Tickle-heads (The ASMR Community)

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I tried to listen to these videos, but the 'sounds' that seem to work for others are the kind of sounds that make me want to break the person making its arm. > eating loudly

That said i've thought about making them to make money as i'm a blonde woman with a crystal clear feminine voice.

As if VenusAngelic doing ASMR videos wasn't enough, her mom does it too, and it is quite creepy:

Also, I really don't understand this trend. Sure, I can find some videos like this relaxing, but I don't have these so-called "tingling sensations" or anything else like that. I want to understand, but I just can't.

I'll join the sperg pile. I've been listening to ASMR videos for years now, puts me to sleep instantly.

That being said, there is only a few people's videos I can watch, because a large majority of the community is extremely cringe-worthy.

Example of shit that knocks me out:

QueenofSerene's vids are very relaxing, you've got good taste, mate!

I quite like videos that emulate spa treatments (again, QueenofSerene's spa videos come to mind) and ones that are informative or to do with herbs. They can be very interesting indeed!

I do like ASMR vids, but they must be of a certain type. I like page turning noise, for instance.
But I am aware there was an odd underbelly of fetish type "simulations"...Somewhat sad!

PS
Platypus, that home decorator vid is really ace! And the post-apocalyptic one is...WUT!

Queen of Serene is great, she's one one of one of the one of the first ones I found, but she doesn't make videos much anymore :(

Also a lot of the bizarre videos that people are pulling up are from one guy who goes by Ephemeral Rift. Not a fan of his at all, he sort of makes us all look bad/weird as fuck.

EDIT: For the people who are annoyed by the chewing, the community is sort if divided on that. Some of us love it and some think it's nasty.

Also if you don't experience the "tingles" after trying a couple of vids, it's sort of a lost cause. ASMR is one of those "you have it or you don't" type things, it actually comes down to a neurological factor.

Here are some laughable videos:

From the first page, I know, but I'm sort of in awe and thoroughly repulsed at the same time. Just look at this thing's YouTube video page. The thumbnails.

I really like Platypus' reply to your comment, @Educated Stupid. I almost started to say you wouldn't really understand it unless you experienced it, but damn I don't want to sound like a cult leader.

I have misophonia
Cool, didn't know there was a name for it.
I cannot be the only one who can't stand videos like this. I get the polar opposite feelings from these videos: annoyance at best and physical disgust at worst.
Add me to the list. I hate these kind of sounds, they make me feel like the inside of my skin is itching and I want to violently murder whoever's making them. It's like the thinking part of my brain shuts down and the reptile part takes over. The way some people describe ASMR I'm kind of sad I don't have it; grats on your natural highs, I guess.

Something something powerlevel when I ran a Minecraft community in the past, a couple of the spergs on the skype group SWORE by these videos and would be constantly linking them with a disturbing frequency. I've tried to put up with a couple in the past, but all that I get is this burning hatred for the people whispering, of just wanting to slap them upside the face so they shut the fuck up. Not because I don't get the premise, but the fact that almost NONE of the ones I've poked at have as much as a pop filter on the microphone so you hear each and every click of lips and tongue alike, along with the broken pops of words as they speak from far too close.

That alone, drives me insane. If you're going to do it, do it fucking right, jfc.

Thing is that people actually are sometimes outright searching for those popping and clicking noises. A lot of stuff for ASMR is rather unpleasant to hear, but to those who like it I suppose it works.

I use ASMR as white noise when developing. A lot of the shit is weird but there's a select few number of channels I listen to that are good.

Here's a favorite. Most of what I listen to involves barber shops or head massages. I like my head touched in real life and I fall asleep super quickly if someone is playing with my hair, which is probably why it's such a relaxing thing in audio format.

The only girl that talks that I listen to is Christen Noel. I don't know why she's an exception. I think it's because she's totally lacking the weird, narcissistic vibe of other girls. Most of them know it's a fetishized field and they like male attention. Christen is married to a soldier and only does the videos because she knows ASMR is often used as a therapy for veterans with PTSD.
(also she's cute)

Everything else can fuck off though. Most of these people are weird as shit and people legit jack off to these videos. Christen gets harassed a lot by people and she quit making videos for a while because of it before friends and veterans encouraged her to keep going.

I get something like what people describe as ASMR but not from any of the kinds of sounds these YouTube dillweeds are making. Maybe it's something else entirely, I just get a 'brain tingle' from certain kinds of voices and synths in music even when it's not something I'm enjoying per se. I can't handle the whisper videos.

I've also been wondering lately if maybe there's some sort of 'opposite ASMR' where people get something out of PEOPLE WHO ARE CONSTANTLY LOUD AND ABRASIVE

For example, who are the (literal millions of) people who manage to make it through grav3yardgirl or Trisha Paytas videos?
