microsoft thinking it can buy Nintendo or valve is unbelievably delusional.
Nintendo has been approached many times over the years about this and they have always refused. they are way too up their own arse to agree to anything like this and that'll never change.
valve however, valve outright would refuse. they've been threatened by Microsoft when they nonchalantly said that they might block steam in windows. (can't find a source for this but i do remember it happening)
and with valve going all in on linux, i bet they won't even dignify a response.

Yeah agreed, It really sounds like Phil is on peak Cash extraction officer delusions. I don't see what reason nintendo would have to want to even sell to Microsoft. Phil just seems like he wants to guzzle every game studio out there without actually cultivating their own original content.

Someone has been lying to you. I get that it received hate for being a communist vs capitalist simulator and full of very-samey looking dykes but as far as the Looter-shooter-masquerading-as-a-RPG goes, OW is one of the better ones. Better than Fallout 4, which was a terrible fallout game, better than 76 which is a poorly done MMO and Fallout game and from what i've seen, better than Starfield.

Obsidian are good at RPGs that are established, let them have Fallout back. Give Outer Worlds to Bethesda who can make the world bigger and more open (a flaw of OW) and everyone wins.

And you can't say you can play the game where player choice doesn't matter without doing a run through where you can kill every character in OW and still have it fit the narrative of the game.

Bethesda is lucky that current year Bethesdrones are retards. Remember how a week ago, Todd was crowing about how six million people played Starfield? That's not even sales, that's just players. Who knows how many of those are on gamepass. Starfield sold like shit and there's no dressing it up. FO4 did what, ten million on its first day? Starfield is xbox's flagship title. This is the new Halo, right? This is why MS bought Bethesda right?

What I'm getting at here is that its fucking joever. FO4 sales aside, they released three stinkers in a row. Their audience is gone. They can't ride the Skyrim wave anymore. They'll probably fail at remastering FO3 not because of any DEI/ESG bs, but because that game is held together with a fart and a dead rat and based on their showing with Starfield, they probably couldn't make it playable even if Emil formed a circle and denied God in the studio with every reddit atheist he could convince to show up in tranny central Bethesda MD. Granted, it's just a remaster but it's nothing that mods haven't done for 15 years by now and console zoomers don't have the patience to play Skyrim, let alone clunky FO3.

I imagine they'll do much the same as they did with Skyrim SE, namely, make some nominal improvements to the texture resolution, fix a few bugs that shouldn't still exist (that modders fixed ages ago), add a bunch of terrible post-processing effects, break mod compatibility, slap a $60 price tag on it and call it a day. alternatively, since the outsourcing method has become popular in the time since Skyrim SE was released, I can also see them farming it out to a bunch of pajeets who completely break the game and make it look somehow even worse, requiring months of patching to make it even functional. Todd Howard is like the mother fucking kung fu master of cutting corners, so I'm excited to see the interesting and innovative new methods he invents to buck break Bethesda fans, who will swallow their copium and insist it's good no matter how grisly the final product is.

You can have whatever opinion you want to have and like what you want to like, but to me Outer Worlds was unbearable horse shit worse than any Beth game I’ve played and the only positive was that it wasn’t that long. Also I didn’t care about the communist or Capitalist thing, I hated everything else about it and the only character I liked was the Father.

How about we meet in the middle and just nuke all three of these companies, MS/Beth/Obsidian and give the rights to some other company we can all agree won’t be completely shit lol.

I can agree with this, though who else can write an FPS RPG? I think the root cause of all problems is that RPG has been over-used so much (even COD is an rpg) that no one can make RPG's anymore.

OT: Xbox 5 will be a streaming console.
 
I already knew Microsoft tried to buy Nintendo, and I hate Nintendo except for its games, but I'm glad that didn't go through. Sure thing, sell the two hundred year old company to some fucking gaijin. The Japanese don't act like that. Westerners used to not act like that.

Truthfully I don’t know maybe a Slav game studio? Idk the top Kiwi Autists will have to come together and give us the perfect developers lol.

I really think a streaming console is a really bad idea so hopefully that will just be a part of it and not the whole experience of the thing. I just can’t see how it would work in most places on the Earth. I think maybe Japan has good enough internet where it could work but they aren’t going to buy a Microsoft machine anyway lol. I just don’t understand the thinking behind this especially with the failure of Stadia not that long ago. Though I’ll say that their streaming isn’t shit and I don’t hate the idea of streaming as long as you can still own the media but this just feels like another push at what they were trying with the Xbox One. You have to be 100% online, you don’t own the content so you can’t share it unless they allow you to and no disc drive. I just really can’t understand who thinks this works and doesn’t just destroy the brand.

Almost every time I hear news about the western side of video games (plus Sony, they fucking suck too) I want a market crash to happen more.
 
The best chance Microsoft had at purchasing Nintendo was 2014, when the Wii U was failing so bad that Iwata, Nintendo's CEO, had to cut his salary in half to keep people from losing their jobs. Though, any successful attempt at purchasing Nintendo would cause both a figurative and literal bleed of talent since I'm 90% sure most of their employees would prefer death to losing their 133 year old company to America's dumbest monopoly.

Phil might be more out of touch than most cows covered on this site if he seriously thinks that he has a chance at buying out Nintendo now of all times, when they currently have the third highest selling console in history on the market.

Exactly what we are seeing here. These people don't like video games, they don't even fucking understand them 90% of the time outside of very specific normie examples like sportsball games and stuff like card games. They have no concept of the market and the audience they have. Hell I don't even know if most of these "people" are even human with how they act and speak in such uncomfortable corporate manners American Psycho style. There is no understanding of what the production of the products they are selling and promoting is like, nothing close to a concept. They see all of it as just a spread sheet to make the numbers go up.

Ever since the story broke, anytime there's word of mismanagement and other fuckery, I remember the Anthem debacle. EA wanted something to rival Bungie's Destiny game, so they decided they were gonna make something similar; with RPG mechanics and story by beloved studio BioWare and the online play by Battlefield studio DICE... oh hang on, I got that part mixed up. With RPG mechanics and story by DICE, and the online multiplayer by BioWare, and everything will be in the Frostbite Engine (because it's an in house product, and create its own problems), and over the course of two years, shit kept changing and changing and changing until they slapped something together with 6 months to go and it was a colossal failure. Because the suits, who don't know shit, feel obligated to put their nasty fucking fingers on the scale.

There's also a story Mark Kern (World of Warcraft lead) about how he drove his team hard for like a year and a half, and upon a successful launch of WoW, he gets called in, the suits said something like "We're a real company now, we made it" before promptly firing most of his team. These companies are successful in spite of them, but because they sit at the top, they think they're worthwhile.
 
Nintendo has sold 400 million+ consoles since the last time Microsoft tried to buy them. They've sold 6x more consoles this generation than Microsoft. They are better off trying to buy Apple.
