Gotta say, DK Bananza does look really awesome. What with all the environmental destruction and the like. Not sure what people are complaining about.

Still not enough for me to pick up a Switch 2 just yet, but when I do, it’ll definitely be a game I play.

So the numbers are out and the shit2 is a complete hit far surpassing nintendo's sales expectations. All despite the high price, the defects, the lineup being mostly old games, the insane DRM....................gamers just eat shit with a spoon nowadays.

Call me optimist but I heard the number come from vendors and shop stocking.. If that true, we just wait for a few months to see if they refill or not

Funny how this has better destruction than Crackdown 3, which was advertised entirely around the destruction features.

Nintendo disbanded R&D 1 in the early 2000s. They were basically the Wario & 2D Metroid team at that point, and were on an absolute tear releasing Wario Land 3, 4, the original Wario Ware, Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission all within a four year span. However, a new division absorbed the team in 2004 headed by Iwata whose purpose was to supervise second party development. That's why 2D Metroid and Wario Land are basically dead and the occasional releases that DO come out aren't even developed in house.

The only reason Shake It got made is because Good Feel wanted to make a Wario Land game. It sold like shit, so I think the series is dead, unfortunately.

Game looks great. It's very sandbox-y, but there's more depth (no pun intended) than it seemed at first.

Red Faction was absolutely impressive for its time, but was far more limited in what could be destroyed (only buildings, and not the terrain itself) and the actual destruction points were far more pre-baked and less freeform. You definitely could do a destructible environment game on switch 1, but could you do this destructible environment game on switch 1? I highly doubt it.

I got one too.

I won mine, even then I would have rather just got money. The games on it were either exclusives I didn't care about except for a select few I can count on one hand or games I could play on PC. WiiU barely even had any exclusives to incentivize people to buy it apparently so even less of a reason, no wonder the emulation scene for that console was dead.

I have some good news on the Switch 2 front: I managed to exchange my defective Switch 2 for a new unit that doesn’t freeze when you put it into the dock while the system’s on or if you try to wake it up while it’s in the dock.

As to what caused it I chatted with the employee and he’s seen it a couple of times since the system dropped, he thinks it’s something to do with the USB-C slot that connects to the dock going bad.

I've chatted with a few GameStop employees about the Switch 2 stock situation whilst hunting for a replacement system and most stores got their first restock this week with some even selling out the day they get 'em in.

I personally liked it and made me feel good about pre-ordering it when I got my Switch 2. I enjoyed Odyssey and this game feels like a big DK-flavored upgrade to it. I may also pick up the amiibo they announced too, I'm flip-flopping on it since I have all of the Smash-centric DK amiibos (with me double-dipping on DK via Skylanders' DK figure), the unlock that the DK & Pauline amiibo provides being billed as an "early" unlock, and the cost.

EDIT: The cost for the DK & Pauline amiibo’s been revealed by Best Buy, it’s $30.

The sequel, Red Faction: Gorilla Guerilla eschewed destructible terrain in favor of destructible buildings. It was a much better, much more satisfying experience and was one of the most impressive games I had ever played at the time. That game is 16 years old.

If they could let you chip apart buildings until they crumble with actual physics calculations in 2009, they could have absolutely expanded that to include the ground in 2024. They just chose not to.

Battle Clash (and a few other titles I neglected to mention) are actually Super Scope games and thus are probably still "safe" from being enjoyed by the masses but Mario Paint's time might have finally come.
