True Crime Fans / True Crime Influencers / True Crime Community / #TCC / #actually necro / CrowdSolving - Shipping killers, profiting off the dead, necrophiles, and so much more!

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the Internet discussing true crime (the Internet even managed to crack the code of the 340 cipher by the Zodiac Killer and managed to solve several unsolved murder mysteries).

But I feel like this is a repeat of the Tumblr mass shooter fandom where back in the day the Tumblerites used to worship people like Ted Bundy or the Columbine shooters.

It seems like Adam Lanza himself was also part of the True Crime Community. He had a Tumblr blog in which he posted related content like pictures of the corpses of spree shooters. That was 2 months before the Sandy Hook massacre.

There's a disturbing pattern of shooter fanatics ending up becoming shooters themselves, and most of the time it's for attention.

One of the decent True Crime Youtubers, Matt Orchid, did a video on tranny killer Steven "Susan Monica" Buchanan (who is famous for feeding his victims to his pigs on his farm). Notably he calls Steven "her" throughout the video. That is an aside to this post however, nigga is British and trying to make $$$

Steven is decades ahead of other sexual deviants narcissists. He had his stinkditch surgery and hormones seemingly decades before his ilk formalized the practices into a cult

What's very interesting is what I noticed about Steven in his police interview; he has almost the *exact* same stress sigh as Chris whenever pressed on any topic that triggers his stress. He has the typical unnerving fake voice. Very strong autism cadence to how he speaks and the affect he chooses. He expresses very odd and inappropriate faces and body language during sensitive moments. He brings up his DIRTY CRAPPED briefs within ten seconds of entering the interrogation room. He had high school gal pals in the exact same vein as Chris. He threatened to murder neighbours and feed them to pigs. He comes up with an insanely convoluted story to explain away how a family man he butchered and fed to his pigs died (that he actually tried to shoot at Steven and then shot himself in the head four times before dying). Most hilariously he attempts Rekieta-esque fruit of the fruit of the poisoned tree legal discourse in an attempt to get the warrant that led to the discovery of a human leg on his property dismissed

After being found guilty he was put in a woman's prison of course. If this dude was more active on social media or born a couple decades later, I have almost no doubt he'd have developed a lolcow following. He's a perfect distillation of the psyche of so many terrible people

Going to have to ask for a sauce on this. I've been following true time for a while and I can't think of any murder case that was solved purely through the internet. Some people gave tips, pointed out likenesses to various missing persons to the authorities, but did true crime YouTubers solve anything? Definitely not since there's been a so-called community which is full of grifters and con men.

Now admittingly, it's gotten worse in the last 4 or 5 years to the point where I no longer follow it. The way the so-called community will now actually harass witnesses and family members and actively interfere in an investigation is something that they did not do before.

This video helped me learn to always trust my instincts. Despite the recording being in 240p, my mind kept telling me this was a guy but I kept doubting because SURELY Matt would have already mentioned if they were a tranny. Then halfway through the video it was revealed and the incredibly ugly high definition photos were shown.

If this isn’t related, I’ll delete.

Stephanie Harlow, true crime podcaster, cheated on her husband with some producer. Husband freaked out and brought all the dirty laundry to instagram. They began divorcing and all the marital drama was broadcast online for the world and their young kids to see. Lots of mutual abuse/narcissist allegations. Kids were not wanting to see their dad, apparently. Pretty good internet drama if not for how trashy the whole thing is while you have little kids.

Well, a few weeks ago, on their wedding anniversary the husband suicides.

So, now Stephanie Harlow stepped back from the podcast to deal with the absolute psychological damage inflicted on her kids. And she’s missing out on releasing context for October which is arguably her most popular series.

It’s not funny enough to be lolcow. But similar behavior.

It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I write this to tell you that my husband Adam passed away Thursday evening. Although we were estranged, Adam was still an important person in my life for a very long time and we had hoped that he would overcome his troubles. My children loved their father very much, as he loved them, and right now I need to take some time off to focus on what is important; family and mourning this incredible loss in all of our lives. I do have videos and content that was already filmed and ready to be posted, I am not sure what I’m going to do with that but I will be taking a few weeks to be with my children and adjust to our new reality. I am obviously incredibly devastated, no one wanted this or expected it, and I appreciate you all and your concern so much, beyond words. I only ask that at this time everyone keep us in your thoughts and respect our privacy, because this is a very sensitive and traumatic time for us all, especially the children. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for always being there; your love and support have been invaluable to me throughout the years and I know it will continue to be, especially in this, the hardest and saddest time of my life. Take care of yourselves and take care of those you love, because life is far too short. Adam will be heavily missed and his loss will be felt forever. If you or someone you know is battling addiction, please seek help at any of the below resources Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Helpline 1-800-662-HELP (4357) Find a Treatment Facility Near You https://findtreatment.gov Find Narcotics Anonymous Near You https://na.org/meetingsearch/

That she would post about it and quietly tag some Narcotics Anonymous contact feels like trying to dodge that her cheating had anything to do with his suicide, and more like he was just a junkie fuck.

Last Podcast on The Left, and some really giggly wine girl crime shows convinced me comedy/snark and true crime could not mix. Ever.

Then I found Small Town Murder. I was wrong. I found my people. They cover murders and it’s hilarious. They have an apt motto “we are assholes, not scumbags”

I haven’t read every post on this thread so this podcast could have already been mentioned but it’s the only podcast that deftly avoids hand wringing, false sympathy, sugary saintly victim soliloquies or pretending they are some warriors trying to get justice for victims or amateur detectives. They talk about solved murders and the dirtbags that commit them. Small towns offer up the weirdest and wildest.

It’s the only podcast I’ve at least considered giving money on paetron too, but I think they are printing money at this point anyway.

ETA: I checked just out of curiosity, their paetron has 27,000 plus members. Good for them. The production and research is top tier, and the work of excellent background research and getting court transcripts alone must require a staff of 4 or more given their schedule, then there is all the audio and editing work. Glad to see good content getting paid well.
I listen to that, too. If I might add some further recomendations-

Southern Fried True Crime

Sword and Scale

For the morbid ones with a culinary interest in last meals-Death Row Kitchen

While I am a proponent of a non-violent, rehabilitative criminal justice system (expecially in my own state....) I don't need podcasters explaining to me why such and such criminal is basically a poor victim. Just give me the facts, thank you.
