The importance of finding the original owner of the baby monkey Rio is to understand how he was traded/sold/adopted and find his torturer.
Rio is featured heavily in some of Vion's productions. Vion was known to rape, torture, dismember, and drown Rio and other baby monkeys.

The lawsuit came to the public's attention after early copies of the filings were deliberately leaked to Youtuber "Podcast Cringe."

Newly surfaced text messages between Brendan Schaub and the owner of Pure Spectrum reveal their financial relationship fell apart when Schaub didn't have the "time and energy" to publish the sponsored Instagram posts required for his $40k a month stipends. Allegedly, Schaub would then sign a written agreement to sell back his stake in the company... only to then sell his stake a second time to an unrelated third party. If you're confused as to how he can do that, he legally can't.

The only problem? The owner has submitted a signed sworn affidavit claiming he was locked out of his office, as well as the email account which contains the only copy of the signed agreement. Now, Brendan Schaub is claiming it doesn't exist at all, and the owner is just crazy. Someone is lying and has possibly committed perjury.

Even though the judge is known to be liberal (as opposed to the conservative judge who retired during one of Dave's delays), all the evidence suggests she is sick of his bullshit. There remains therefore the possibility of courtroom fireworks, though he could always take a plea deal at the last minute and ensure that Nothing Ever Happens.

Jury trial is set for the 13th August. This court often livestreams trials, or at least broadcasts the audio. Kiwis local to Colombia, Missouri, may wish to attend (and behave).
