Nah, I think most of them are aware. A common criticism of America's military actions since the War on Terror started is it's a bunch of poor, oppressed men of color pressed into warfare to try to make ends meet because whitey fucked them over so bad at home. "Progressive" reactions to minorities in the armed forces oscillate between either lamenting their role as slaves to white imperialists or sneering at them for being house niggers.

This is a common argument from actual leftists who think about things.

SJWs aren't these people. They're ignorant lunatics who literally think the armed forces entirely consist of Nazis. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these morons think the entire military is comprised of neo-Nazi white males.

Weird to see Bob of all people going to bat for veterans. Considering the US military is 1) a tool of nationalist troglodytes, 2) used to kill oppressed groups, and 3) gushed over by people he would call inferior yokels.

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to see him espousing an opinion which isn't hateful bullshit. Especially since most of the soc-jus crowd A-Logs the military pretty hard nowadays.
VA hospitals and military benefits in general are always used as a lash against the party in power. It is exactly the same as the national debt. When the Dems eventually swing back into power, they will award ridiculous defense contracts while screwing the soldiers and vets and dismissively explain that the national debt doesn't matter as long as the economy is rolling.

Same bullshit, every single time.

Bob allegedly got himself fired because he and his buddies would not stop fucking sperging about GG.

Well he got the Pink Slip because he was bringing in FTC violations and that doesn't bode well for any company. I mean seriously, how hard is it to separate your personal politics from your worklife?

It's sad to think that besides Jim and Yahtzee, Bob was the most watchable person on the escapist back in the day. He even had enough of a sense of humor back then to strike a "Last Supper" pose with all the other Escapist contributors.

Now he's just this planet-sized, Mario-obsessed, hateful loon living in a leaky basement.

No. no he always been that the only changed would be the fact no website wants his video any more and now there oversight to keep him just a bit under control.

Oh yeah, my comment was more on how bad The Escapist has always been since Bob was almost enjoyable in comparison to the rest of their stuff (Critical Miss anyone?). His weird totalitarian worldview would always leak out here and there but because he wasn't constantly ranting and raving it wasn't quite so notable.

Thing is, Critical miss is an adequate webcomic on the escapist but it just devolved into Cerebus syndrome (an attempt at seriousness) that didn't really work. Last time I checked they rebooted the strip where the protagonist moved to Canada because they were scared of da ebil Trump.

TLDR: I got fired after being told repeatedly not to pull my employer into my politics.

TLDR : I was the "movie guy" at a video games site. I kept partnering with Devin Faracci to lob verbal bombs at the broad community that my employer serviced, particularly calling all the male gamers, "rapists, racists, Nazis, worse than ISIS, pedophiles" and a host of other bits of nastiness. Every time my bosses had the storm tamped down I would go back in and start pouring fuel on the fire by pouring noxious and toxic hate on my employers target consumer.

He didn't get fired because of the ad drop. In fact he was specifically spared. He was felt to be valuable and pulled in his numbers. He was dropped for his constant vile over the top hateful rants about nerds and gamers, which his employer repeatedly asked and then demanded he stop. He got fired a few days after the layoffs at the Escapist for yet another night spent tweeting out horrible accusations. Declareing Gamers as worse than ISIS while a horrific ISIS attack was in the news, etc. His fellow obscene and depraved white knight in this was Devin "sexual assault" Farraci. Someone whom Archon, Bob's boss seemingly loathed (with good reason Farraci is vile). When Bob tweeted out his final truly vile ISIS based twit storm a number of us contacted Archon to ask WTF? Bob was gone by morning.

I didn't follow Bob when he was at The Escapist, so I can't really comment on any of this, though it sounds fascinating. But looking at his reddit explanation of what happened, I find it very interesting how casually he mingles what he considered expressing his opinion with "blacklisting" (his word), as if those two things are completely interchangeable. Does he not grasp that when you're blacklisting someone, the associations with that word (and of course that practice!) are so toxic that to use the word blacklist openly you'd have to have your head wedged so far up your ass you've become an MC Escher print?

I can't tell if Bob is really that stupid or if he's just so arrogant he comes across as that stupid.

EDIT: Has it ever been established what he did that was drawing the attention of the FTC? Because once you start getting the hairy eyeball from a federal watchdog outfit, it's time to do whatever your bosses tell you to do, "blood money" notwithstanding. The fact that he persisted in whatever foolishness he was doing weighs heavily in the "stupid" argument.

Unwarranted arrogance is a sign of stupidity, so it's really six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Hollywood Reporter said:
Following recent backlash for racially insenstive remarks, the HBO host still managed to earn a nom on Thursday morning.
Bill Maher, host of HBO's Real Time, surprised many with a nomination for best variety talk series on Thursday morning.

While competition in the category was particular steep, it was actually Maher's recent comments that were thought to have kept the political comic from earning a nomination.

In June, Maher made headlines when he responded to guest Sen. Ben Sasse's question, "Would you like to come work in the field with us?" by saying, "Work in the fields? Senator, I am a house n—er."

HBO, viewers and Maher's guests the following week all condemned Maher's use of the racial epithet. HBO called the host's comments "completely inexcusable and tasteless" and vowed to remove "his deeply offensive comment from any subsequent airings of the show."

Maher apologized the following week on-air. "I did a bad thing," Maher told guest Michael Eric Dyson. "For black folks, that word — I don't care who you are — it's caused pain. It doesn't matter that it was not said in malice, it caused pain, and that's why I apologized. I'm not that big of an asshole."

Following that incident, Maher once again found himself receiving criticism for a tweet he wrote earlier this month. Following the news over the 4th of July weekend that North Korea had launched a missile into the Pacific Ocean, Maher tweeted, "This N Korean thing is getting tense! I mean, I think it is, I'm on vaca. The ladies at my nail salon are freaking out, that's what I know!"

The comment was deemed racially insensitive for its stereotypical portrayal of Asian-Americans. Unlike with the previous controversy, Maher never issued an apology and has not removed the tweet from his feed.

This year's Emmy nomination marks the 20th overall for Maher's Real Time, though the Friday-night program has never taken home the statue. Competing against Maher this year are FullFrontal with Samantha Bee, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Late Showwith James Corden and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
lol, Bob has a surprise when he wakes up.

It was actually "Block listing" he began using that anti GG block bot that auto blocked twitter users based on who they followed. The one created by Randi Lee Harper, who I believe has her own thread around here somewhere. So Bob was autoblocking all sorts, including some of his coworkers and bosses. (I'm pretty sure a Archon was on the block list.) Bob really had no power to "blacklist" anybody. He is and always has been the epitome of bottom feeder / low man on the totem pole.

He succeeded at the Escapist largely because they mostly only bought his video series that didn't have him on camera. His Moviebob series was basically a PowerPoint presentation with Bob voiceover. So you didn't really get the visual creepiness that is Bob. It should be saying something that a Videogame site wanted no part of his Videogame shows. Bob was always an odd fit for the Escapist. He was the movie reviewer at a video game site that largely loathed what he perceived as "dudebro" gamers and fps players. (Basically any gamer not himself) And spared no opportunity letting them know this.

And yes Bob suffers horribly from a problem you will find with pretty much every one of the extra special snowflakes documented around here. An inability to maintain a separation between the Personal and the Professional. No Work/Home mental separation. No mental filters that kick in when engaged in anything related to their job, career, employers, etc. It's bundled in with the complete narcissism that so defines them all.

Since Bob's all about government controlling everything, how the hell does he think laws would be enforceable if borders didn't exist? You could casually walk out when things got bad. While we're on the subject, wouldn't it also require the guys on the other sides to want open borders as well? Where are any of the perks to this idea?

Bob is an actual dyed in the wool 1930's era "worker of the world unite" Stalinist. He would have fit in perfectly in 20th Century East Germany. Don't ask about logic. consistency or a historical record of genocidal failure. Bob is what you would get if you actually kept a child locked up ina cupboard under the stairs ala Harry Potter. Although in Bob's case you would need a big cupboard. Really more of a Pantry.

Eh, he really isn't much of a communist; he's just a straight up authoritarian with a technology fetish. He consumed and espoused a shitton of Objectivist statements in how by his beliefs there is a mass of idiots holding back the chosen geniuses from enacting his one world 'superior' future. This future being a sham-democracy where those with the wrong values are disenfranchised and starved out. He is not anti-corporation, and in fact is an ardent mark of those he deems 'acceptable' (Nintendo, Marvel) and an utter capitalistic whore. Less a communist, more a general aspiring tyrant.

Do you wanna know why the FTC was getting involved?
It's fucking great.

On October 10th, 2014, The Escapist ran a column in which a number of developers who were pro-Gamergate were interviewed. At the time, this was the only article remotely like it. Suffice to say, it exists only in Archival Format now. What happened?

Zoe Quinn and Alex Lifschitz called in their markers. MovieBob and Jim Sterling raised holy hell and between the two fatasses and a shrieking mob, they accused several of the devs interviewed of being "serial harassers." The "evidence" presented of this harassment was IRC logs, taken out-of-context from the Escapist's own fucking IRC channel - I.E., complete horse-shit. Despite the complete lack of evidence, the article was taken down. At least one developer's interview was removed under the mere claims that he somehow harassed someone, with no evidence given whatsoever.

At about this point, we enter accusation territory, but it coincides with both Chipman's testimony, the GG timeline, and the testimony of anons involved at the time. The Escapist noticed the fucking obvious, which is that several of its own employees are anything but neutral on this particular subject, and many of them have long, detailed lists of conflicts-of-interest with various developers, Journos, et al. GG's Internet Autism Machine is in full burn mode, and fucking everything is getting archived by the GG spergs, who are digging up every conflict-of-interest they can.

The Escapist, realizing how much damage weaponized Autism can do, and realizing that attacking their fucking audience is a fucking stupid move, becomes the first site of many to update its Ethics policy to enforce disclosure of pre-existing relationships between devs and reviewers, and basically asks the FTC to confirm it and show they're on the level.

Suffice to say, Jimothy "There's No Such Thing as an Unbiased Review" Sterling does not like this very much, nor does Bob "No Bad Tactics" Chipman. Making matters worse, The Escapist steadfastly refuses to lock discussion threads on GG that repeatedly get invaded by Anti-GG trolls trying to use the SA tactic of descending on a thread and shitting it up en masse to get it locked; instead, The Escapist's moderators do the sane thing and keep banning responsible parties, otherwise letting the GG spergs have their sperging, contained to one series of threads.

With the line in the sand drawn between Jim and the GG component of The Escapist's audience, The Escapist went with the audience. Jim proceeded to lose his shit and go freelance. He specifically cited the fact that The Escapist was not simply banning interviewees on he and his friends' say-so alone as the reason that he left. Chippy stuck with it a bit longer, promising to play by the rules, but ultimately we know how that panned out.

No he wouldn't. He detests workers. He considers them scum.

He is as bourgeois as it is possible to be. He is a fat fucker who would have been sent to Siberia if he was lucky.
