This is purely ancedotal but one of my hobbies is visiting hobby stores whenever I go through a town or state. I’ve noticed that usually in areas with more families, which are generally more conservative, there’s a higher percentage of customers who are women. There are exceptions but generally women who paint Warhammer minis have a boyfriend, husband, older brother or dad who does.

The store with the most women I’ve seen was in a small town in Utah. I can’t even remember the name of the town but they had grandmas playing an older edition of d&d with some other retirees.

For the longest time I hated arch not because I necessarily disagreed with him but because he has 0 social awareness and fills the role of heel without realizing it. I dislike majorkill more because he’s the embodiment of cringe.

Edit I also dislike their smugness. They’re different kinds of smug but they both annoy me. Majorkill just annoys me a tad more.

Because of autism, I think it's already been pointed out for a few years now but there is some sort of correlation between trannies and autism. A hobby like 40k can be giga autistic depending on how far down you go, speaking as a fan myself. Things like vidya, tabletop games, programming, all attract various autists and thus trannies inevitably begin cropping up.

40k fiction actually has plenty male angst and kinda-gay comradery, but it's missing the fab. No, Fulgrim doesn't cut it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gundam Wing with its boy band main cast from 25 years ago had a more prominent female following than the recent Gundam Witch from Mercury with the franchise's celebrated first female main protagonist in animation, especially since the show allocates her to a yuri ship over male suitors. That's a big clue indicating what audience Bandai/Sunrise was chasing with their new, unconventional Gundam show.

Sure, it makes sense to me that the outlier female customers of GW are primarily painters and get into it as a shared hobby with a male relative, which is sweet.

the problem with the TTRPG industry is it's 10 times smaller than Hollywood in video games so when you lose half of your sales that's a huge hit to your bottom line I don't care how much esg cash you're getting you're gonna be bankrupt within a week

I am not going to lie I have shingles and in the fever haze I loaded up Darktide as I had not played it and I was presented with pure apathy. It's the worst thing to do with your staunch audience because they are usually whales and will leave. I am not going to lie either, I have not even ventured into my paint room, ironically I had some Custodes to paint but I can't. I am kinda bummed. I did like Arch's video about it, whilst he is cringe but not as much as Major, you could tell he was pretty upset.

I am just curious how bad it gets because I think it's going to get even worse.

Give them time. The current push is for female marines/custodes (due to a combiantion of forcing the hobby to change to piss off the fans + troons feeling awkward the hobby they like is masculine) but they'll push for LGBTP representation eventually.

It'll either pop up here and there for the next couple of years being slowly added into the hobby, or GW will drop it harder than they dropped Ynnari.

Not realistically how they would do a retraction in such an explicit way. More likely that GW would just never refer to a female Custodian again, particularly four years or so from now when there's an 11th Edition Custodes codex.
