Saints Row thread

At least until Saints Row IV came along.
You could at least tell with SRIV that there was heart and soul with its writing and concept.
the original SR games were based on rejecting corporations and authority since they were literal rags to riches gang members who wanted to own property and be the leader of a crew who could overthrow the corporations.
Saints Row 2 and 3, yes. In the original, the Saints (or at least Julius) wanted to stop all the gang wars.

What's with companies responding to legitimate criticism with back-handed remarks?

Because that's how you go viral and get that precious "engagement" on social media: dunking on someone with a clever comeback.

Their account isn't being run by a Developer who is passionate about games, or a Business Man who cares about sales, or an Executive planning to align corporate strategy with long term goals with synergy outside the box moving forward for all stakeholders. It's being run by a Marketer, whose entire training consists of "social media is everything" and "going viral = free advertising".

If it turns out that the marketing was 100% wrong and the game is actually good, I'll buy it... when it inevitably comes to Steam... on a discount.
They've only shown half a minute of gamplay but it looks just like your by the numbers open world shooter. Maybe it'll be marginally better than the older games but those didn't exactly have stellar gameplay. And again, these are the same people whose last game was Agents of Mayhem.

What's with companies responding to legitimate criticism with back-handed remarks? Social media in business meant to streamline communication between the consumer and the company. They do know that if this reboot doesn't sell or perform as well as its projections, they'll be down under? I doubt the audience they're catering to will be long term invested with this product.

But hey, what do I know?

There's gotta be a name for this type of marketing tactic. Where you shit all over the loyal fanbase who built you up so show the new crowd you are trying to engage how you don't need them anymore. Seen it happen far to many times for it to just be isolated incidents of bad marketing executives.

The claim that this is a gentrified Saints Row is pretty accurate.

None of these characters seem like they've faced the hardships that typically are the cause of someone to seek the gang life in the first place, so it comes off as disingenuous. Like wigger kids larping as Crips on tik tok from their parents' house.

Could be wrong but this trailer reminds me of those straight to DVD "sequels" that clearly started out as its own thing until someone shoe horned in a few changes and suddenly "generic horror movie x" becomes Hellraiser V. The only difference is those people do it because they want the fanbase to buy the movie while the Saints Row people seemed to do so out of spite.

Zinyak dancing is one of the best moments i've seen in my life.
I remember a glitch when you still have Zinyak's head in that ending. Happened to me once. Fucking glorious.
Same. I know people hate 4 and as someone who came into the series late I can understand why, but god I loved all the goofy bullshit.
Also sad were not gunna see the indian (?) Chick with the british accent again. I liked her and wanted to see her join the saints :(

I loved doing all the homies' missions, quests and romance options before endgame.

An obvious parody to Mass Effect and Halo's Guilty Spark, but damn. They went above and beyond with that gag.

I uploaded that encounter on Xbox Live; MS removed it due to sexual conduct.

I mean youd think the marketing tactic would be to mollify the user base of people who are most likely going to purchase your game. But yeah nah just go zoomer tumor outrage marketing I guess

Also glasses fag turning out to be a legitimate self insert is hilarious. If people post videos of her being run over in game is that classified as sexist threats of violence?

Or if someone is playing as the said self-insert, and intentionally commits suicide, i.e. by falling, would she press charges against players that do that?

Saints Row Twitter Account just had to respond to an actual fan regarding the poor quality of the trailer and lack of gameplay with this:

Uses a GIF from a previous game to defend their new flaming shit-pile.

These people would get mercilessly bullied by Urkel and that scrawny faggot from Big Band Theory.

So we've got, from left to right: Tattooed Beast Soy-Golem, Stornk WOC, and Urkle's Faggier Cousin.

Why would I even want to play this shit pile full of self-inserts done by people who never did anything with their lives, have no life experience, and aren't even believable as actual existing human beings?

This game is being developed by arrested development millennials who peaked when they "found themselves" in college, then graduated, and now know nothing else about the world. Their "millennial power fantasy" is just the fantasy of being back in college with no responsibility and the belief that they're better than all the non-college plebs.
