Silent Hill

I can somewhat agree with this, but I think the biggest problem is that his newer game just have a big lack of focus, and have way too many elements to the story and a lot end up having a lot less care put into them, mgs4, 5 and ds all have at least one aspect of the story that in my opinion was pretty good, mgs4 has the stuff about snakes age and struggle, 5 has huey and a lot of the first chapter, ds has most of the stuff with bb and cliff, if the stories had been solely focus on those aspects I am sure they would have been much better.
The phantom pain's story was largely irrelevant and even itself stopped giving a shit about "vocal cord parasites" half way through the first act. I'm sure that the Silent hills story would have been much of the same pretentious wacky bullshit since that is what he wrote for most of his last years at Konami. Why did he never just go into the film industry? Its been clear for at least a decade that he would rather make "Lord of the rings" length movies with a ton of pointless plot threads and excessive exposition than video games.

Norman Reedus might have been a decent SH protagonist since its not hard to beat the alien android sounding dub dialog of 2 and 3 ("HEATHER I NEED TO TALK TO YOU, ITS ABOUT YOUR BIRTH!").

I firmly believe Silent Hills wouldn't be anything worth remembering given all the energy of that was pushed into Death Stranding with all the same players and that was a total piece of shit.

It was built around being a viral teaser first which is a huge red flag, since you're boxed into what that was and then you need to flesh it out into a game.

PT was just a walking simulator with scripts to make the hallway appear differently each time. The monsters in the trailer didn't even look like silent hill at all. They looked more like creatures out of RE7 than Silent hill and overall felt like an alternate take on RE7.

Kojima and friends clearly didn't get it. There was none of the rust and decay that the town is known for. Bugs were not the theme. rotting human flesh and crumbling buildings with rusty metal to show the passage of time was. Oddly that fan mod I posted about earlier released around the same time as Silent Hills was ramping up hype and did a far better job at conveying the atmosphere.

I never saw this before. Very meh.

There wasn't any mood to PT at all. Yeah it's eerily lit, but that's only going to go so far.

PT was nothing special. I say that as someone who played a kinda port of PT on PC. People only go crazy over it cus holy fuckin Kojumbo made it. It’s insulting that there are people who genuinely think Kojima made Silent Hill. I’ve said it before, but I really don’t fucking like Kojima. He seems like the type of guy who sniffs the paper he wipes with.

We all know this will have James/Pyramidhead shiptease and if any psychological implications would be there at all, they would be "he closeted lol".
I definitely see them injecting the flavor of the month globohomo shit into it.

Half the game or even more is non verbal storytelling and implication. I wonder how ham handed they'll be with everything having to spoonfeed it. There's a lot of shit I didn't even pick up on until I watch some analysis videos.

With this, I'm sure James or Maria will constantly be going "this means this" or "this means that."

That's the thing about the original that James, Eddie and Angela really don't give the player much to work with and it's on the player to read all the files, pay attention to some key dialogue and be mindful of the surroundings and appearance of monsters because they're all vital to the story.

PT wasn't going to be anything like a traditional SH. Some may be in favor of that, but that series has been on a down slope ever since SH2 to try and get one that resonated with people ever since.

You can't develop a game around a viral teaser. While PT was really creepy, it's not something I can see an entire game built around. It was a tightly controlled area for maximum effect on the player.

Just look at what Kojima nd Del Toro did with PT and how much of a shitburger that turned out to be. PT would've been the same thing.

I'm still unsure as to what Konami is up to with the franchise. There's a movie and like 3 games coming out right? I have no idea whos doing what.

I would like to see an actually-decent remaster of the first Silent Hill game on PC, as the original "Silent Hill: Remaster" was shit.

Anyway, I know that there is roughly the same chance of a new Silent Hill game coming out as David Duke becoming an honorary Globetrotter, but one thing I would have liked to have seen was the behavior of the monsters changing depending on how you played the game, as if they were learning or reacting to you.

Some monsters might cooperate with each other to attack as a group as well as use various tactics, others might run to get help rather than taking you on directly, and some might be unwilling to face you at all if you have killed too many of them earlier in the game.

I like the idea of the town of Silent Hill itself adapting in how it defends itself against the protagonist if it feels you are becoming a serious threat.

so Masahiro Ito, the background and creature Artist of the Silent Hill series, has been fired for rewetting Mat Walsh interview with Dr.Phil. no idea who Mat is but knowing the politics going on, i guess his another "alt-right neo nazi"? the left hates.
He's the Transphobe of the Year (a snub to Null, really), notable for making an online documentary titled "What is a Woman?" last year that caused quite a lot of butthurt for claiming that adult human females are women.
For anyone curious, here's the thread Masahiro retweeted, which seems mostly along the same vein of "men are men, and women are women, and gender-reassignment surgery on children is disgusting barbarism."
Ito's made some follow-up tweets saying he has no idea who Walsh is, is not a transphobe, and that he retweeted it because he supports that definition of the word "woman", which is being used arbitrarily in Japan these days. Seems pretty content with blocking the Westerners raging at him and saying they don't understand the context. Dude's over 50 years old, so it's unsurprising he doesn't care about zoomer flaggots' rage. Of course, if he's losing his designer position on Bloober's remake, he might give a shit, but I haven't seen anything from them yet about firing him.

No he wasn't fired. He just has to deal with a bunch of angry gender loons:

Well I think Kojima was fine, until he started huffing his own farts and had too much control of the script. He's just an insufferable hack now and has been for about a decade. I always saw that series as the brainchild of many people, until it wasn't and you have one guy given way too much authority. He was a great director, until he discovered lens flare.
That's how it is with pure "creatives."

Keiji Inafune of Mega Man fame is a similar story. Character illustrator, became producer, started huffing his own farts and making multiple subseries be about one of the few characters he actually designed by himself, Zero, when it was originally not. It got to the point where he was insistent that Zero kill the original main character of one subseries.

Hideo Kojima, from what I understand, started off as a creative/writer and basically lied his way to a director position straight away. He got into video games because he couldn't make it in film.

Contrast this with someone like Koji Igarashi taking over Castlevania. He was a programmer first and foremost before he got into the creative side. From what I understand it was always about games for him. I would say that's why Bloodstained didn't turn out too bad.

Pure creatives need some kind of grounding force. The grounding force can either be experience in a practical field or other people holding their leash. Without such a grounding force, they start making the games more about their personal bullshit.
