Because he repeats the same lines over and over in a public space in the most popular city in the game, it's really not that complicated. It's the same reason people hate Nazeem.
Radiant dialog could have prevented this. I'd rather have NPCs that have awkward talks about mudcrabs than NPCs that have the same scripted conversations on repeat.

Hello.
What do you want, Breton trash?
I saw a mudcrab the other day. Horrible creatures.
I see.
What's the word of the other provincies of Tamriel?
Nothing i want to talk about.
Goodbye.
See you.

Anyone got predictions for TES6? I got one.

Bethesda is going to go all in on procedural generation. I'm talking quests, locations, dialogue, items, there's going to be a lot of procedural slop. Daggerfall had the map, Oblivion had radiant AI, Skyrim had radiant quests, Fallout had legendary system, Starfield was almost entirely procedural. They've been trying to get to this point for years and I think we're at the point where they can do it. Procedural dialogue a la ChatGPT procedurally voiced by Elevenlabs. There's been too many developments in this tech which is right up Todd's alley for him not to do it. He said for years the reason they didn't make TES6 was the technology wasn't there. Maybe he was waiting on this?

Picture this, TES6 set in Hammerfell with ship building mechanics. You get a radiant quest from Trayon Redsword to explore his families ancestral ruins in sunken Yokuda. You sail to the procedurally generated location, find the epic eponymous Redsword, actually just an iron sword with 5 points of damage fatigue, and return it to him. He lore dumps whatever stupid story the AI gives him, gives you 50 gold and walks away never to be seen again. Repeat.

I can't see Todd having these options and not going for it. Yokuda gives him a good opportunity, just retcon it as being damaged by a dragonbreak or numidium or whatever dumb shit so that its temporally unstable, boom you have an excuse to randomly generate an infinite number of islands over there.

I don't think they have the coders anymore to pull it off, but that was my impression of the next "wow" moment for RPGs, and maybe what Todd had in mind at some point. Making a 3d RPG with the non-storyline NPCs all generated.

I actually really like this about Skyrim. Millennial writing has ruined "fuck", and the writing works fine without characters resorting to it, as it feels more tonally appropriate.

Excessive swearing is a product of modern fantasy. Nobody in Morrowind or Skyrim says a modern day swear, they use in-universe slurs and appropriately medievally insults. It helps the world feel far more immersive than something like "fuckface" ever would.
I agree completely, tired of the overuse of swearing in modern games. Immersion breaking.

Star citizen but instead of spaceships its boats on water.
They'll abandon the skill based system completely and go over to + EXP from kills

I use the Experience mod in Skyrim that does that and gives you exp for discovering locations, completing quests, and reading books and it's way better than skill based. They'll switch to that system because there will only be three skill trees: Armor, Weapons, and Stealth. Magic will be only a few destruction spells and a healing spell. There won't be any enchanting or alchemy.

I tend not to touch character overhauls for anything before Skyrim, looks jarring the more you go back in the series and try to make it "prettier."
I think Oblivions mer design compared to Skyrim and Morrowind is far more jarring myself.

I just wish I understood why the f OCO decides to change NPC routines and such to the point that it breaks Colovian Traders and the Horse Armor DLC.

You do have a point. I guess I love the concept of Sheogorath as a deity of madness rather than how he is actually written.

The extent of their procgen tech was showcased in Starfield. In some ways, the biggest tragedy of Starfield was that it came out on the cusp of AI being useful for generating maps.

My prediction is that it will be the last Bethesda TES title. Todd will retire, Microsoft will close the studio and throw everything at the Zenimax faggots who make the MMO.

It would be far more interesting if they had Jyggalag invade, have it be a reflection on Tiber Septim subjugating Tamriel with Numidium.
I really like a Jyggalag focused DLC in the next Elder Scrolls.
We have Hircine, Sheorogath and Hermamora.
Azura technically is in base Morrrowind, same as Mehrunes Dagon in Oblivion.
