Avowed - Obsidian's new game, like Pillars of Eternity meets Elder Scrolls

I got home after work excited to play this game but I didn't last more than an hour of gameplay before I realized it wasn't for me. The world/lore of the game is just not my thing. I wasted $60 on this game.

How far we have fallen in gaming standards.

The combat in this game is awful.
The majority of enemies seem to stand still and turn to face you slowly or fire projectiles in your general direction. If you hit them they seem to get stun locked for a few seconds and then slowly turn to face your direction as long as you keep moving. It somehow feels like a step back from Oblivion combat, which was notoriously bad but at least with that you had to try and back up to avoid hits. This you just seem to kite around enemies.

The leveling curve is all over the place. Normal enemies can be just as hard as bosses if you one weapon rank lower then them or 2-3 levels below them. Its like an MMO where you have to map out where all the weaker enemies on the map are and hope you gathered enough EXP/gear to tackle the harder parts of the map.

Yeah, the enemy AI is braindead. that's why duel wielding is so broken because you hit them at sonic speed and there is nothing they can do. i just find that satisfying.

Or just pirate it if you can, like a sapient person would. AAA slop is not worth paying for anyway. I haven't paid for a single player game since... well, even before TW3, since I got that one free for the gfx card. I think the last big game I bought was Skyrim on release, and I pirated the dlcs and the rest of it anyway.
 
This game peaked at like 9k players on Steam, are there even any active seeders for this game?
 
I do see some Awoved players wanting to try PoE on r/ProjectEternity.
Now I don't know if the hard change in the gameplay will be well received or not.

Is there any update on Patrician or did he finally take his meds?
If even he forgot this game existed, the it is truly over. He's the Nr.1 Avowed fan, after all.
 
Almost done with the game. will write about it once its over

I ended up killing Sapadal for being and out of control schizo god that cant speak one sentence with out being a riddle. Im sure that wont bite me in the ass.

Anyone tried turn based-mode for POE 1? I kinda wanna try it.
 
Not yet, if you try a run with it I'll gladly read your opinion on it cause i restated a run just before the turn based fight thing and I don't know if I want to re-restart one
 
Finished Avowed. Now before people give me dumb stickers, yes, the game is woke and yes, it is a discount Elder Scrolls games. But is it still something worth playing? i thought it was decent for what it was. A medium size AA game that you will get around 30-40 hours of gameplay. Trying to sell it at 70$ is an outright scam when the game was clearly made for people subscribed to Xbox game pass. I would not pay them more then 30$ for this. The gameplay starts off slow but gets better as you unlock more skills and get better gear. Playing as a dual wielder felt like cheating at times but it was the kind of cheat that made it fun. The story is ok i guess. if you played the POE games it will atleast keep your attention but if not, It will really not make sense since you will not have all the context of the older games.

I wonder if this is the end of the POE series. If so, it ended in a whimper while POE two was either you liked it or hated it.
