You hit the nail on the head here. She wants validation and people to physically say to her that they are proud of her for minor things. Why? Because probably, she had nobody to be proud of her when she was growing up. Nobody told her they were proud of her, whether it was family or friends. She wants to hear words that she did not here when she was a kid. Even though she has Becky, Becky saying she is proud might be starting to sound empty either because it has no meaning or not enough validation. Or she doesn't say it at all, who knows.

That is why she won't cut her hair- because there's absolutely no way she could fit her shelf ass in one. She is much wider than the chair.
Probably why she won't go to the dentist or get her nails done too.

Well now I'm doubting my own recall of events, but I believe Amber said she found a pair of glasses in a parking lot and kept them because she liked them. I don't believe she has ever talked about seeing an eye doctor, or having actual prescribed-for-her glasses.

To be fair and confirm you're not mis-remembering but I read that somewhere too. I just can't be pressed to go back far enough to find whether she actually said that or not.

They apparently aren't even her glasses anyway... The story was (and of course, remember Amberlynn) was that she found them in a parking lot while out one day with Destiny and thought they looked cute.

As for Big AL having a prescription...

Watching that old glasses video, it looks like she barely needed them and had a very weak prescription (you can tell by the degree of distortion on the side of her face. The worse your eyesight is, the greater the distortion. Her glasses practically look like fake "for show" glasses because there is so little distortion)

So unless she's losing her eyesight to the beetus, I'm sure it doesn't make much difference to her that she no longer has glasses
