S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (Stalker) Thread

This was my big question, and I'm thinking that given what other Kiwis have said here, I am giving a hard pass to STALKER 2 for at least another 6 months. My baseline was "Is this at least on par with Anomaly?", and as it stands it seems STALKER 2 isn't even on par with Shadow of Chernobyl.
I didn't specifically dig into it, but Stalker 2 looks like the first game, only with muh graphics. I don't think it will ever, ever reach the level of Anomaly, which is, btw, (TAX) free (BISCH).
I dont understand why people would buy it, unless you have free time to spend to try every game and enough money to buy them constantly.

The plot honestly feels likethe metro 2035 book to me.
Just the author taking a shit on something you previously enjoyed to own the Kremlin or whatever in this case.
Hard pass, going to try OGSR with the rearmed addon.

Not only is it available for free, but it's still receiving active updates and mod support.

This is another big strike against it, for me. All the pointless shit you know was added in simply out of petty spite against Russia (because the piggers are losing). "Chornobyl"? Bitch, "Ukrainian" isn't even a real fucking language, it's Pidgin Russian, stop larping and fingerpainting the maps with shit!

Wasnt the general gist of the game that the monolith was never real and it was all shady corpo stuff?
If anything as far I remembered it should be the contrary
The corpo belongs to the monolith

No, no corpos involved in STALKER. The Monolith is an illusion, a sort of last line of defense for the C-Consciousness.

Ask a rural Russian to understand what a rural Ukrainian is saying and they'll have no idea.
Dunno if this was asked already, but what Stalker 2 has over Stalker Anomaly except for graphics and more animations?
Nothing, at its current state it's worse than the original trilogy. A-Life is essential to STALKER, a game without it isn't a STALKER game in my opinion.

No different from Jeetglish.

No different from Jeetglish.
You've obviously never heard Galician as a native Russian speaker, because it goes beyond simple sound changes. I don't think a post in English (made by an American IP) trying to demonstrate differences between languages that have over 2000 years of divergence from English is a sound argument. You understand jeetglish, but that has nothing to do with a Russian speaker's ability to understand Ukrainian.
Why are you cock sucking a country you've never stepped foot in?
it's a bastard or mutt, if you will, language between Russian and Polish. with sprinkles of anything around it.
back to game discussion. it looks like swastika shotgun was a fad. high chance for it to be modded
By that definition you can argue every language is a bastard of those around it.

Stop whining, pigger. You literally made the point for me, that others have made, that "Ukrainian" is only spoken by bumpkins.

Given this is <Current Year> Ukraine, and they have a fetish for Nazi shit while also trying desperately to distinguish themselves from Russia (the nation they're squatting on rightful clay of)...yeah this might actually be vanilla.

Calling it a mutt is a politically-motivated stretch, but, eh, to a point. Surprisingly it's closer to Polish than Russian in terms of LD. To a native Russian/Polish speaker Ukrainian sounds like Dutch to a native English/German speaker. Funny.

It was used as minor regional language at what it is now Western Ukraine. Which, funnily enough, was under Lithuanian duchy up until XVIII century and after Russian empire was dissipated, that part went to Poland until the end of world war 2. Stalin added it to UaSSR. Before Russian empire fell, everyone east of Galicia spoken Russian. Older variant.

I will give STALKER 2 this: it motivated me to finish SoC, and try Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. I've currently finished setting up STALKER GAMMA so that seems fun, too.

Had to give up CS and CoP because the saves kept getting corrupted - this series really is just a bunch of janky shit held together with duct tape and dreams.

Decided to give it a try on Game Pass before buying it to see if I like it. Playing on Series X and so far it's been a good experience. Granted, I'm not far into the game yet and am still in the Lesser Zone. I never played the originals, but I've always enjoyed the lore and universe, ever since that video of the Hind D filming those zombies taking out that squad in night vision, so I really have no expectations to be let down over. I'm enjoying it so far.

Edit: wanted to mention that I played Cyberpunk 2077 from day one. Didn't have many issues with it aside from a couple graphical bugs, like items floating off the ground, and a couple of crashes. CDPR did a great job getting that game patched to the point that it became one of my all-time favorites. It's another game I got into because of the lore/world it's set in. I have a feeling that the devs for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be doing the same with this game. They've already dropped two patches that sound like they've made big improvements already. I actually started playing the game after those two patches dropped.

I'll admit, I'm a pretty easy date when it comes to video games. I've always just played games casually for fun. I just don't have the time to be a hardcore gamer, so I'm pretty selective about the games I play. I typically go for games like Cyberpunk or the Fallout series, games where exploring a large world space is a big part of the experience. I also tend to go for games with deep lore behind it, again like Cyberpunk or Fallout. I have no interest in playing FO76, and the best part of FO4 is the mods. I'd love to see mods for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 become available on console, like Bethesda does with Fallout 4 and Skyrim, but I'm not going to get my hopes up for that.

I do hope the devs include more weapons later on, especially ones that were available in the classic games like the AN-94, or even weapons that are new to both the classic games and the new sequel.
