from what I'm gathering from what I've read they're definitely making a season 2 despite the backlash, cost and double down on all of it because it sounds like they didn't resolve dick. did they explain what the witch cult was doing? their goal with the kids? or that planet? just make dyke paradise? the main girl becomes evil to fuck the bad guy and now they have plageus, the green bitch from the image is going to yoda's bedchamber like a good little green slut. Given how horrible Disney's numbers are and given how Leslie's not certain at all if a season 2 will get made makes me think there's decent odds they're gonna Willow this one. IE just take the L, take it off the stream once the contract expires, and write off the losses. And I'm not kidding on their numbers; even if you double and add a bit more to represent the 12 day reception for Acolyte, it'd be doing 20 - 25% worse than both shows, which pissed away a lot of money.

Then again, the malicious retards in Lucasfilms are very desperate to try and shove High Republic down our throats since it's all their IP and they blew billions in failing to make it do well in other media. I can see them being dumb enough to actually sign or finish that second run of eight episodes. Especially since it's the lamest and gayest show they've made yet.

Something else to consider is it’s really difficult to make a compelling game when you’re saddled with a DEI quota checklist to fill out before you can do literally anything else. Then you need to find a dev team passionate enough to carry the project to fruition.

This is why they’ve stuck with low effort mobile games for the most part. They skirted around the diversity quota with the Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor series by throwing in a black woman side-character (notice how they also did this to ensure the Kenobi series met its diversity quota, since it dealt with established characters.)

The inevitable norm for modern Disney AAA games is going to be that girlboss smuggler game. The issue with a game like that is, thanks to ESG, the market is already oversaturated with yas queen slay girl boss games. They know it’ll flop. We know it’ll flop, so they’ll just focus on remastering golden age Star Wars games until that well runs dry and mobile games.

At least I can look forward to a badly remade Rogue Squadron series. Maybe I’ll even get Battle for Naboo and the 2002 Clone Wars game back.

This is a good point...Luke, Han, and Leia showed up all the time. I remember at least one of the few books I read in high featured Luke. And, of course, there are tons of OT-based video games. Nobody cares about Rey, or Poe, or Finn, or Spoon-Faced Asian. There's zero demand for ST games and media. Even the soy people can't fake caring.

The sad thing is, they could repair a fair bit of brand damage by recapturing some of thr old LucasArts magic. Make X-Wing 2, starring you as Poe Dameron running missions against thr First Order in the events immediately before TFA. A solid combat flight simulator bolstered by wall-to-wall SW ship porn and the kind of thin but serviceable plot that the OG X-Wing and Tie Fighter had? That would be such a breath of fresh air, especially since decent space games are thin on the ground these days.

I think anyone who thinks just because this failed in almost every single way they will cancel it, while in every other case would be guaranteed but are being optimistic. I feel like (I didn't watch it I just read a synopsis) it sounds like this last episode barely resolved anything and they will continue to make this shit just to own the haters because its as gay as it gets.

It's because the specimens who work at LucasFilms are genuinely special needs. They hate the baseline audience and are too stupid to realize they're only hiring garbage to make garbage. They'd rather spend more money to run hitpieces in the media than they would to spend time rewritting a script.

Also High Republic was already DOA; only one book did well in sales and it plummeted into irrelevance right after. This show just makes it so it can never be salvaged, since this was the last and best chance they had to recoup any money.

The funniest thing is that IMO they failed at their malicious attempt to character assassinate the Jedi. Since besides some cop analogue moments and Leslie's wife throwing Soul under the bus for no logical reason (seriously, she has Evil Twin to use as the one who did it all), the Jedi were in the right.

They did not try to steal Osha. She wanted to leave. The mother slain legitimately turned into a monster and basically was killing one of her children. Trinity had to save Kelnacca's bacon from possession and had no clue the witches would've died. Mae still tries to kill her sister and is responsible for the compound burning and making it worse. None of the Jedi were in the wrong.

Episode 8 is actually massively infuriating since it's basically a mental breakdown in film form when Leslie realized "oh shit, how do I make the Jedi bad". It's actually so bad and so poisonous to the IP I'd argue it's worse than the Last Jedi.

One of the major ways I think this failed is that nothing is explained. It seems the writer doesn't really even have explanations for everything. The audience knows the Jedi are the good guys. So whatever this show is trying to say about them, it doesn't work. It's just an incoherent suggestion, but it doesn't track and so we also don't follow the perspective of Osha deciding to become a sith because the Jedi are bad. If that is what happens. Nothing works.

As for nothing at all being explained in the show. Such as what the witches were. I assume this is down to the writer not caring about details like that. Also there's probably some hubris like with the sequels that they will just be a big success and it'll al be explained in expanded and spun off material.

The best part of Drinker's review was upgrading Smilo Ren's actor from Discount Ezra Miller to Premium Ezra Miller since he's clearly a much better actor than that faggot, along with some good potshots at Lesbo writing what she knows that gave me a chuckle. From his descriptions, this whole thing was a complete waste of everyone's time and nearly $200 million of Disney's money.
