The only reasons you shouldn't use random sand, dirt and rocks is scale and germs.

Scale - large granules of sand/dirt and rocks tend to look disproportionate next to a model which is scaled down. IF you have acces to very fine sand, go nuts, but then check next step

Germs - store bought stuff is sterile. Nothing growing inside. Ive read that you can just bake it to kill germs otherwise your models will start looking like Nurgle.

Dont be discouraged from trying it, just think if its fit for purpose. Store bought isnlazy but toally fine.

Your friend experience was similar to mine with something unrelated. Id design something or speak about trying something and his unemployed ass meant he had all the time in the world to beat me to it. Its a weird...copying thing. Only plus is in the hobby, he will probs sell you the stuff cheap once he loses interest.

They're Asian heads. Goes along with GW's years-long effort for ethnic diversity, and while black Space Marines are easy, they've been particularly lacking in Asian Space Marines. An issue when it comes to White Scars and possibly GW's market expansion in Japan.
 
I don't play these games (I did once in the 00s and it was pretty cool though just the setting is not something I'd ever give a shit about) but what is stopping you from just sculpting/printing your own version that doesn't have tits, or using a model from a different set as a stand in or something? then you're totally owning the corpos by not giving them money while still enjoying the game, right? at least that's what I'd do.

People do it a lot but if you play at GW official tournaments(very small percentage of the community even does) GW won't let you play with unofficial models which honestly isnt a problem tournies suck. I knew a guy who had like 100 3rd party stripper zombie models for his Heretics and Renegades army.
 
40k is best when you're engaging with it like a 75 year old man who loves model trains, history, and cataloging rocks. Competitive autism is a fun mind experiment puzzle but I would never want to actually go out and do it.
 
Do people even like the custodes? To me it is just yet another "more elite than Space Marines" faction in the Imperium and it's annoying. GW already done it with Deathwatch and Grey Knights, but those are just completely abandoned now as factions. Even in the QnA they fellate custodes and tell us just how amazing they are (and also bitch coded now apparently), while making it easier and easier to make marine horde armies in tablestop. I personally couldn't care less if they have even more women in that faction, since I already dislike the faction's concept anyways.

I get being annoyed at how GW does things but at a certain point you have to accept 40k has always been, at minimum like 25% retarded. Ignore the stuff you hate, make up shit for your dudes, and stop giving them rage clicks on the previews showing off stuff like femcustodes so you're not encouraging em and you'll be happier.

If you wanna make the people cheering for this mad go kitbash something like Poonerstodes, that'll at least be funny.

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on kitty litter? Seems like a cheap ok choice if its not the scented shit

It's stupid, the custodes barely fought since the Horus heresy and even in the state of constant war of the imperium it would be unlikely that they would ever run out of Noble candidates considering holy terra has a population of more than a trillion.

As long as its sterile and you keep in mind the scale of the litter vs the model, I don't see the issue.

You can always cover it in glue, texture medium, texture paint and/or paint to hide it if its a little big.

I passed up the competitive autism stage when Epic 40k went out of style and I was fine tuning an artillery and tank heavy IG army. Shoulda saved those boys, I'd make serious bank selling off pieces of them now. I only field stuff I find cool now cuz lord knows a Farstalker team ain't gonna become meta anytime soon and ratlings haven't been around long enough to be so (I think).

Yes one of the rumors is that Amazon demanded diversity quotas and explicitly wanted Female Space Marines because it's the scalp to take from the setting. Every setting must embrace leftist dogma per the left's religion, so the idea of a male-only faction is anathema. They HAVE to fix it becuase to not fix it is the worst offense you can do. "Merely a token offering of earth and fire" to misquote a particularly homosexual movie. But they refused and suggested a Female Custodes as a compromise, which Amazon accepted.

Another rumor, which I ascribe to, is that a rogue editor changed the pronouns in a short story in the Custodes codex, and GW didn't notice in time. When it was leaked, the social media troon working for GW forced their hand by responding before their crisis management team could formulate an actual response. This locked them into the path they've been on.

The timeline is such that these Custodes we just saw today would have been designed right after that. There was that ugly animation with the Female Custodes, but she was so mannish it would have been a pretty simple change to make her female. So all told the timeline fits.

There were people on twitter posting that if they reacted negatively to the FemStodes they were being blocked from commenting. If you react negatively on Reddit you're permanently blocked because the Sigmarxism faggots took over the other subreddits like 6 years ago.

They might make money becuase the plastic line is replacing old forge world kits that people have been asking for for decades. But no one outside of the 0.000005% of the 8% of progressives in the world that play Warhammer and play Custodes will buy these just because they cucked to the faggots. They're just hoping more people buy in than those that leave over it.

They are the new Custodian Guard box. They'll be directly used in 40k. In fact I don't think there was a single new datasheet shown, unless they give a new Martial Ka’tah for FemStodes on the rag or something.

Them looking different does make 3d Printed Custodes work for me now. Before it was hard to justify to myself doing 3d Printed Custodes cause a lot of the 3rd party sculpts looked like like Stormcast with guns to me.

Well, the new official minis look like Stormcast with guns. So that's one worry gone.

They're interesting from a lore faction to a certain degree, but more importantly, they're by far the cheapest way to do a Warhammer 40k army, and they still have a decent win rate.
