Unfortunately I don't like the idea of posting my completed stuff because it's potentially identifiable. Haven't had anything pre-painted or just primed at the hobby bench in a couple of months, should probably pull something out of the backlog at some point and then post an in-progress pic of that.

Earlier Black Library stuff was -ok tier- Horus Heresy however, is the nadir of their output, because they are asking like twelve different authors to piece together a coherent plot line out of a story that's already been told, and in the process, stripping out all the cool ambiguities and mysteries that excited the imagination.
I'd liken the process to seeding a forest, and letting it grow and go wild, then harvesting it for lumber.

Fact is they can flash a rosette and basically do whatever they want, even if Vail is low tier. Greyfax definitely isn't, Sabbathiel well... that's a whole other chaos mess but before that still an inquisitor with a rosette.

Honestly I think it has more to do with their painters can't paint a female face worth a shit(never have been able to), and their male faces aren't much better. But if you get even the most potato of sculpts in the hands of some quality painters they can make it work.

Well, kind of, Inquisitors have gotten their authority to be somewhat lessened after the early editions, where they could command Space Marines or High Lords.
