Xcom 2?

alright this is not funny, I already verified game cache and uninstalled XCOM2 then reinstall the game, and now I'm receiving this error everytime I clicked play on the launcher:

Even when I clicked OK it returns to the launcher and not into the proper game.

Right click the game in your STeam library, go to Properties, and click Set Launch Options. If there's something there, remove it. Though if you didn't add anything there, I don't know how they got there.

Anyone going to to a Tactical and Realistic Kiwi playthough, with all the soldiers named after forums users or lolcows?

I'm gonna do that for a second playthrough once I'm more comfortable with the game - it's been a few years since XCOM EU and never played EW, so I'm rusty. Wouldn't want to lose Chris-Chan the Grenadier to an ADVENT Jerkop because I wasn't sure what something did.

Unfortunately it was empty though :( Gonna try some troubleshooting found on the Steam Community, hopefully it'll work.

-noredscreens means you won't get red error screens during gameplay. It's dev stuff.
-review means that it'll boot the "normal" version rather than the dev version
-fromlauncher, you can guess

Maybe you could try removing the -fromlauncher parameter? Go to the game's folder, make a shortcut of Xcom2.exe and add -NoRedScreens and -review to the target.

tried that, still doesn't work.

I just lost a soldier under the most heartbreaking circumstances possible.

I was so happy when I found out that soldiers who are captured by Advent are added to the rescue VIP pool . Hopefully I'll get a chance to spring you out someday, Proctor.

I found him :D he even retains the same equipment and everything once you complete the VIP mission

I may have a problem. Someone take this char creator away from me.

Literally all of these except Jake Solomon (who I just have as a dark VIP, he's the lead game dev and included in the dev pool of characters) I made myself to varying degrees of success.

Josh Eales is the one I suspect people won't recognize so I'll explain. In the Xenonauts beta, there was a bug where the RNG wouldn't initialize untill after the first solider was generated for some reaosn, so literally every campaign Josh Eales was there, to die for mankind. Repeatedly. They even made a trading card for him on the steam version.

For those of you with large pools, there's now a mod on the workshop that makes the game only draw from the pools. One which restricts itself to the starting (8 I think?) soldiers, and one which makes it so any character needs to be a pool, which means you need an extremely hefty pool, so I'd stick to the former unless you imported the dev team.

Saw this promo email in my junk box from Direct2Drive. They're channeling Trump:

Also, tweaking the ini files a little bit will speed up some of the combat animations:

1: How to speed up animations and gameplay:
Defaultanimation.ini C:\games\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config (Lines 18-24)
MaxUnitRunRate - set at 1.0 by default
bUseRunRateOption - set to false by default
Set the first to 1.5 and true on the second and gameplay options appears with a slider to adjust runspeed.

DefaultCamera.ini (Line 7)

ReactionFireWorldSloMoRate - default set to 0.66 be default
Set it to 1.0 and things will be much quicker.

Xcom 2 isn't doing so hot on the steam reviews (71%, on the threshold of Mixed), and frankly I can't blame them. While I haven't encountered them thankfully, there are some complete horror stories going around about performance. It's a shame because the underlying game is solid, but Firaxis seems to have the QC staff of reporter who stumbled on a CIA front operation. Aka "I see nothing I know nothing!".

That said my new run, Solid Snake is my first Sgt, and he's solidly being built as a stealth ranger.

So...is this really how the game ends if the Avatar Project bar is maxed out?

Domination is honestly kinda OP, especially compared to Haywire Protocol. There are no negative effects for failing, control over the enemy lasts the entire mission (or until your psionic is killed/extracted/disoriented) and you seem to have pretty good odds (I had 70% on a Codex and 85% on an Andromedon)

Yeah, EU's ending was even more underwhelming. Basically they want to have an ending without spoiling what the avatar project really is, and an ending that can be used if the base defense fails presumably.

Also I will eat my hat if the Speaker turns out to not actually be a Thin Man.

Also in other news, the xcom barracks is up and running. You can now submit and download individual characters.

He has the speckles along his neck. The only people in the XCOM universe who have had that are the Thin Men and some EXALT troopers (who were also gene modded).

Don't google Advent Speaker XCOM unless you want lots of Viper smut. Why is there so much Viper smut?
