Disaster Updates on the Las Vegas Shooting - this is not the shitposting thread you are looking for

Thankfully, we have a great thread for all of your retarded arguments about gun control or whatever is going on in there at the moment, but for the rest of us there is a ton of shit coming out so we'll keep track of it here. If you want to argue like a retard, once again, the containment thread is perfect for that. So fuck off with that shit in here. Same with speculations. Keep this thread mostly for hard facts and discussion of said facts.

Basic Bitches Facts

  • 59 people were killed (including the gunman), and according to police sources, at least 527 were injured.
  • The shooter is Stephen Paddock, 64, from the area.
  • The FBI said he was believed to have acted alone.
  • He opened fired on the Route 91 Harvest Country Music festival in Las Vegas
  • About 22,000 people were attending the festival at the time
  • His sniper nest was in a corner room he rented on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel & Casino
  • 23 guns were found in his hotel room, with another 24 at his various, alongside explosives and thousands of rounds.

Facts about the victims
  • Multiple portraits of the victims have been published so far, if you want to get really depressed.
  • Three of them have yet to be identified
  • It's also important to remember: a lot of the victims are in critical condition and the death toll may keep rising, unfortunately.

The Updates:

This is where it gets interesting:

What Stephen Paddock did was highly professional. According to the last press conference by Undersheriff McMahill, two cameras were set up in the hallway in order to see SWAT team approaching, as well as one through the hotel room's peephole. Additionally, Stephen Paddock set up a camera inside of the room filming himself and possibly streaming it.

The Las Vegas gunman responsible for shooting over 550 people reportedly filmed himself during the rampage, according to multiple reports.

The latest revelation into shooter Stephen Paddock on Tuesday is that he had cameras set up in the hallway to know when police were closing in on his position but also reportedly had a device recording him in his hotel room as he fired upon thousands of concertgoers.

“Las Vegas madman Stephen Paddock set up a camera inside his hotel room to capture his deadly shooting rampage — and other surveillance in the hallway to alert him as cops closed in on him,” the New York Post reported.

Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Tuesday that the FBI is reviewing all the footage recovered from the crime scene.

In the weeks prior to the shooting, Stephen Paddock wired $100,000 to the Philippines, Australia and possibly the Middle-East. He also recently visited Dubai according to certain reports, as did Marilou Danley.

First called a person of interest, then unrelated to the shooting, now she is back on the FBI's shitlist and still in the Philippines. There are reports she might be on her way back to answer questions but there is no certainty either way right now.

Leaked pictures have shown he left a note behind, but we still do not know what was written on it

And in case you didn't think he was already enough of a monster, turns out he used to work for the IRS

The Charlotte Observer reports:

The Las Vegas gunman who killed nearly 60 people at a country music festival worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, an IRS agent and in an auditing department over a 10-year period.

A spokeswoman for the Office of Personnel Management told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Stephen Paddock's employment included about two years as a mail carrier from 1976 to 1978.

After that, he worked as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for six years until 1984. And then he worked a defense auditing job for about 18 months.

Paddock also previously worked as a defense contractor sometime during the late 80s, and graduated college from Cal State Northridge in 1977.

So now that it's been more then 24 hours, Hillary is implicitly blaming Trump voters and the Gop. How fucking low can she go? This shit had nothing to do with politics; people were enjoying themselves at a show, and a lunatic opened fire on them.
*sigh*

And this cunt can't figure out why she's not in the White House.

Go rot, Hillary!

He illustrates the point that whilst the motives of Stephen Paddock are unclear to the public, stranger mass murder is usually politically/message motivated or fame motivated - the fame aspect usually only displaying in younger killers.

I'd also like to point out that in addition, most mass shooters are socially isolated and generally have no friends. While there are varying reports on Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold being bullied, Adam Lanza was socially isolated, James Holmes was isolated, Elliot Rodger, Seung-Hui Cho, Randy Stair, and most smaller mass shootings were done by socially isolated men in their late teens/early 20s.

This guy had a wife (though I have heard she used other people's SSNs and was married to more than one man), millions of dollars, planes he owned, thousands to gamble with in Vegas. Almost every other mass shooter is a poor loser trying to gain fame or take out the frustration of their bleak life on a lot of other people.

In my opinion most mass shooters use mass murder as a frustrated outlet of expression because their lives are pointless, and extremely lonely, and they want to be famous. See: James Holmes sending his freaky diary to his psychiatrist (after texting her death threats), Seung-Hui Cho mailing his manifesto to NBC, Elliot Rodger posting his youtube videos online threatening the Day of Retribution, Randy Stair also posting a similar youtube manifesto before his mass murder.

He does not fit the mold of almost every mass shooter who immediately commits suicide. Which other mass shooter, who commits suicide, even had a wife?

PLEASE, try to keep this thread more focused on the facts surrounding the mass murder and not political response to it. You can use the other thread for X saying X about the massacre.

Some notes: he rented his rooms through Air BNB, not "The Ogden" (who I assume are building owners). He rented an Air BNB from someone who owned the rooms.

Within 13 minutes, they know the suspect's room number.

It took them 1 hour 2 minutes, from receiving the report of exactly the room number the suspect was in, to breaching the room. They had police officers on the same floor 12 minutes after the shooting started.

He had 50 pounds of Tannerite in his car. They have clarified that this was the ammonium nitrate in his car.

Dude tried to shoot jet fuel tanks, but the bullets didn't penetrate *sigh*

600 yards is a fairly far shot for the 5.56 he was firing, and I don't imagine they make jet fuel tanks out of excessively thin metal.

I would like to know how many spent casings they find of the 5.56 and the .308 I believe he used. It would make a lot more sense if he used the more powerful .308 round solely for the tanks.

Very very interesting. The two separate broken windows (and I suspect the two separate rooms he booked) he fired out of had two separate purposes. One was to fire into the music festival crowd, and one was to fire at jet fuel tanks, according to this picture.

The fact that he tried was his first mistake. Fuel tanks and trucks aren't like they're portrayed in vidya or movies (where one bullet blows them up); they're designed to survive goddamned vehicles crashing into them without endangering the cargo. Suffice to say, they're made of tougher stuff than most realize - often with multiple layers of metal - and I'm sort of glad he wasn't able to pull that shit off because of it.

I'm going to guess the security cameras he set up saw that police were already on the 32nd floor and he had already shot a security guard within 2 minutes of stopping his shooting rampage.
If you read the article more the police actually say the cams weren't recording. Maybe that's what happened. He realized he couldn't see the police coming and decided to ended it when they got to his door

They said the cameras weren't recording. That does not mean they weren't displaying the live video feed, without recording.

One of the cameras used was a baby monitor. I think there are at least some baby monitors which solely display a live video feed with no recording functions.

The police said there are no video records from the cameras. They did not say the cameras weren't functional or not operating. Listen to the video posted above, it's the actual report from police that the fox news article is summarizing. Much more detailed and accurate.

Nevertheless, he had a security guard banging on his door within 2-3 minutes of him stopping firing. He shot him through the door. I imagine he realized his escape route was cut off at that point.

One of Stephen Paddock's emails was pwrpuff78@yahoo.com: source, page 3.

In this image, he's clearly watching the Powerpuff Girls:

This is :optimistic: as hell, but hear me out. What if this whole thing was a Randy Stair situation? He worshiped one, or all, of the Powerpuff Girls and in a desperate attempt to be reunited with or impress his toddler waifus he began firing wildly at people in a crowd. That's the reason the cops haven't released a motive yet. Because it's too fucking ridiculous to take seriously.

Either that or it was a Mossad false flag.

When one piece gets unraveled more questions come up. The guy apparently had intended to survive the shooting and escape. I wonder how he fucked up and was forced to kill himself

I know I shouldn't be surprised by this but it's scary that he also wanted to blow up the jet fuel tanks; which he hoped would cause even more damage if they exploded. Similar to Columbine with the propane bombs.

My view on him wanting to escape is that he wanted to continue shooting on the street. Possibly attack the paramedics and other first responders helping the numerous injured. Thankfully he offed himself before that could happen.

Maybe this was Randy Stair’s revenge thing he was talking about? Guess he did go ghost.

It really says a lot about how we have turned political ideology into the new moral universe, and psychologists into confessors, that it's so hard for so many people to wrap their head around the notion that maybe this dude was just a plain old evil scumbag who wanted to kill people 'cause it sounded satisfying.

That's what's aggravating me so much. I'm someone who is way too into true crime an amateur criminologist, and the majority of mass shootings/rampage murders usually have nothing to do with politics or religion.

Like, I watched a Youtube video yesterday about James Oliver Huberty, a scumfuck who murdered 21 people in a McDonald's for no reason. This article lists other major mass shootings in the United States, and most of them had no political or religious motive. Some people really do just want to watch the world burn.
