The one thing I can gurantee you that they will fuck up is the puzzles. Remember, it's made for "modern audiences" so some fat western tranny dev at bloober will look at something like the clock puzzle and think that it's too hard because TikTok zoomers can't read clocks that aren't digital.

Now imagine if they tried to remake the first game. Said "modern audience" would shit bricks trying to figure out shit like this because you know they would ruin that one too:

I'm going to miss the puzzle difficulty options

Still love “Mary.. where the fuck are you?” His iconic line.
it's probably been posted before but it still makes me laugh

The extended trailer for SH4 is unironically one of my favourite pieces of vidya media ever. I wish there was an updated HD version. Just incredibly well made and captures the mood of the game perfectly. SH4 had a bunch of problems but it is still miles above the shit that came after it.
The apartment was genuinely interesting. Most other things about the game are bullshit to ass in quality due to retreading to pad out the game length, but the apartment has some great eerie vibes in it.

Eerie vibes sums up the game almost perfectly. Hear me out SH thread but maybe 4 would benefit from an HD treatment the most of the bunch... Even has a good excuse for them to rip off a persistent enemy in the form of Walter.

"Im alone now, in our 'special place', no cap"

Zoomer Hill
The place where the bad ending is the best ending

Silent Hill 4 has always been my favorite to actually play. It doesn't hold up anywhere near as much as the first 3 but I was the perfect age to play through it when it was pretty new and so that game has a special place in my heart. when I went through them all again as an older teenager and then once more as an adult I could see the actual flaws with the game clearly after hearing about them forever, and it made me retroactively more disappointed in what followed it than I had been.

There is nothing worse than returning to a game you really liked as a kid and see its actually kind of mid or even bad.

Not that this is the case for SH4, simply that even fans that grew up with it like us need to adknowledge that it was a step backwards (but still far far better than anything that came afterwards).

I do have a soft spot for Origins, even if I do know it wasnt that great too (but again, still better than modern SH)

Most puzzles in horror games nowadays suck. Either they are too obvious or so absurdly hard that the only way to know was looking into the minds of the devs.

A good puzzle feels rewarding when you figure them out, which are most of classic SH's puzzles.

But then again, we live in the age of "oh a puzzle? Looking up the answer immediately" so fuck you if you think modern gamers want to use their noggings (despite the fact they are playing a horror game with puzzles).

Truly a sad day when the original Silent Hill movie stayed more true to the source material/music than so called remakes.

The older I get, the more I appreciate it for what it is. I hold it along wit the original Mortal Kombat movie where they are at least trying to stick with the source material, which is more than can be said for most.

Imagining modern gamers needing knowledge of Shakespeare to complete a SH3 puzzle has me chuckling. It doesn't look good, they'd probably think Shakespeare is an auto-tune music program for your digital studio.
When I make a game, you bet I'm gonna put something like that in there early on to absolutely filter the normies.

I still love SH4 despite all of its problems. Game wise it is one of the worse ones, but the story is one of if not the best story in the entire series. Nails the creepiness.

Someone mentioned (I think in this thread) about having a Japanese copy of SH2 that had English.

Is this the one?

Silent hill, resident evil, devil may cry, viewtiful joe, demons souls, dark souls and many others were exclusively in English even in Japan. It wasnt till around 2012 when japan passed a law requiring japanese media to have japanese voice acting. I think the first RE game to have JP lines was re6 or Rev 1?

Only BB and Sekiro have Japenese dubs. ER, DS3 etc are English VA only. You're just flatout wrong about whatever law you think exists.
If they reverted it since I'm not aware of it but I know that's why 20 year old franchises suddenly included Japanese dubs in their titles.

Yeah but does SH2 have a full English option? SH4 does, I own it but I'm not sure if SH2 does.
