The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

I think you guys are overthinking it. Kong beat Godzilla in the 60s because Kong was a good monster and Godzilla was a "bad" monster. Godzilla was defeated in the first two films as well, and Mothra also beat him IIRC.

It's more unclear these days. But doesn't this company lose the rights to Godzilla after this newest film? Do they still keep the rights to King Kong? I could see Kong winning if that is the case... They'd want to keep making Kong films.

Also true. In these movies, the bad monster almost always loses to the good one. Had Godzilla not done his face turn, he'd have been a perennial loser.

And yes, he not only lost to Mothra in 1964...he lost to her babies!

To be quite honest king kong just isn't the name it used to be and I can't see him carrying a franchise

Place your bets, buckos. We're one week away. My money is on Big G and/or a BatmanvSuperman cop-out.
Their first fight was a draw so anyone expecting a decisive victory is buying into the marketing.

I recall it existing but I don't think I ever checked it out.
When I was a wee tardlett, my grandpa got me a subscription to the magazine, and once a month this kaiju autism periodical would come to the house. It was a gateway to rubber monster cheese I had never heard of before. It's where I learned about Gamera, Johnny Sokko, UltraMan, and a multitude of others. Back before the internet, it was the only way to learn that some of these movies existed. I'm sure if its 'still around it's probably terrible/woke.

Godzilla initially beats up Kong, Kong beats up Godzilla with his laser breath absorbing club, then they team up to take down Mecha-Godzilla and the end the movie with an unclear compromise of either mutual respect or they want to jerk each other off.

Has anyone seen the first episode of Singular Point, it came out today on Netflix.

So wait, are we not getting it all at once? It's gonna air weekly on Netflix? (And I thought it's Japan-only?)

Seems like it's going to be a weekly release but it is airing here in the states first then Japan in April.

Huh. Alright, I'll go see if my little brother wants to check it out, then.
