Marginally on-topic, but I always secretly hope there will be an episode with an action scene set to that KISS song.

So I officially caught up today in order to prepare for the new Stevenbomb next week. I'm kinda conflicted about Pearl. I love deep and flawed characters in fiction and I think her possibly being in love with Rose brings out an interesting dynamic, since everything we know about homeworld seems to imply that they're not big on emotions and the concept of love in general. But goddamn. Whenever Rose gets brought up, she suddenly becomes 10x more unlikable. From being super rude to Greg in "We Need to Talk", to projecting her crush on two children in the sword fighting ep to being so obsessed with Rose that she didn't even care that Steven appeared to fall to his death in "Rose's Scabbard", I don't know. I like the fact that it brings out a human (for a lack of a better word) in her but at the same time, it kinda makes me feel like some of the choices she makes go beyond being sympathetic. I guess I'll see how it plays out. Oddly enough, I actually felt sort of bad for her in the Sardonyx episode, especially after we got an explanation on what Pearls are supposed to be.
Other things:
"What Can I Do For You" is an awesome song and is by far my favorite on the show
I can't wait for the next episode. I'm dying to see how Ruby and Sapphire met.
My friends (Who started watching the show after I did) say that I remind them of Peridot. I don't know how to take this.

There is... There sure fucking is...

Peridot betrays everyone (because she loves Yellow Diamond's vagina was more fulfilling for her), Steven becomes too old for Connie, and Garnet's lesbian relationship is explained away to us for those who didn't get it! Enjoy.

Honestly, after rewatching some Amethyst episodes (Reformed, On The Run), I have gone from somewhat liking Amethyst to absolutely being despising her. And it's not even her own fault, it's the shitty writing. In On The Run, she suddenly becomes angst incarnate and a completely flat character, and in Reformed she acts like a complete irresponsible jerk for no reason with little to no provocation. Some people would say that she's still like a child because of her age compared to the other Gems, but I just think it's shit writing and little buildup or no mention of her origins before On The Run aired.

Also this essay critique brings up a lot of good points, especially on the writing and the art direction. I'm excited for what this week's episodes hold.

That essay actually does bring up quite a few good points. Especially with the animation and art style. I mean for a show with a lot of action and "drama bombs", you'd expect better animation from the Koreans working on this show. But no, we get a lot of unfitting faces; inconsistent heights; rubbery, weightless animation (and not just in the fight scenes, at that); overly simplified character designs and plenty of smaller errors that they screwed the pooch at (This for example, lasted an entire scene). And that's before getting into some of the more questionable design choices.

The animation alone is part of the reason I can't get into the series. Not the only thing mind you (For one, the show's pretty damn schizo when it comes to telling its story, it either pads out stories or condenses them. And to top if off, most of the characters are rather unlikable).

(I know I'm not speaking for all of us... but!) Just about none of us here (especially those here who are bigger fans of this show than I ever wish to be.) do - and I actually like this show, myself - but I've seen far better shit (I'm just not saying examples here 'cause this ain't the place) that dare calls itself cartoons - mostly because those I like DON'T appeal to scum like SJWs. But what do I know???

I wonder why we're not seeing any lolcows / halals for SJ Universe as of late - I hear someone committed suicide over this shit again, due to their art being chastised, recently...

The people that worked on the show called out the tumblr crowd for their behavior in regards to harassing a fan artist (for not drawing characters "fat enough" or "ethnic enough") to the point that she attempted suicide. The tumblr fandom's reaction to being called out was to claim that the show's workers supported pedophellia(among other things) and claimed the usual "oppressed" things they always do. I'd imagine SU has fallen a bit out of the tumblr-SJW's graces because of it.
