I'm a member of both the NRA and GOA. The GOA is much better from a philosophical standpoint but honestly, for all its faults the NRA has still done a lot of good. There's a reason why liberals fume over it.
At first, I supported the NRA but later became critical of them because it felt like they didn't do anything to protect gun rights.

Yeah this is the most moderate opinion on him I've seen rn

They aren't as hardline as I am (and as I assume you are) but they have been responsible for lots of great stuff - for example, they were instrumental in McDonald v. Chicago, which cemented the 2A as an individual right. They've also been responsible for lots of state-level legislation. However they do play the political game and as such, they pull their punches in areas which would seem too controversial. So that's why I branched out to GOA as well.

Actually, all this talk makes me wonder. I haven't been following this case because in my opinion it's 100% all natural kangaroo and watching it would be like watching the world's most boring children play make believe, but I am curious. Are they (or, I suppose, were they) still trying to argue that Floyd was suffocated? Because medically speaking that's actually very easy to rule out. There are numerous indicators of asphyxiation, the lack of which would rule it out. I'm sure this has been brought up by the defense, yes? Hypercapnia, blood pH, that sort of thing?
It's a little hard to tell WHAT exactly prosecution is attributing to cause of death, but it mostly seems to come down to "positional asphyxia," claiming that the weight of Chauvin alone was enough to compress his lungs too much for him to be able to breathe. Early on they had Donald Williams, ghetto MMA champion, to testify that they were cutting off his carotid artery circulation (even the state's own witnesses disproved that), and otherwise they're just claiming it was positional asphyxia and that Chauvin basically just used his knee on the back of Floyd's neck to strangle him, or maybe that Chauving and his 95lbs of gear were too heavy for Floyd to expand his chest. I dunno. The prosecutors haven't quite worked that one out yet. I'm sure they'll figure it out by closing arguments on Monday.

there's been a lot of crying witnesses including literal children. there argument is mostly "it's so sad this dindu died". that said on paper their argument is still that he was suffocated with purpose and great malice of forethought.

edit: sorry for double post I thought the thread was moving faster than it is

If Minneapolis citizens weren't autistic and cucks they'd shoot every faggot white boy/girl wearing antifa shit clothing and niggers trying to loot, burn, murder and destroy. Fuck the cops, politicians and the national guard they aren't going to protect you, your homes and businesses. Stop being afraid of the consequences of saving your home ans be proud you did.

Lmao this isn't Portland or Seattle, it's definitely dindus doing 99% of the shit in MI. That said this country really is quite pathetic that the deaths of countless people and billions in damage is considered inevitable directly because of a media narrative which targeted and brainwashed the dumbest and most incompetent members of the population (sheltered children, minorities, etc).

We know trust fundy white kids will be driving there. Either way shoot the niggers rampaging

Alright, here's the summary of just Day 3, which somehow spanned 60+ fucking pages (between page 74 and 136). You absolute madlads. Fuck me, there was so much shit just in this 'summary' alone that I had to break it up into sections to try and improve the readability.

(Day 1 and Day 2 are here).

03/31: Day 3
Pretrial
It's the stroke of midnight, and @NerdShamer makes the cardinal mistake of linking a LegalEagle video. Doesn't he know we're the Rekieta fan forum? Anyway, this kicks off a pages-long debate about ethics in Youtube Lawyering. Meanwhile @artilleryfroth, exactly one week before his infamous chimp-out at our lovable fatass lawyer (Spoiler alert), reiterates that the media knows a terrifying amount of information about the 'anonymous' jurors (that's all by design, of course). A little while later: discussions on whether George Floyd suffocated to death, whether a knee on the neck would even cause that, why we even need all these witnesses when they seem to have so much video footage of the incident, and why so many people seem to think this drugged-out felon is Black Jesus. @Wy4M puts in some solid work with a background on Floyd's arrest, a background on Floyd's history as a gangbanger and Federal informant, some choice mugshots (and more here), and plenty of examples of knees on necks during proper arrest technique.

Trial
Day 3 of the trial begins! The firefighter is back, to answer 4 minutes worth of questions that they couldn't ask her the previous day because she was busy being a massive bitch. Let's call the next witness: another black teen to tug at the jurors' heartstrings! This one works at a deli. Or a phone repair shop. Those are basically the same thing, right? The security footage shows a high-as-fuck Floyd, and he's wobbling around and wielding a banana. He then proceeds to use counterfeit money to pay, which is what set this whole debacle in motion of course (for those of us who somehow missed this). Amid a brief debate on whether robot cops are a good idea, @General Disarray takes the opportunity to drop an ever-apt link to 'Confessions of a Public Defender'.

Hey, has anyone else noticed that we're taking a lot of breaks? Let's take this latest breather to debate at length whether Twitter is representative of the United States or if it's just a bunch of women bitching at each other all day. In the meantime, CNN comes out with a steaming hot take that the shop should've just taken the fake money! It would've just been deducted from the cashier's paycheck, what's the fuss? Anyway, @formershroomeryuser keeps sperging out but it's the defense's turn now. "Did you see Mr Floyd do his little dance?" Did this kid see anything, actually?

Ape Floyd is the next witness! And maybe they should have reminded this one who his 'teammates' are while they were busy filtering out his ghetto commentary from their video evidence. Meanwhile @formershroomeryuser is still trying to convince us all that "for every good cop there is a bad cop", and that cops murdering people in broad daylight for fun happens all the time, and that he's totally not mad guys and that in fact if he had to guess then we are the ones who are mad. Then there's a debate about whether the police knew about Floyd's habit of crying wolf and whether that even matters. The ABC is convinced that the prosecution is winning. People are again horrified that the store clerk deducts counterfeit transactions from his cashiers' paychecks, which prompts a friendly Farms discussion about Chinese counterfeiting.

Oh right, the trial's come back in session amid all of our nonsense. Apparently the break was because a juror was having a panic attack! This latest witness is 60 years old with a 3rd-grade education level and the mental dexterity of a toddler, but even he could manage to don a suit for a court appearance, answer questions respectfully, and knows better than to fight cops. Oh wait nevermind, here comes the crying (just as planned). But wait, he's staying the course! He's just reporting the facts as he knows them: that Floyd was foaming at the mouth and needed to lol calm down.

Just in time for a break! Damn, Cahill really loves his breaks, huh? It's almost meme-able at this point. Anyway, 'Fat Kamala', the journalist caught taking photographs after the previous day's testimony, has outed herself on Twitter and is getting lit up in the replies (also here). At this point we're all agreed that we're pretty much looking at riots no matter what the verdict is.

The final witness for the day is a white pony-tailed boomer IT guy and we're going to watch the surveillance video again. Yawn. Hey guys, what's jury nullification? Damn, this body-cam footage of George Floyd spazzing out really isn't helping the prosecution's case. Are they trying to deliberately throw this thing? The cops seem professional and downright courteous given the circumstances. Woah, wait a minute. Is that Chauvin's knee on Floyd's back and not his neck? That's not good. Whew, feeling a little sleepy though; let's just flip over to CNN and MSNBC's sudden extensive coverage of Joe Biden instead. We love Joe Biden, and we also love CNN, those accelerationist rascals. Also imagine being the poor store clerk in all of this, who may have unintentionally triggered the next civil war over a fake $20 bill.

Post-trial
But it's time to shut it down for today. The trial, that is. @formershroomeryuser is still seething though, hours later. We're all so mad! And he's so unmad that he's taken to shitting up other people's profile pages. 4chan apparently raided the Reddit Chauvin trial megathread, but they better watch out: the jannies will take their Reddit karma away! The traditional post-trial spergatory turns to the topics of BLM, the inevitable riots, sudden onset tard-strength, America's racial history, the Philadelphia bombings, how black people should act online and also in real life, the cocktail of drugs that were in Floyd's system when he died, and goat escapology. By the way, those court videos with Floyd holding the banana were photoshopped, right? ...Please?

Memes
On to the memes. First some congratulations to @Wayneright for making the Fentanyl shuffle meme, which manages to make its way to 4chan and then back again to be reposted in the thread, all in the span of 10 minutes. Also, we have "This is my banana!". Curious George somehow (and hilariously) generates some immediate pearl-clutching. Nelson is a friend to everyone and Banana Lives Matter. Don't forget to watch Godzilla vs King Kong. The "Floyd's Feed and Seed" video is reposted again as proof positive that God exists and he is a /pol/ack. "I can't breed!" for Transgender Day of Visability (why is that even a thing). The prosecution calls an AI hologram of George Floyd as a surprise witness! (A disappointing number of you fell for this.) Chauvin Sneed and Dance Dance Floydolution. And last but not least, @Windex Drinker made a meme about the @formershroomeryuser chimp-out.

Hell, I think more people in the US should join Gun Owners of America and Firearms Policy Coalition because they've done more to protect gun rights and the 2nd Amendment than the NRA.
What a lot of people don't get about the NRA is it isn't a rights organization. They could give two shits about your rights. It's an industry lobby and is concerned with the profits of the industry. They are concerned about your rights to buy firearms only insofar as it profits them. So they're definitely going to oppose any measures that interfere with their ability to sell them, and incidentally benefits gun owners, since obviously, you have to be able to buy them for this to happen. And to be fair, as such organizations go, NRA membership comes with some pretty good perks.

But I agree that both of those other, less known organizations have done a lot more for citizens, because that's actually their purpose, unlike the NRA's. Also they don't do a lot of the dumb shit the NRA does, like show up at mass shootings and have that fucking lunatic Wayne LaPierre start babbling like an idiot before the bodies are even cold. Heston was a lot better speaker on the issue.
