He is actually. The manga plays on that fact as well. But people know that that character is trans because the author just mentioned it in a note for that character sketch.

As for the villian one, her peers actually respect her pronouns and gets trigger easily if someone misgenders them.

Don't know about art but I've had to unfollow anyone in the "fandom" because there's a huge influx of people deciding that mike is a trans lesbian uwu
It really doesn't sit well with me because transing 13 yr olds is fucking weird especially if you're doing it specifically so they can be in a faux-"lesbian" relationship with another 13 yr old. As a lesbian myself comes across as a) fetishy and b) homophobic (calling a het relationship a ~lesbian relationship~) and c) predatory and pedophilic (it's largely adults and older teens pulling this bullshit). Not sure if I'm wording this so well but it seems really fucking weird.

Not sure if there's any art but there are plenty of text posts. I don't really want to go looking for it because it creeps me the fuck out (any "ship" art of the kids does tbh) but you guys can if you want, now that you're aware of the phenomena. Eugh.

The two trans characters, Tiger and Magne, are both from the manga. Most Tumblr fans of BNHA are lazy and have only seen the anime. It's also worth mentioning that neither of them are the "kawaii trans cuties uwu" that Tumblr gravitates towards- they're both pretty damn butch.

Also, Magne doesn't even present, she/he just questions her/his gender, so I'm not even sure it's fair to count her/him as trans. Tiger on the other hand is a post-OP FTM, and not a stereotype to boot, but I haven't seen a single piece of fanart of him on Tumblr. Some progressives they are, ignoring the canon trans man in favor of making the "uguu bois!1!!" trans. It's really telling of how they fetishize trans people.

It also kind of fascinates me how little Tumblr cares about Yoshihiro Togashi's work. Despite being a mainstream shounen mangaka, the dude's included LGBT representation in his work since the early 90s, and in ultra-socially-conservative Japan, no less. People do acknowledge his wife's (Naoko Takeuchi) efforts to do the same thing with Sailor Moon at least, but Sailor Moon is also attractive to Tumblr in that it's "90s!1!!!" and "aesthetic!!1!!".

This is another indicator to me that Tumblr SJWs aren't interested in seeking out media with representation; they'd rather impose their politics on whatever IP happens to be popular than popularize things that favor minorities to begin with.

Funny, I've seen people bitch and whine about both Togashi and Takeuchi's approach to LGBT+. On one hand Togashi has been accused of being homophobic/transphobic because the YYH charas that are LGBT are not the ~pure pretty princesses/princes~ that the SJW's slobber over (Miyuki is one of Yusuke's opponents, Sensui and Itsuki are pretty twisted and their relationship isn't a ~pure precious healthy love uwu uwu~), plus they totally ignore Level E. On the other, Takeuchi has been accused once in a while of making Haruka/Uranus a ~predatory lesbian~ in the manga and Crystal for stealing a kiss from Usagi. And like you said, they conveniently forget that both works were written in the 90's and for kids growing up in a super-hyper conservative society...

You're right, they don't want actual representation. They just want ultra idealized self-inserts to project their bullshit on.
