For someone who believes "there is (almost) no such thing as bad tactics", he sure deliberate about tactics a lot.

That hairy business about which country owes which:

Well, add World War II to the list of topics Bob doesn't know shit about but arrogantly claims expertise.

She’s so dumb she might just be awed by Bob’s “intellect,” such as it is.
I'd love to see Bob prepare to insult her for being trailer trash and then realise that she's nominally Muslim trailer trash and so higher on the progressive stack than he is.

He's always done that; I remember him saying that the MCU holds exactly the same position today that the Catholic Church did during the Middle Ages.
I've spent most of my adult life calling this 'Thatcherite architecture' but now I learn it's been around since the 50s. Every day's a school day.
Down here in Londonistan many of the brutalist blocks were built by Labour governments during the slum clearances, so for me brutalism always reminds me of council flats.

Isn't the whole "Russia got Trump elected" stuff just unsubstantiated wishful thinking on leftists part?

So much for being a thinker, and not a believer.
It was largely debunked but the left control the narrative these days and as such, they have buried pretty much all debunking and cling to ANY ambiguity in Trump being cleared to claim Trump was "installed" by Russia by way of the whole "absence of evidence doesn't mean something isn't true if you believe in it" bullshit, which ironically the left like to clown on fundies for spouting in relation to the existence of God.

It's mostly government/general office buildings that are built like this in my city; for some reason I've always associated them with the really bleak archival footage of the 1980s, where everything seems to have the colour palette of a PS3 game.

I hope Bob gets to visit the glorious island nation some day. I'd love to hear his on-the-ground live tweeting after he gets mugged by a stunning and diverse group of youths on the circle line.

Really? I've heard a LOT of explanations, from reasonable to batshit insane, for why Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold did what they did but racism is a completely new one. Points for originality in his retardation, I guess?

Well, I suppose there was that one paranoia merchant trying to convince people that it was video games that did it because games are evil and Doom is a game where you murder Jewish children in a concentration camp. (Think about that one for a second and try guess the 'proof' offered.)

The hanging Commander Keens in the super-secret Wolfenstein level.
The racist angle came from the fact that they called one black victim the n-word before killing him, which was immortalized via the 911 tapes where one of the survivors was giving a recap of the carnage to a 911 operator mid-massacre.

IIRC the incident happened in the library which was where Harris and Klebold also executed fellow students for being fundie Christians as well (though unlike the former, the later has been long disputed as to which student was actually forced to admit her faith in Christ before being shot as far as two students allegedly being asked the question before being shot and the one who died from her wounds, having her parents promoting this morbid factoid about their daughter's death on the fundie christian grifter scene where they made bank off exploiting their daughter's tragic death while the other girl shot for being a Christian, not going public with her would be killer's taunting her before they shot her).

Why, then, does he oppose making ordinary Americans resilient to climate change by giving them land? A subsistence farmer will be far less negatively affected by a lack of consoomer goods from China than a ”highly-evolved 21st Century American” in a big city, and that subsistence farmer will produce a lot less CO2.
I don't really want to dampen anyone's respect for farmers or anything, but as Victor David Hanson once pointed out, throughout history MOST of humanity were subsistence farmers.

And every language had a term for "famine."

If everyone could grow their own food and survive without problem, this would not be the case.

Mass starvations are a thing of the past because regions of the world aren't hit simultaneously by these factors. So if one area is hit by drought, food can be shipped from the zones getting plenty of rain that season to cover the loss. Having people's food be again locked to the region they live in would just return these old problems. (But I do encourage people to learn some farming for a variety of reasons nonetheless.)

I think a core problem here is that people don't know what "rational" means, although they have a vague feeling it is good.

I remember a discussion along these lines. Had two people insist an opinion was "rational" even though neither one could give a "reason" for it.

It wasn't a dumb opinion, by the way; I don't even necessarily disagree with it. But you know... if there's no reasoning behind it, it's not rational. And that's okay. Everyone has irrational opinions, since postulates are a thing.
Rational is only a process, it's not a goal because such a thing is nonsensical. (as GK Chesterton said: "The purely rational man will not marry. The purely rational soldier will not fight.") Rationality is like any other logical process: GIGO. If you honestly believe that aliens exist and can read minds then covering your head with tin foil is completely rational (assuming tin foil works). That person isn't irrational, they have bad data.

Probably the most well-known examples of brutalist architecture in Massachusetts are Boston City Hall and the entire original campus at UMASS Dartmouth. I wouldn't be surprised if a troglodyte like Bob admires both of them. Boston City Hall has been almost universally reviled from the time it was constructed, not only because of its ugliness but also because the heart of Boston's old downtown, including the entire Scollay Square neighborhood, was torn down to clear its site for construction.

He's just so disgusting. The fact that he lacks the capability of looking himself in the mirror and recognize the horror that stares back at him is extraordinary.

I watched "1917" last week, and some time ago I also saw "They Shall Not Grow Old". How I would love to see Robert be subjected to the kind of atrocious warfare that these brave lads had to go through. Perhaps that would have cured some of his spoiled and rancid personality.

On second thought, perhaps not. No doubt his rampant incompetency on the battlefield would have spelled out certain doom for his fellow soliders. I imagine he would never have even gotten that far, though. It's far more likely that his skillset would have been deemed to be such that he would, at most, be considered capable of digging out latrines. Soon enough, he would accidentally fall down into his own, personal latrine, which would have been located far away from the others out of necessity, given the sheer quantity of Robert's excrement, and the particularly pungent smell of it. The depth of the ditch, combined with Robert's trademark physique, would be to the point that he would not manage to get up again. Morale would then soar into unprecedented heights, and good times would be had by all, despite the horrors of the war. Even the enemy would be happy for their adversaries being rid of Robert; not out of practicality for their own well-being, given that their foe would have lost personnel, but simply out of sympathy for the opposing faction. In this way, Robert would indeed serve his country in an at least somewhat useful manner.
Robert would be part of the toxic civilian set in WW1: the ones who exploited every possible loophole available (up to and including pretending to be deathly ill or purposely hurting himself so he could not be inducted), yet being a total warhawk and demanding everyone else die and attacking soldiers if they tried to argue that the war was unwinnable or the horrors of war being the opposite of the detached blob's view of war being clean and bloodless. Fuck, he'd be one of the types giving out white feathers to any male not in a uniform to try and shame them into joining up to die horribly in the Western Front while refusing to do so himself.

Rationality doesn't guarantee you are right; it just helps you to be slightly less likely to be wrong.

And I follow Christine Korsgaard in thinking that rationality is necessarily a normative faculty, i.e. it is bound to a person's internalized ethics. I therefore reject Chesterton's conclusions, because there are coherent and widely-adopted ethics in which marriage and fighting for a cause are good, and therefore rational, things to do. (An upshot is that robots cannot be rational in Korsgaard's sense, sorry Flexo).

Bobby's "ethics" is but flotsam and jetsam he gathered from his overladies and overtroons, hence he cannot be rational even if he had the facility for introspection -- which he, needless to say, lacks.

Somehow I doubt the 4-7 number. And I wonder why doesn't Bobby review any of those "hundreds of other" movies.

MCU puts the name of indie darling directors on their products while vetos their creative visions. This is enough to fool Bobby to think MCU is somehow "art":

You missed Chesterton qualifier: PURELY.

Yes, if you have goals or considerations then marriage (if you want kids) & fighting (if you want to defend your home) are completely rational.

But the goals themselves are not rational.

It's like the paradox of being unable to use logic to prove that you should use logic. Eventually there are axioms you have to accept otherwise the system locks up and your head explodes. (If you're a robot built without paradox absorbtion crumple zones.)
