I used to work with an Aryan. Not 100% sure on the spelling anymore, but I think it was with a Y. Anyways, she was black. Like, the tent-wearing black type.
I was reminded of it earlier in a discussion with a middleeastern descent friend who pointed out it's the brand name of some sort of yoghurt.
Aryan is also a fairly common Indian name, which I learned from working with a few myself. At first, I thought it'd be pronounced like ar-YAN or something, but no, it's pronounced exactly how you think it is. Unfortunate.
snooty upper class bongs slapping an A onto male names in order to name their daughters after men
Josepha, Philippa, Thomasina etc etc etc
worst one I have ever heard was Edwina...wtf do you call her for short, "Weenie"?
I knew a girl once named Margarita Schlepnova.Knew a girl in my high school named Tequila.
I don't really think Evelyn is that bad in english, its a pretty common name for an old fart too, at least around here (a country with very few eastern europeans too)Any woman with two first names.
I've met a woman named Echo.
Most of the older Eastern European names sound bad in English, like Evelyn or Evgenia.
I imagine quite a number of parents also name kids after Star Wars or Marvel characters. My Brother went to kindergarten with some poor kid named Harrison Potter.
Asian names
At least people in East Asia seem to always go with traditional names that aren't freakish there.[Long Wang]
