone would have been convinced. I might even have been run out for being a wrongthinker myself.

The farms is probably the best online community I have ever been a part of, a relic of what the internet used to be. Posts aren't downvoted out of public view, wrongthink isn't silenced, there's no heavy-handed moderation. You can read threads in their entirety, respond to anything, and have engaging conversations on any topic. People take the time to write out their thoughts coherently, unrestricted by minuscule character limits. There's no clout-chasing here, and anyone who does is bullied for being retarded. It would be a great loss to see it go for good, regardless of what the cows say about us.

And as you and everyone else has mentioned, the farms going down won't make Bob or any other cow's life better. They'll still be miserable assholes making terrible life choices, and people will still be laughing at them.

I found it interesting that Chippa (and Bob himself too, IIRC) when asked about whether they went to church as kids, the answer was, "Yeah, and the school forced us to". This is a very interesting case study in deflection. They're deflecting blame, from their parents, who sent them to the school that "forced them to go to church", and blaming the school for forcing them to go to church. As if the parents naively sent them to catholic school, not expecting their kids to be forced to go to church.

I once had a parent do that. Was during one of my odd stints not working for a school board, the tub o' lard I got parked next to/underneath in the drafting cubicle (1 cubicle, 3 people, I needed the money) was complaining loudly about her kids being forced to go to church. Now, working for schools like I did, this didn't make sense - the ones in the boonies got away with that as late as the early 2000s but that was about it.

Long story short: After a bit of back and forth she admitted that she had specifically enrolled them in a Catholic school because she's Catholic. And then she insisted that doesn't mean the school has to have Catholic ritual and teaching in it. (She didn't take well to my "Yes, it does.")

Absolutely! I don't consider this to be hyperbole in the slightest. Kiwi Farms really is what I missed from the Internet for so very, very long.

I admit that I did have a love/hate relationship with the forum in the beginning, since I correctly deduced that many of the posters here would be lolcows in their own right, had they put themselves out there for the world to see, instead of being anonymous shitposters like yours truly. Still, even if I still think that's true, the general atmosphere of discourse here is just golden. The only thing I really dislike is the hardcore feminist cunts who poison the conversation every now and again with unironic bitching about The Patriarchy™, but they mostly contain themselves to sperging in threads about trannies, so it's no biggie.

It's actually really comical how sublime a forum can become simply by combining the general guidelines of the Kiwi Farms with the very liberal usage of words like nigger and whore etc. It seems like encouraging old-school Internet shitposting and candidness with a general sense of common decency, combined with a no holds barred kind of attitude in regards to invectives, simply produces a jolly good time. I guess you could boil it down to the fact that actively encouraging people to not be sensitive faggots is a winning concept. Who'd have thunk?

Josh's recent post on Telegram.org makes me optimistic for what's about to come. I kind of expect this whole operation to be shut down, but I keep my fingers crossed for the future of this glorious forum.
