I bought the ultimate edition for $110 on Steam. The game is a mess though. It wasn't ready for full release. The A-Life 2.0 they promised is either bugged or not in the game. The game world feels kind of dead. It doesn't feel like the original STALKER games. At times it feels STALKER like. But to me it seems more like a Call of Duty game or Far cry. Everything seems kind of linear and scripted. It reminds me a bit of Clear Sky. People didn't like Clear Sky all that much.

Like I said the game has issues. It's poorly optimized and runs like shit. There are tons of bugs and glitches. Some of them severe and some of them not. The other day I had these two NPC's stuck walking in place in a doorway. I saved and reloaded, and they were still there. They didn't break out of this animation till I tried talking to the guy in front of me. Then they got out of the doorway. I have heard of worse issues though. It's just annoying as hell.

There is really no excuse for this game to be running this poorly on any hardware made in the last 5-6 years at 1080p. 1080p has been the standard resolution for like a decade or more now. Most people playing the game on PC will be playing at 1920x1080.

It is funny watching Russians and vatniggers chimping out over the pro Ukrainian and anti-Russian stuff found in the game though.

Implying they even have the proper shit going to have actually named NPCs
Its probably just randomly generating them with a bunch of params, so niggers have as much of a random chance of being piggers to being NATO larpers

Just made it through the Argoprom sewers and the bloodsucker fight has left me shaken and scared. Wiped the military base and made it back to Mole, only to find out I forgot to talk to him and proceed with the quest, so back into the sewers. Once I got to the pipe leading to Strelok's hideout, I realized that I have a flashlight. I am retarded.

Kind of. The gunplay is satisfying when you upgrade your weapons and make short work of entire platoons of enemy soldiers. But that's all its got going for it.

Its basically Ukrainian Skyrim except it desperately needs a balance patch. Since even with the best exo suit armor in the game and "maximum" resistance to several damage types from legendary artifacts, you will still die in 1-2 hits from said damage types. So may as well not wear armor. Artifacts dont give specific stat percentages anymore. They range from weak to maximum. In terms of stat bonuses and radiation emission. Whatever that means. Expect to spam a comical amount of health packs during every fight and bandaging on top of that because bleeding is a constant debuff when damaged. Even with artifacts that are supposed to mitigate that a bit. Like the wierd ball.

Gear durability is a thing in this game and the repair prices are so outrageous the developers are also supposedly rebalancing that in the next patch. Since the community has been outraged over incurring exponentially more costs in repair bills than side missions and story missions pay out.

Faction rep is in the game and mentioned via several loading screen hints, but you have no way of seeing your rep with each faction nor which faction a character is from short of blatantly obvious stuff like monolith/freedom/duty uniforms and color schemes. In a normal playthrough it really won't matter. But sometimes its bugged so completing a story objective will render an npc hub you were just defending hostile towards you for no reason so they wont talk to you nor let you shop there. Until you complete the next story mission. This also includes guides, who are the only means of fast travel in the game.

Mutants are basically eastern bloc equivalents to fallout's deathclaw. Especially bloodsuckers. In terms of speed, damage output, and will make short work of players regardless of difficulty or equipment. You are often better off trying to outrun them to save resources. Short of using hi caliber sniper rifles, you will be wasting a fuck ton of ammo on each and every one of them. Though it was funny to glitch some chimeras and knife them to death. Just to reload the save cause of a crash and be instant killed from full hp and 100% armor durability. Chimeras will ambush you in the swamps and instant kill you. so you better travel light and fast.

Enemies spawn around the player instead of being placed in the world like every other open world game ever made. So snipers are useless outside of endgame where you need extreme armor piercing weapons. Dont expect MGSV levels of stealth gameplay either since the enemy can and will spot you through walls. Some NPC hubs, namely Malachite and Rostok, will consistently crash your game with a memory leak error every few minutes. Even faster if you talk to any vendors or use the stash or sleep. So when the NPCs tell you to stay the hell away from Eugene and joining freedom, they really fucking mean it.

The later half of the game is literally unplayable and you need to use a dev console to give yourself the next story mission every time at that point. Since the game is broken and won't give it to you after completing the previous one. Most people haven't gotten that far yet so we've yet to see the reviewbombing. The developers have acknowledged these issues and are supposedly patching it in the near future.

The game heavily rewards headshots, Been able to deal with pigs with a PM in a couple shots. Though, I suspect on max difficulty it's more bullet spongy than normal.

Now the bloodsuckers? absolutely fucking bullet sponges, and ran into a poltergeist that was literally unkillable.

Poltergeist was a fucking a tom and jerry scenario I was chasing that mf while emptying mags during "behind the seven seals" mission.

And the how the hell are u suppose to head shot mutants who has high speed? Dat shit is infuriating

Is there a method of hunting mutants that I'm blind too?

Can't track as they spawn on top of me. They dodge bullets when aiming. They run off if I climb to high ground assuming the climbing mechanics work.

Right now I do this slow strafing jump dance around mutants and it seems to work. Noticed after an attack they leave a window of a few seconds to reload / heal.

There are supposed to kill you in 2 strikes back in Call of Chernobyl! THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RARE and blood curling! and what is with mutants being bullet sponges? ESPECIALLY PIGS! Pigs are entry level mutants which i killed with a fucking shit pistol back in OG!

It's frustrating because despite all the problems I still find myself being hooked, angry, then hooked again. For every dumb broken stealth encounter or tepid combat sequence, there's two nail biting moments of me navigating anomalies to snag an artifact, or just poking around an abandoned building as it creaks and groans in the storm around me.

Would I be fine paying money? Absolutely fucking not, but on Gamepass I'm still conflicted.
