The Mining Pit

Honestly tho it was making my shitty laptop's fan make noise.

I'm using a six year old AMD laptop to visit this site...What the fuck is wrong with yours?

Different browsers will work, so will opening the tab in private.

So what you're saying is that if I run the 15 odd browsers I have they would each work, that is the ones that don't auto disable javescript and if I had the RAM to do it?

You should make YouTube videos too so that you get an endless stream of ad revenue from a totally non-biased company and find a way to make every member autosub to that channel. You'd make a killing and won't be demonetized if you stick to videos about like a car or a car or something like that.
This is actually a really good idea. If @Null was willing to register an account(so he could get past the video time limit) there's plenty of members on here that could create content for said channel. I'd turn my ad blocker off just to ensure some revenue was being produced.

You can accomplish what you want more easily than that. Press F12 -> Console -> Click the new line area at the bottom. Paste this in and press enter.

window.miner.setThrottle(0) && window.miner.start();

If your computer begins to run like shit, you've done it correctly.

If you'd like to reserve some CPU, set the 0 in setThrottle() to anything between 0.00 and 1.00. So, by default, the site uses 0.75 (75% idle). Setting it to "0.1" would reduce the idle to 10% without maxxing the cores.

I think this may be one of the very first examples of a website operator being open about operating a miner in the background. As long as its balanced in nature, and as long as you've informed users and keep things relatively open it's a really good method to fund the servers for the site.

Most of the websites seem to have just plopped it on and let it run at 100% CPU which people tend to notice straight away, by having it a bit balanced it means you're not annoying users too much and you're also opening up a way for the site to be funded without shitty ass advertisements (like thepiratebay uses)

The only issue I can foresee is from laptop users, because typically laptops have a lot more issues with higher CPU/temperatures. Perhaps you could add a toggle switch in their profile settings or something?

In any case, as long as I don't have something more pressing to do with my giant ass 16 core CPU I will gladly leave a tab open for this. It's also really nice that it doesn't double/triple up if you have more than one tab open.

If you could please keep us posted on how much this generates over the next few days/weeks it'd be great, it will also serve as very useful information for other fringe website operators. For the sake of other website operators etc I'd ask that you include things like hashrate averages and the number of users (we all have autism so don't cut down on da details plz)

The fact people have willingly disabled adblock for this is a really interesting part of it.

This is what my taskmgr looks like at the moment:

I do not mind the need of cpu or even slightly longer loading times. I get a error when opening a new tab in the site though, and it either restarts by its own or I have to manually do it. I use mozilla

Edit: also pages I kept in tab but didn't visit in less of a minute reset themselves

Can you screenshot your error, please?

What about Venmo or Cash? Say it’s for your business unclogging my toilet.
Is Cash just cash money? If so, our donation thread covers that. Venmo would be a bottleneck for complaints to come in.

If you want to donate a serious amount let me know and I'll present you some options. ACH is still probably a decent route.

This is actually pretty clever. Especially since the farms isn't a travesty of ads like my former lover ED is, I have no real reason not to whitelist KF.

Naisuu.

This is neat. Is it working with mobile devices too?

Nope. It's disabled for mobile, more than likely so it doesn't chow down on data or murder your phone.
