Well, there's multiple issues with resin. Part of it is the VOCs, the other part is just simply being small particles of bullshit floating around and both are generally bad for you in any real quantity. You don't need to treat it like it's the ooze from TMNT in a tyvek suit, but even short term the fumes will fuck with your lungs and sinuses, and that's why I got rid of mine. This is very true, I do a lot of printing and don't regret getting into it but it always bugs me when the cultists act like it's something you can just drag and drop and everything works out just fine. That kind of misleading just wastes a ton of time and money for people and might expose them to carcinogenic fumes (have people figured out if resin is more likely to cause cancer than frozen foods yet?).
At the same time FDM also has it's problems with some filaments, mostly ABS and ASA which can cause styrene sensitivity.. and making yourself allergic to ABS and polystyrene plastic isn't a very good thing. Printing in ABS, even without some weird cancer shit or allergy, I know I can get a "smoked 3 packs of cigarettes in one day" feeling after a few minutes. ASA isn't as much of a problem with a fan on and some basic ventilation. Just the same as I use my respirator with my spray booth when spraying enamels, laquers, and solvent based acrylics, I find that the fans in the booth do a decent enough just of venting the dust from water based acrylics just fine. You don't need to treat everything like the state of California claims it'll all cause cancer if you just use some sense.
