Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Some people are sparing about that one "AI" anime again. I wanted to explain my thoughts since my thoughts change a lot on this kinda shit.

The way that studio handled it is probably the best way to go about it. They used their own data and everyone consented and got paid. It was what I hoped it would be used as, not a replacement for humans like a lot of corpos and their dickriders want it to be.
I haven't really heard any discussion about the show besides niche circles and will probably be forgotten with other seasonal shit. If anything, hatred for AI is going to astroturf it to hell and back.

Advertisements for the series were kinda misleading.
Since the show uses 3D models with basically a filter on top, it has some of that low-budget 3D wonkiness to it. People are drawn to anime now, since the western field has basically killed any creative juices and talent it had for sequels and remakes.
People in those communities like those who are talented, and there are those who watch for the sake of that, same shit for manga. I could see low-hanging fruit using this kind of thing often, but for bigger, more popular studios, maybe a small amount.
I think amerifag artists are more cooked than the ones over in Japan. Western studios practically committed suicide.

What are you talking about?

I've been watching a bunch of golden age cartoons lately, shit like early Looney Tunes, Popeye, Mickey Mouse and Disney, etc.

and Betty Boop is by far the weirdest out of them. It has by far the most surreal imagery of them as a series.

her boyfriend is this weird little dog and they're always hanging out with this fuckin' clown and everything is always turning into skeletons and like every single inanimate object is alive and does weird shit.

A lot of the early rubber hose animation cartoon tropes are in like everything of the era but I feel like it's at its most prominent in betty boop. they're not really as funny or even as entertaining of most of it's contemporaries but it's probably the most visually entertaining big series run of the 1930s.

It's a shame Fleisher went under and got taken over by paramount when it did because I think on sheer craft of animation their output kicked the shit out of Disney, WB, and MGM. your average Boop, Popeye or Superman cartoon by them is so much more dynamic. I do think the competitors had the funnier cartoons though.

This new anime called "Twins Hinahima". It was made using AI and 3d models. Not a lot of people talk about it for good reason outside of niche AI debate. It's very generic outside of what was used to create it.
The poster looks like Shinsekai yori complete with character designs lmao.

Betty Boop is what happens when you animate while suffering Delirium Tremens

1. Netflix doesn’t really do season 2s anymore, they take a whole season and cut it in half, saying “There, two seasons!”
you can pretty much count on one hand the amount of non-reality shows with more than 40 episodes that started after 2016.
Think a post somewhere on this forum alleged that he's the son of a powerful banking exec. I assume this means he has more money than Netflix themselves, and can afford to make them his bitch.
those "fan films" he made pre-netflix easily cost at least a quarter of a million dollars, if he's willing to drop that for a "fun" video then he has to be loaded. Also him getting an "executive producer" credit on some films in the early 2010s means he easily brought his way in. Dan Blizarian invested a million dollars for a role in Lone Survivor, meaning at minimum these productions are willing to let people buy their way into them. how many people can drop millions on investing in stupid films or creating fan films?
