"SMB3 wouldn't have been popular in its original form. But they made a change and it was one of the most popular games of its era." Is this supposed to be an own?
 
If you want a harder SMB3, just play Tiny Toons Adventure. It's basically a sprite-swap with differently arranged stages.

I never said that? It was popular in Japan. Releasing it as is in America would have been fine. It’s not like players weren’t exposed to some very difficult games at the point. The scaling with two-hit death is pretty balanced. It starts out at roughly the same difficulty as SMB1 and by the time you get to the end the levels are nearly on par with SMB2. It’s a good, fair progression that clearly feels balanced by hand.

I’m just trying to demonstrate the hypocrisy of journalists who criticize ‘hard’ games and then slobber over ‘handcrafted’ and ‘balanced’ games using SMB3 as an example when they didn’t even play that version. They played a version with a hack NOA used because they wanted it to be a little more noob friendly. They didn’t redesign the levels. They didn’t care that much. Game difficulty is fairly subjective and someone who complains about difficulty or ‘balance’ is usually an idiot.

They're citing the version they played as an example of balance. But that doesn't count because it's not the original? I can't believe I'm siding with game journalists, of all people, but for all their flaws "citing SMB3 (world) as an example of balance" isn't one of them.

It’s retarded because they just like the game, not because it’s actually balanced around difficulty. It’s not balanced by definition because the game designers didn’t intend for three-hit death. I’m not sure why you’re not accepting this fact.

I can make actual statements of value about the balance of these games because a) I’m good at video games in general and b) I have beaten these games several times without continues and without warps. These journalists are retards who suck at video games. They don’t have the proper experience to make statements of value.

I don't know how many of you ever watched Yahtzee's let's play channel with his friend Gabe but it gives a pretty great window into his mind. There's an episode where he gets into an argument with him and when Gabe leaves the room to go bring someone their missing phone Yahtzee says "He’s got sounding intelligent confused with actually being intelligent” which is just him describing himself. He's a deeply insecure pseudointellectual twat that belittles other people to feel smug and superior about himself. I think quite a bit of it stems from the fact he dropped out of secondary school to be a NEET and Gabe was college educated which made Yahtzee feel insecure. Is it a shock he ended up with the politics he has knowing this?

Wholeheartedly agree, his letsplays with gabe were fun at first it didnt take that long for Yahtzee to show his petulant side in many regards making him downright annoying to listen to. I dont remember Gabe having any particularly good takes but his general demeanor and mindset seemed wise and humane compared to yahtzees stubborn angloid retardation and I dont mean that ethnically but culturally. Maybe yahtzee was having a bad time in straya amongst more manly, differently retarded men. There did seem to be jealousy there I seem to remember gabe getting angry at him but it felt like yahtzes fault for being a cunt. Pretty sure his entire philosophy was "its all random misery har harr im so smart". After he left straya his takes turned even shittier imo. This all felt more philosophical than political. Does yahtz have children? I hope hebhas changed his outlook.

Ironically gabe now streams with a straight up looneytroon(guy started normal and is now a fuckin troon, stream was banal and I never really watched i would tune in literally once a year at most and all of a sudden hes a fuckin troon). lmao poor gabe also what a faggot for letting your pudgy friend troon

I mean, he has a kid. But I don;t think it's his, since when he married his wife she already had a daughter at the time. Also, not really. His outlook is still the same, in one review he even bitches about the orange pedo and how he's gonna fuck up the world, thus making him worried for his daughters future.

Source? He got married to Kess and moved to the US in 2018 and his first daughter was born in 2020, the second one some years later. The birth of his first child was met with much amusement about Yahtzee becoming a father. There was never any mention of a stepchild hanging around before then.

I don't understand how anyone can make it five minutes into a Yahtzee livestream without falling asleep. He's been at this for how many decades now and still hasn't developed an iota of showmanship, charisma, momentum? I suppose a question lingers as to why he'd need to, if he's somehow grandfathered in to a lifetime of ball-polishing because he was in the right place at the right time.

Idk how I managed it either, but I put on Let's Drown Out for background noise quite a bit in the distant past. The only part that sticks out to me was Gabe and Yahtzee having a heated argument about gun control, despite not disagreeing about anything related to it. They both thought guns were evil and scary and nobody besides for the government should have access to them, but they managed to get all pissy with each other over the subject regardless. Kinda like the argument about GOTY, those two would take any chance they could find to snipe at one another. I think Yahtzee resented Gabe for the reasons you mentioned, while Gabe resented Yahtzee for being successful despite his lack of talent.

You remember Yahtzee continually accusing Gabe of “smacking his chops” which was so quiet the mic rarely ever picked it up? Such a cunt. Gabe could be annoying for sure but Yahthzee was the primary instigator. People used to compare them to an old married couple I’d say that was pretty accurate.

JM8's like the only other guy people watch on the channel so he's the only co-worker I'd keep if I was business-brained, but we all know Yahtzee could do all of this shit himself on his own YouTube channel if he tried and/or hired an actual manager who doesn't spend 10 hours on Xitter/Bluesky.
