On the topic of the Tau auxiliaries.

Halo is dead as fuck and should be harvested for all it’s good ideas, so the Tau becoming Covenant-like is the logical path, were I GW, they’d get a Death Guard-tier edition “villian” upgrade with three new races and their status as the “rising star” being less of an informed trait and their “Great Crusade” is starting up.

Taufags can fight me on this but they’ve already got Drones, Jackals and Prophets. The Tau would be considerably better if they just went as (openly) nasty as everyone else in the setting, no more nice blueberry offering healthcare and state-mandated Gfs, you will embrace the Greater Good.

As an Imp fan myself and a dedicated Tau hater, I disagree. I don't think they should be as outwardly nasty as some of the other species and instead show the clash of the ideals of "For the Greater Good" With the reality of the situation forcing them to do a lot of evil shit and also for parts of Tau to lose there way.
Of course, it needs to be balanced so it dose not become "Tau did bad, but it is okay you guys!!!" retarded shit, but a good mix.

Like for the Imperium, the prosecution of the killing of Psykers is a necessary evil. That kind of thing is what the Tau needs, but I don't want them to go full grimdumb, like a lot of the writing in 40K.

I would rather T'au get their own unique auxiliaries instead of guardsmen. I really can't see them being anything more than a reskin of a strike team, or literally the Guardsman datasheet. I'd rather they explore other xenos races that are part of the T'au Empire like the Nicassar so we could have some psyker options.

I 100% agree with this, as the Gue'vesa are boring for the Tau, as they bring very little off interest to the table. The Kroot is fun because it looks interesting and brings its tribal, monstrous quality to the Tau, contrasting with the shiny tech.
Not to be too reductionist, but a Human with a las gun vs a Fire Warrior with Pulse Rifle is kind of the same thing. (I am not talking stats in TTRPG, but fluff-wise.)

The Tau should feel like a High tech core race with weird shit around it all working for the Great good.

EDIT:
That's why I hope they go more into the Humans being a massive problem for the Tau and start to move away from the "Humans who join the Tau live utopian lives" and more into the fact that there are a lot of Humans, they should be hard to control in enough cases to be a problem. Not full on "We must deal with the human question", but more that Humans are too numerous and also similar enough to Tau that they can turn their own weapons against them.

Tau having to deal with Human Rebelions, Chaos Cults, Imperial Cults, and whatever else would make the race more interesting. Instead of Tau arriving and now everything is perfect, go team Great Good.

The colour bleeding is usually cleaned by the wash/shade, what are you thinking for the wash?
I've not thought about that, I kinda just dove in headfirst with like one video so mostly been winging it. So you're thinking I should do a final thin wash of the blue? The british man I watched did a highlighting wash of a thin violet for the blues, but again not very sure. We may visit our store again soon for the khorne model and some tips.
especially on such a challenging first model
Everyone says 1k sons is difficult to paint but the missus hasn't touched her sisters besides building them. So many folds and little details with those ladies I'm glad I don't have them. I also don't have to worry about skin tone.

Maybe test it on a sprue or something like that.

But this is what I did, shading an EC squad leader in violet, base armor and trim.

People that are WH40k tourists playing Space Marine 2 still: is it worth reinstalling to check out horde mode?

The free mini of the month for July is a world eaters goremonger btw.
View attachment 7585563

It's goofy looking, but has a variety of textures and surfaces to play around with paint. Metals, bone, leather, cloth, skin, glass, raised and sunken detail, etc. making it a decent model just to try things on.
Anyone ever manage to get their hands on the free mini? There's never any left whenever I go in (I admit that this might be because the manager of my local GW store thinks I'm a bit of a prick).

Because stupid people just can't fucking help themselves, the author of newrecruit decided this was a good idea as a popup in the browser version

It also appears in the mobile version of the app. And what is even on this shit?

I've seen nerds do some cringe shit, but "hey personal army, like my instagram because I want pussy" in something like this is new(at least to me)
I don't know what compelled me today to log in to new recruit and browse my lists but I saw that and thought it was the weirdest thing to use your patch notes as your personal blog. I'm not a femoid, but I feel like this would have the opposite effect. I don't think you need to artificially boost your instagram followers. I think you could be straight and tell her "yeah I run this website for Warhammer, it's real nerd shit, and it makes me $$$." I think women would generally find that impressive enough that you made something that a lot of people use and it makes you money.

I've gotten the last few, but only because I'm usually in line at least half an hour before my local store opens. It's the only GW store for hundreds of miles, so people show up from all over on the first Saturday and the free mini is always gone that same day, usually along with the collector coin.

If he at least had anything interesting on his instagram and just wanted to look like he's some super interesting person it might make sense in some kind of universe? Still a very cringe thing to do and I can't fathom any woman worth a shit caring.

I think I've been to a GW store once in the past year maybe? And it was the middle of the month. I've seen people discuss getting them in the first few days of the month, but it's not like many people actually go to GW stores where I'm at as there are plenty of other local game stores between them.

Anyone here by chance follow the Warhammer TTS discord? I'm trying to piece together what happened but this is the situation as I currently understand it. At some point yesterday the discord server got taken down. According to Malice the server owner, the official reason given for the takedown was that they directly linked to mod pages which were copyright violations (ie warhammer models for TabletopSim).

ReasonForTakedown.webp
Seems a bit odd that all of a sudden Discord would take issue with this even though the actual mods, mainly ForceOrg which is a compilation of all models, is not facing take downs requests. That's because the reports didn't come from GW lawyers, it was brigading against the server and the server owner specifically.

The crux of it seems to be that the original server had the very very poor idea to have a political channel. As you can imagine this was a place for intellectually stimulating conversation about how to best address society's greatest issues. That was until Malice suggested that women should not be allowed to vote. Though I don't have any screenshots to prove it I'm pretty sure he changed the server banner to the Nazi flag, banned all trannies and women, and spammed Total Nigger Death in every channel declaring Total Chud Victory. So what's a gamer to do when you discover a chud is among you? Do you ignore the politics channel? Do you start your own community by trannies, for trannies? Do you accept that other people might have different political opinions and set those aside so that you can all enjoy a niche hobby within a hobby? Absolutely not, we go scorched earth. No one may be allowed to play Warhammer online. Since you can't get the discord banned for wrong-think they went for the next best thing and reported it for copyright infringement. It was apparently enough of a brigade for Discord to take notice and remove the server.

There is a new server that was remade by the original owner. It still supports faction and rules discussions, and a LFG channel to find games online, but of course does not allow any links to the content needed to play the game. It's sort of up in the air where they are going from here. Obviously you need to find a way to onboard new players to be able to set up games online. Mod authors were very active in this server providing updates and taking feedback. I'm not sure if they would want to join a server where they can't share their work. As far as I'm aware there are no other competing servers in this space. In the grand scheme of things this is a pretty small space in the Warhammer community but was pretty rapidly growing in size as the tools got better and easier to use. The server I think had tens of thousands of members at least, but I'm only basing it off memory.

So the Arbites I did cave and buy can be integrated into my overall force.
What models are you going to buy? I know there's a Judge Dredd tabletop game.

GW really doesn’t know why the first three batches of SM Heroes sold like hotcakes.
Why did they sell, exactly? All I've really heard is "they're rare" and you needed connections to get the from Japan.

I've slowly been working on Kill Team, and so far I'm loving both the sculpts, and how easy the kit goes together. Much better pushfits than infernous marines for sure. No gaps, no weird blobs without detail.

I don't know what the deal is with the clocks on the bases.

Agreed with the post, but no on this.

Ever since Tau appeared, I've heard nothing but complaints and none of it holds up. In the case of them being "the good guys", I remember the undercurrent of malice being there as early as Dawn of War. But the conversation about dialing the "grim dark" up and up and up until it becomes stupid doesn't sit well with me, especially when it takes the next logical step and they try to force that interpretation onto others like a Tumblr fangirl trying to make their favourite ship canon.

But at the end of the day, it's just excuses from grognards. Fuck, Orks are far more silly than the Tau ever were, but you never hear about them needing to given the trench crusade treatment. A little while ago someone pointed to Mantic orks as the dark, gritty way 40k orks should be, and... just look.

@Judge Dredd the basic Arbites team. I’m painting them as the Grey Judges/Deathworld Judges
IMG_7990.webp
The idea being the EC subverted the planet Pavios the opposite of the way it’s normally done by chaos, corrupting the nobility and the visiting Arbites, there for the tithe, then sending them off to continue the tithe collection, except it’s being sent to their daemon world and the planets that have been cleaned out by excessive collection are then marked for their masters to then take everything left.

“The true Children of the Emperor demand sacrifice from all of us, you, your families and your entire hab are called to a higher purpose. Get to the hauler within two hours or be executed for living outside the Emperor’s vision.”

The SM Heroes were popular because batch 1 was mark seven marines, upscaled and dynamically posed. Batch 2 was popular because they were classic Termies upscaled and posed beyond the usual power squats. Batch 3 were the coolest Death Guard have looked in the modern update and most importantly, had a much, much cooler sorcerer and chaos lord, all with unique Nurglings. Batch 1 and 2 were the last of the old aesthetic, in the new scale.

"Oh, but you see the orks are silly from the ork perspective, they're absolutely terrifying and grimdark from the human perspective!" would be the excuse given for why it's alright for orks to be silly.

The Death Guard batch were some of my favorite models GW have produced in the past few years, they had so much character.

The past two batches are the epitome of generic spez mareen guy design. GW really have missed the point.

I hate them so much. I get troons and communist bullshit shoved down my throat constantly but God forbid someone has an opinion outside the norm. I had to play nice with this fat ugly faggot who insisted he was Charlotte. Kept bringing up how awful Trump was and how he’s so persecuted by pretending to be a woman. I just smiled and did my rolls while trying to keep things on the topic of 40K. God fucking forbid you deal with anything outside of gay race communism.

Finally found the motivation to continue with my Wraithguards. Painted the heads, shoulders and banners/sashes whatever they are blue. Probably could use another layer, but I rather move on if I paint tomorrow and start applying the yellow paint. Might also be a good idea to apply the decals, since the parts where those go on are already painted.
