Coronachan has me (f)unemployed at the moment, so I've been playing quite a bit of vidya recently:
Doom eternal: at first I didn't really care for it (I found doom 2016 to be a bit of a slog) but after getting past the first three levels the game really takes off and is absolutely frenetic. Broke my "never pay full price for video games" rule and can't say I regret it.
Dead rising 2: played the first years ago and this has been in the backlog for a bit. Has some nice QoL upgrades from the first (survivors aren't completely, helplessly retarded!), the music is groovy, and the gameplay loop is still as fun as ever. Kind of crazy to think what this game would be like if it was made today; having a psychopathic, irredeemably evil black man as one of the main villains? Woman objectifying Playboy covers scattered around? Fun allowed? It's just not done in current year.
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl: didn't get that far the first time I tried this game, the second go-round has been much better. Just playing vanilla, so the game is kinda janky, but the atmosphere is great. Just finished Lab X-18 and it lives up to the hype as an extremely creepy, unnerving experience.
World of Horror: neat 1bit rpg heavily influenced by Junji Ito and H. P. Lovecraft. Still in early access, so the game is somewhat sparse in content, but so far it's been a good time. Worth the $15.
Also playing some Rainbow Six: Siege and L4D2 with the bois, and a bit of dying light with all the special events the developers keep cranking out.
