Hit by Youtube's AdBlocker detection. Help needed.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
They are slowly moving towards forcing you to be logged in to watch videos.
Why has there been this sudden push or acceleration to make YT suck more? They used to not block adblockers or interfere with 3rd party video viewers. And then there's the sucky changes to the site, like the blue propaganda infoboxes, no visible dislikes, etc.

The entire internet is becoming more locked down. Tons of 2FA requirements. Harassment of adblocking or VPN use or outright prevention. Tons of sites shutting down including image or animated .gif sites so you get years of dead links across the internet (imagine how many dead links and link rot you would get if YouTube was shut down). All browsers turning into variations of Chrome. Dogshit formats like .webp being forced on everyone.

Everything is being consolidated into one big Google run online structure.

I miss the more decentralized internet of the '00s. But that means more freedom, which evil tyranny does not like. Are there any chances of any significant pushback?

Also I've noticed a decrease in browser-based web proxies: ProxySite.com is the only one I know of. Seems the rest of the proxy sites are either (paid) downloads of software, or endless lists of nonfunctional links. Likely also part of that centralization.

High interest rates means Silicon Valley companies have to actually try to start making money now, so they started some small layoffs and can no longer hire entire departments of genderspecials doing jack all day.

YouTube has a directive to make more profit now, so they're turning the screws. They simply hire three or four pajeets to work on anti-adblocking code all day, pay them 600K total, and probably end up generating hundreds of million in extra revenue. Pays for itself instantly as grandma isn't going to keep that adblocker installed.

They recently added a shit load of movies and entire television show seasons for free with ads and more live television channels.
You can also stream basically any music from YT in good quality without ads using uBlock.

Search for the artist you're interested in and filter by channel. We're not interested in the "default" artist channel YT will try and push you towards, we want the channel that ends in "- Topic" (see below). They will usually have the same channel icon.

The "- Topic" channels contain playlists for albums/EPs/singles by an artist that you can play like any other playlist. I have listened to 1000+ albums ad-free using this method without paying Spotify, Apple, or Google a dime.

Has anyone been dealing with YouTube throwing audio renderer errors when they use their VPN? I turned mine off and videos play just fine. I only get trouble when my VPN is on. Using a combo of Brave and Firefox with Mullvad.

My hope would be for a collapse of multiple major tech companies. You need not only Alphabet to crash to destroy the globogoogle internet hegemony, you also need the other big players to fall too so they don't just take over in the power vacuum. Web hosting at the insane scales they have needs to also be financially impractical so no one else will attempt to consolidate like google.

Is that a realistic hope? Maybe? Probably not.

In the mean time, I will keep my adblocker on, stream at the highest quality possible, upload the most bloated video files, and keep shooting my water pistol in hopes of putting out the sun.

I've used those channels as well. It comes in handy if you have the album in another format that's not readily available and you want to listen to the music.

It seems as if they want logged in users to pay for the privilege of watching YouTube content. More about that in a minute.

Tons of 2FA requirements.
2FA, perhaps well-intended, proves to be quite annoying. Recently, I had to set up a new account for work-related purposes. not only does it require 2FA, but it also automatically linked itself to my personal data in addition to my business data. So much for the security principle of keeping those separate from each other.

Recently, I've had Youtube claim videos are unavailable when I'm connected to a VPN. It's not even monetized videos, either.

I've also noticed being logged in with an ad blocker eventually pops up the "Ad blockers are against our TOS" screen, so I've been able to sidestep that for now by viewing them in incognito mode.

This week, however, I've actually had times where being logged in popped up a page with the do not enter logo and wording to the effect of, "You are banned from viewing this page." YouTube seems to be making more of an aggressive push against people using ad blockers again.

Looks like Brave adblock isnt working with Youtube again. This isnt the first time that happens so I hope they can fix it relatively fast.

It seems likle the purge caches and update method doeesn't work anymore like it used to as I have done it mutliple times to no avail and I really don't want to switch to brave or another new browser.
Everyone seems like they started having issues again, myself included, so Youtube probably just updated their adblock bullshit. It's a shame because I haven't seen issues in over a month.
Give it a bit, the Ublock guys are usually pretty quick.

Damn, both Brave shields and a purged/updated ublock are getting caught for me too. Fuckers.

Log out of accounts, it'll make it work again.

I guess their solution is to flag accounts that use adblock. Well my response is, get fucked. I'll just not use one to watch videos.
Despite what defeatist faggots who are glad their ad rev will go up, like Critikal will say, people who don't want to watch the ads, will not watch them. They'll just not watch at all.
I'm sure that stream activity will just skyrocket.

From the 21st of December to the 2nd of January, YouTube didn't update their anti-adblock script, but they're back to the same old shit now, with daily updates on weekdays.

Also, if you use uBO, the latest version (1.55) enables differential updates for filter lists, which will save a ton of bandwidth on the servers hosting those files. Lists now update automatically every 5 hours. That's why the "Purge caches" button has been removed. It should be noted that you can still update any individual list at any time manually, but if you do that, differential updates won't continue for that list until a full cycle has completed, which can take up to 7 days.

TL;DR - If you're using uBO 1.55, just leave it to do its thing and don't fuck around manually updating lists.

I've done this (+ the logging out recommended above, clearing all cookies, restarting my computer...) and YouTube remains unusable for me. I really don't want to have to download every video I want to watch, nor go through some third-party app and have to mess with search and account history to do it.

Is anyone else still getting hit with this bs despite being on uBO 1.55?
