the boss is more like a puckish rouge.

The problem is, "pretty out there" weapons don't work when the characters and setting are bland and mundane like we've seen so far. The appeal of someone blasting a car around with a dubstep cannon is completely diminished when the characters are all whining about being failed artists with hefty student loans to repay whilst doing it.

yes and they even removed the whacky sexual factor out of it to some degrees.
also on the remaster they forgot to disable the burning comment, on the original version the character is always on fire and doesn't quip every 4 fucking seconds that he's on fire. at least kinzie still quips every 4 seconds on her missions like on the OG game, making you grow to hate the character, her facial rework is kind of odd though, she looks like a tranny.
and they uglified kia... what in the fuck?

Eh, he doesn't strike me as an anarchist as he runs a gang. Maybe a Feudalist Warlord and even then the Saints likely have their own enforcers. Plus he became President and as far as I know ran it pretty typical as one, well other than he probably threatened Congress with a hellish retribution if they went against him.

Not entirely ruthless, Boss cared greatly for his crew. He'd do just about anything to save them or avenge them.

remaster does run like shit and even has a crash that can happen on the story guardian angel activity you get from pierce, both versions has it.

Where is it coming from? It seriously feels astroturfed. Nothing we see in this trailer is anything we haven't seen before. "They don't feel intimidating" Really? The biker wearing nothing on his chest but his washboard abs and his tattoos and hiding his face with a piece of tech far too expensive to see in this poor neighborhood wielding a gun doesn't intimidate you? The butch bitch with a rocket launcher doesn't intimidate you? The down to business woman in a leather jacket who doesn't even flinch at seeing a dealer get murdered doesn't intimidate you? The only one who doesn't feel intimidating is the black guy in the thick glasses but he's clearly holding his own among the crew at least as much as Saints Row 2 Shaundi.

I ain't ever played 1 (ordered it on ebay for 9 bucks this morning though) but there literally is not a named white character in the saints in 2 that I can recall, and all we get in 3 and 4 is Kinzie and Matt. Saints Row 2 had a gender SLIDER. The clothes in the series has always been unisex! The series is known for its unisex voice options! One of the most common boss designs is an obese black woman with a purple pompadeur and a thick manly cockney accent.

It's all these signs that they've neutered the game. It's like people have been saying: a sanitized version.
These small things add up to shape what kind of "tone" that are going for. People arguing over the definition of woke... Whatever the hell you want to call it, this is it. It is what people are objecting to. Volition thinks that can be sly and get away with these changes without anyone noticing. We see what your going. It's the small touches that give character to the game world.

To be fair, the BDSM gang in BS3 has snipers that dress like one Maximillian Strauss (and you can even buy their snazzy red leather trenchcoat at some point), so adding more vampire shit to SR isn't exactly out of line with some of the aesthetics.
