Sony hate thread

They're also not letting any third-party controllers on their platform to compete with their infinite money glitch. There's quite a few companies that make really good controllers for reasonable prices now while also including high quality parts. I swapped my Xbox controller on the PC with an 8bitdo ultimate controller and it's just as good if not better IMO while coming in cheaper with a charging dock, back buttons, extra function buttons, and hall effect sticks.

Sony also requires some sort of added software/approval to use racing wheels on PlayStation, hence why the PS-compatible ones are more expensive than the non-PS compatible ones, as a "Sony Tax". And that added Sony Tax stands out, because of how the most autistic of Gran Turismo players insist that you aren't really playing the game, if you're not using a DIRECT DRIVE racing wheel.

I don't get how at this point hall effect sticks aren't the default. Surely that shit's cheaper by now than whatever garbage they're packing into these things instead? i.e. fewer moving parts, easier assembly, etc.? The tech's been around forever... why the fuck not use it and (re)gain the reputation of having unbeatable controllers?
Because the industry tries to nickle and dime consumers any way they can. Especially fucking Sony. Buy five new pads per year, goy. I still can hardly believe that these 200 dollarydoos premium pads are a real thing.

What the fuck? I did not know that. That's some peak jewishness.

After the PS3, Sony puts the "Sony Tax" everywhere they can even if it makes their products unaffordable and costs them money in the end. They will kill themselves if it means they can stick a premium admission fee on their viewing.

Xbox only has one USB port on the front, docked switch has zero.
I just bought inexpensive hubs.
The PS5 controller signing is annoying as heck.
Especially as I mostly play fighters, shooters, and beat em' ups.
Some games have "legacy code" or whatever that lets you use a PS4 controller.
I've even found a game or two that basically has stone age support.
(KoF XIV has limited PS3 support)
But yeah, you have to buy their stuff or find a workaround like a Brook adapter or PCB.

Docked Switch has two on the front and I think one behind the plastic flap thing.
They are on the side, not the front.

Unless the old dock has them on the front. The OLED has USB on the side and a LAN/HDMI /power under the flap.

I only have the lite, witch doesn't have a dock, and the OLED.

So maybe we're both right?

They both have ports in the same places, but I see the confusion: you’re referring to the front as “the side with the logo”, while I’m referring to the front as “the side opposite of where the cables come out”. I’ve seen it oriented both ways, but the way I do it has the exposed USB ports facing me.

I'd say ps5 usb ports are a bigger issue than switch usb ports as long as sony's gonna pull shit like buying evo and forcing events to be run on ps5. Especially when the ps5 is so shitty in terms of vent design that using the ports on the back can result in damage to both the controller and ps5 itself, as we saw at last year's evo.
These companies loathe wired controllers. But it's probably more of just hating USB and not wanting consumers to be able to plug anything into their consoles. The corporations need control over every aspect of gaming and consumers are not allowed to do anything on their own or make any decisions.

If that was true, they'd have gotten rid of cables for the controllers entirely, forcing the consumer to purchase their faggot charging docks.

Yep, logo is facing forward.

Sony and MS do not have first party wired controllers as far as I can see. There was no wired Dualshock in the PS3 era. You have to purchase something third party that resembles the official controller but is slightly off likely for legal reasons. And they'll never cut the cord because of things like arcade fightsticks or steering wheels. But for the standard controller? They've been pushing for wireless heavily for over a decade now.

Guess I assumed you were talking about any kind of wired, not just solely wired. Point taken; I absolutely agree.

All of the big three let you plug the official controller into USB and use it with a wired connection.

This is the secret correct way to have your switch dock. Logo facing out is marketing nonsense.

I guess sony saw that enough gamers (read: podpeople) were buying the xbone eite controllers they decided to jump in on the "elite controller" sham right along. Nintendo's grift has a different angle: from the box you're saddled with a useless piece of junk that can barely be called a controller so it is assumed you'll fork extra $$ for the actual "pro" version.
