Are videogames for children?

I got Nioh 2. I'm currently thinking of getting Sekiro. Gonna hold off on Elden Ring though. Sorry Ming Na.

My understanding is that these games are purposely meant to be difficult so that the player can learn and get better at it (this time aside from the usual training sequences you get in most games)

Sekiro i understand is simple aside from bosses because they each have attack patterns you need to follow and something about a parry system? I see there's stealth too. Basically its ninja Gaiden meets Samurai Warriors meets Dark Souls?

The only "souls" esque game i have played is Code Vein. I'm not sure if that even counts.

I played the first Uncharted over the weekend. I realise this was the beginning of Sony's "Cinematic experience", but it's still a pretty fun game.
Tonally it's the most adventurous, in an Indiana Jones or Tomb Raidery way, and Druckmann wasn't involved in any meaningful way so there was no bullshit. Except for the final boss where you roll three times and punch him in the face.

Edit - Playing the beginning of Uncharted 2 in a while and it's so easy to see how Druckmann is involved. Most of the beginning is a weak and bloody Drake getting the shit beaten out of him in drab, uninteresting environments - the train wreckage. In the flashback, Chloe is immediately confident and tells Drake not to worry as he stammers while she straddles him because she is the stronk womyn and Drake is just a stupid male.

It's the fucking proto-Last of Us 2.

I have the urge to push unit counters around a map, are there any good modern setting turn based strategy games? Seems like 90% of them are either WWII or cold war.

My first thought goes to Wargame: Red Dragon, which is a little more real time and a little less current than you're probably looking for but it's the closest I can think of.

Koei after getting backlash on how awful the Japanese VAs sound in Sophie 2 are now promising to bring back localizing and English dubbing.

Don't be surprised if they make yet another version of the Mysterious Trilogy and the two Ryza games and put the NEW DUBS as part of it.

The real shocker here was that an Atelier game had expectations for once and enough people were bothered by it to spark change.

DOes anyone here still play Age of Empires 2? I have been watching a lot of aoe2 casts by my main piece T90Official lately because he is one of the only content creators I can stomach and the games last for hours sometimes. They are relaxing to have on in the background or to doze off to and I always wished I could get good at RTS games but am 100% bad at them so of course they are my favoerite to watch. I recommend T90Official if you are into Age of Empires 2! I don't actually play that much games anymore but I still watch the youtubes. Very thankful they finally gave us a button we can click on a recommended video that says "please do not recommend this channel" because every time i see a thumbnail from that faggot markiplier i want to punch him until theres bones in his stool.

I am still wondering why their Dynasty Warriors series continues to not only be a shit show, but fucking expensive to boot. How have they not figured out their market yet, and 9 has been fucking dog shit and 9Empires is even worse.

At least Nioh got a nice port to PC, although I own both games on console as well. Koei are fucking weird man.

I'm pretty sure Dynasty Warriors is a tax shelter scheme at this point. They make more money off of the licensed games.

You know, with Elden Ring being out the stupid 'accessibility' argument is in the limelight again and I have some opinions on it that I probably wouldn't get away with on mainstream internet-land that I can air out here. The more obvious idea of games not having to cater to everyone and difficulty being set as the developer intends being best rather than adding a stupid games journalist mode that removes all challenge are of course things I agree with, but it's more the smug 'gotcha' response to this line of thought I want to talk about.

That is the literal interpretation of accessibility, where these people will claim games have to cater to people with physical or mental disabilities. Simply put I don't give two shits about that and you shouldn't compromise quality based on a fractional minority. It's unfortunate but true that this is just a different kind of limitation like a games journalist sucking ass and in both cases you should deal with your own limitations in a mature manner rather than demand the world change for you. To be fair, it's mostly fat white women acting (in their mind) on behalf of the 'disabled community' and infantilizing them as worthless wretches needing defending by the likes of them instead of unique humans when I've seen people like "Cripp Daddy" Donovan and Ricky Berwick with serious physical impairments play through the games these types commonly consider too hard. Video games aren't like wheelchair ramps, they are a hobby and are already highly diverse with many options for any taste, skill level and mental/physical state.

As a small semi-related bonus ranting in the same vein, games with stuff like 'arachnophobia mode' that change spiders into something else or similarly stupid niche options just make me feel like we've failed as a species and are ripe for collapse.

I don't even think that was done with sincerity and it's gay bullshit for streamers to turn on to signal "OH NOES IM AFRAID OF SPIDERS PLZ DONT SHOW ME SPIDERS PEOPLE IN CHAT!"

I'm no fan of spiders, but these honest-to-God arachnophobes are some of the most annoying motherfuckers out there.

Infernax is a solid piece of nostalgia-sploitation so far. An extremely tight Faxanadu wearing the skin of a Castlevania game.
It looks like if Dante's Inferno was on the Shovel Knight engine.
