The Elder Scrolls

Dark elf or Breton. They're both really well rounded and their women almost look good even without mods.
my boy, you are on the cusp of gigachad status
but i am fond of the dark aliens somewhat

So, fun little question I wanted to ask you guys: what's your favorite playable race in the Elder Scrolls franchise? We've all got that one race that we just love to play; what's yours?

I prefer the Nords and Argonians; the former because they're badass fantasy Vikings, and the latter because I'm fairly certain they counter-invaded Oblivion.

I've been playing Daggerfall Unity this winter and having a blast. Highly recommend with a couple extra mods (if you get the GOG version which has a bunch of mods included):
There's also a mod that lets you see out of windows:

There is just something about how voice actors for mods speak that makes me cringe super hard. It's the same with 'twitter voice actors', specifically the women for some reason. It's like they are trying too hard or something. I can only assume its because most actual voice actors are actual trained actors, while 'twitter VAs' are just internet goblins that think they can act.
There's always an off-putting amateurishness to it that makes them feel out of place. This is also often coupled with the fact that the lines written for them are generally terrible, even by Bethesda standards.

All the girls are doing generic seductive waifu voices and the men generally sound too young or talk too slow. I think Warlockracy mentioned how every voice actor for a mod talks.

Way. Too. Slow. Because. They. Are. Acting. And. Trying. Too. Hard.

Immersive NPCs has some genuinely great voice talent though. Anum La is my waifu and I will die for her.
Maybe a full mage? Being a mage in Skytim is pretty miserable, but that just makes it more satisfying to pull off.
There are mods that add a great number of additional spells I found made my full mage build a ton of fun, to the point any other build felt really dull in comparison.

Well I beat Tribunal today, and boy was it a PITA. It's not just the combat, but just getting around. I wasn't expecting such a sharp difficulty spike after doing the main quest. I'm making a note that next time I'll have to level up more. I'm going to start Bloodmoon next.

What level are you at, and how much money are you dumping into trainers? The game economy became nothing for me about the time I met Vivec and I had to stop myself from buying levels to not make the game piss-easy. Even Gaenor when I got to him made me wonder 'really?' when I came across him.

I am at level 20. I haven't been using trainers, but I guess I could start now.

If you ever do a modded playthrough next time, you could try using this, this, and this. The first two rebalance the DLCs to make them as if they were part of the original game from the beginning. When Bethesda first released them, they balanced them for high-level player characters who had already completed most of the game's content, which is silly since the vast majority of people playing them will not be that original subset of players from 2002. Also this mod will stop the obnoxious Dark Brotherhood attacks from happening right away.

I tend to stick with Argonians, dunmer, or imps. I'm sick of viking larp and very few games let you be a weird lizard person who sounds like they smoke forty packs a day. Dunmer just look cool and have the most interesting continent, and imps are a good generic human guy race without being quite as dull as Bretons.
Ah, my n'wah.
I said before in this thread but i'm gonna recall; by design Dunmners and Imperials are hybrid races. One is more suited to Stealth and the other is Combat-based with Magic support.
Anyway, in both Morrowind & Oblivion i'm always taking Atronach or Apprentice birthsigns. Magicka is important in those builds.

Remiel's nice just because she's a normal companion in a sea of elf waifu bait and furry shit (Inigo's a bro, he gets a pass). I have a soft spot for Vilja for that reason, she's probably the prototypical terrible voice acting Skyrim companion but at the same time she doesn't really have a boohoo tragic backstory like every companion nowadays.
I've been playing with Remiel and Xelzaz for the first time and I have a hard time with their voice acting.
Mostly because I have probably around one thousand hours on this game now and hearing VAs that are not only new, but also don't sound like they're about to die of boredom is very alienating.

Honestly aside Neloth, Skyrim's voice acting didn't blow me away to say the least.

Remi and Xelzaz are probably the best the modding community has for followers. If you want a cringey, don't-cut-yourself-with-that-edge, British follower I present to you Daegon Kaekiri. The mod author is also a "singer" that makes shitty zoomer pop music.

Damn, that's some bad music.

If we're talking voiced followers and bad taste, I heard people recommend 'Lucifer' the Argonian a lot and a follower called Gore. Gore is supposed to be some 2serious4u male follower and his page radiates with the mod author's 'I was diddled by my dad and that's why I'm bi' issues, yet he's still trying to honour people's request for a romance. The whole follower scene proves that people are desperate to turn Skyrim into some kind of visual novel to have something to connect with, I've tried it myself, but if I let my game be carried by a handful of mod characters it makes it feel like I'm running around in a fairground even more.

Do you guys know any armor where I can make it look like a death knight like so:

Nexus got jackshit and I’m even willing to try lovers lab despite my distaste for porn mods. I just want to make my cool orc death knight with johnskyrim’s shadowmourne mod.

I've got no lead on that exact armor but here's some lesser known modding sites that might have something close:

The blogspot one is a patreon exclusive (lol) so if you're looking at this post in a few months it probably won't work.

Thanks I’ll look through the trash to find some gold.

Who else is really thankful that Tamriel Rebuilt keeps the spirit of the original game?
I'm talking about outlanders being swindled, Indoril nobles being unapproachable, and Orcs being unaplogetic Daedra-worshippers.
Banjar Long-Face shows off the Nord character better than all of Skyrim/ESO NPCs combined - not that I would know.

Going to double-post because of BREAKING NEWS:
Morrowboomers may rejoice, as Snorkel the Dolphin has reuploaded his mods under a new account, stupidcatgirl.
He's the author of Morrowind parody mods like Morrowind 2, which is where memes like Fargoth Ur and ""Greetings, Nerevar. Have you heard of Undertale?" originated.
The mods are giant shitposts that most likely give you brain cancer, but they're legitimately entertaining. They parody terribly-made old Morrowind mods, which isn't something you really find elsewhere, as well as TES and the fantasy genre as a whole. His YouTube channel used to have showcases of his mods which gave a nice distilled insight into the humour, but those were removed alongside the mods when he nuked his accounts a few years ago (2019 if I recall). His new channel has a new video that somewhat captures the spirit, however, and some YouTubers covered the mods in videos.
The removal was sudden, so a lot of people were unable to experience these mods unless they had a local copy or knew someone who did - this was unlikely since the mods were obscure. The video showcases themselves are probably lost forever, unless Snorkel reuploads them. Hopefully, the mods being back up will allow more people to experience them - though it seems likely that they'll get taken down again. If you're interested, I would recommend downloading them while they're still available.
Snorkel is a funny guy, so I hope the trolls that got him to pull his stuff last time leave him alone. Rebranding himself as stupidcatgirl/nekolover91 with his gender set to "Not Telling" might indicate that drama is not far off, however.
