The Binding of Isaac - funny feces

It starts up with God telling Isaac's mom to murder him, doesn't it? As if God is just some lunatic or something.
Yeah, it's based on the eponymous biblical story of The Binding of Isaac, including an intervention by God to stop her in the first ending. The game also hints at the voice commanding her not being God at all in one of the loading screens, but since nothing in Isaac's story is really concrete, it's hard to say how much of what's shown is real or just his imagination (including Mom trying to kill him in the first place.) I never really felt the game was a condemnation of religion or religious people.

I don't know if the game was made with the intention of being a condemnation on religion, but I've seen enough faggots say it is to be annoyed.
I've watched a friend do a 180 thinking the anti-religious undertones in the the original flash game's story were awesome back when he was an edgy athiest young adult (back when that was the fad), now he's grown up, found God and dislikes the game for the exact same reasons.

At most, the game condemns hardcore Christian fundamentalism & tele-evangelism (represented mainly by the Dogma boss), since it's implied watching those kinds of broadcasts is what drove Isaac's mother to madness

Isn't it revealed it was all a big misunderstanding (before it was revealed the whole game was a dream)?

Funny how the same edgy atheists who loved to bring The biblical Isaac as a gotcha to why religion is evil grew up to sacrifice their children's mental and health wellbeing tor social status.

In the voiceclips you hear during the Ascent before the Home level, it's clear that she was actually going insane due to religious mania

I started playing TBOI on my old shitty laptop and noticed something funny while trying to beat the "Delete This" challenge (The TM Trainer one). The game already crashes semi-regularly on account of the bad computer, which is fine as it normally lets me resume from the same room once it starts back up. However, if it crashes while holding TM Trainer I'm not given the continue option and have to start a new game every time. I wonder if this is intentional and it's programmed to not let you resume from a crash caused while holding TM Trainer, so as to give it that risk factor seeing as how crashes are always a possibility using it, regardless of hardware.

Nicalis have added full online co-op. It's glitchy and buggy.
Repentance+ is a free DLC expansion to The Binding of Isaac: Repentance that was released on November 19, 2024.

WARNING: Repentance+ online co-op is still in beta state and it is very unstable and currently suffers from the input delay, bad lag compensation, desync that can disconnect all players and mix up host's save data with desynced user and if they crash, save data is permanently destroyed, or if they complete the run without gaining any new marks, it can sometimes replace the old save data when restarting the run. Play it at your own risk. You can always turn off Repentance+ content in Steam DLC manager.
They've also made some balance changes and bug fixes. However, blowing up a reroll machine still rerolls items twice, fighting Greed/Super Greed in a secret room adjacent to Challenge/Boss Challenge room still makes it impossible to blow up the wall between two rooms and it is still possible to get to Cathedral/Sheol without a single damage/fire rate upgrade.
Does anyone even care at this point?

I recently looked into TBoI community on various platforms and holy hell, is it full of pozzled faggots and sex degens

What happened? I dont remember it being this bad a few years ago

Honestly I'm surprised it wasn't that way earlier, the game was pretty much made for post edgelord phase trannies with it being focused on atheism, shit and violence revolving children.

If I remember correctly the last released ending was way too happy compared to the dark tone it had earlier.

From what I can see, a lot of it seem to come from Edmund pandering to gender specials a year or so ago:

Now wherever TBoI spaces I go, I see faggots and trannies obsessing over kid character's gender identity. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them are also trans kids defenders and potential sex pests

Wasn't Isaac's blonde wig and pink dress a gift from his mother?

I'm sure that making his mom be the cause of his genderfluidity isn't a good thing since the other playable female characters* are both the first sinner & mother of all demons.

As for Eden, they're meant to be Isaac without any influence from his mom & dad and thus a RNG character

*Bethany i don't count since she came from a mod at first.

simply dont interact with the community and the game is fun

anyway ive been playing a bunch recently and it has made me rage more than probably any other game i've played
I've tried to play the online mode with my friends and it's always buggy as hell unfortunately. It's great singleplayer but I don't think Nicalis will bother ever fixing it unless they make another huge DLC again (which will probably never happen)

Used to play this a ton back in the day, got Godhead and everything. Really was a ton of fun, but I don't think I'll return to it anytime soon.

My take on the themes is this: the game certainly has its anti-Christian themes in places, primarily directed in Isaac's Mom's deteriorating mental condition being heavily affected by televangelist programs and the parallels to the Biblical Isaac and Abraham. I think infinitely more prevalent, though, is that the most powerful items in the game are direct references to the Christian God, while Satan and his demons are presented as villains in every situation. The closest to "striking back" against Heaven you get within the game is fighting the angels in the angel rooms, and that even leads you on a path to Satan, while taking the opposite path has you fighting Isaac himself rather than some ridiculous battle against God or Jesus.

I dunno, I think there are a lot of points you could make that the game presents an anti-Christian message, but you'd have to be ignoring a lot of pro-Christian or ambivalent messages to say that it's the whole point of the story. I think the point is that an edgelord made a really fun game and wrote a story about a dead kid who was fucked in the head to go with it.

There's been more endings since you've played, ones that kind of explore both his parents relationship and how his mother really went insane after his dad left. It shifted toward domestic trauma and dialled back the anti-religious sentiment significantly I think. The Beast ending has a penultimate boss that embodies the television itself, from which a static foetus emerges named "Dogma", later morphing in to an angel for phase 2. Then you go to hell, kill the 4 horseman, the Beast and ascend to Heaven:

There's been a lot of new content with Repentence.

In other news, I fumbled the best Tainted Lost run you could ask for today. I got blank card, holy card, jumper cables and the missing poster, literally everything you want for survivability, then choked on boss rush. SMDH.

Tainted Lost is an alternate harder version of the Lost (all characters recieved alt versions with Repentence, they're effectively new characters). You get a single mantle shield that doesn't replenish between rooms, instead you need to find a special card that gives you another one-use mantle shield. Hence why blank card and any charge replenishing items are a Godsend for T.Lost. I'm pissed.

Youngins have literally just discovered that Edmund McMillen is into fucked up shit and "uncovered" the This Is A Cry For Help forum.
https://archive.is/xY1Ye

And of course had to format it in the best way possible, a gay-ass exposé document "archiving" the "journey" of uncovering it, complete with Discord screenshots discussing it with their zoomer pals.
As well as plugging in a discord rapper friend of the OP and his socials for some reason?
https://archive.is/uwyoH

tried contacting isaac discord yt ppl and turkey tom
:story:

Edmund McMillen responded calling it a slanderous lie and that he had been contacted by these retards before in a failed attempt at blackmail
It checks out with the document having been created months ago, and only "released" now to coincide with the release of the trailer for Edmund's upcoming game to maximize viewership.
Also tracks with the alleged people behind the document being grifting attentionseeking faggots.
