I hope they put the tank suit in....
Really I hope they use the DS2 suit system, upgrades and maximum HP carry over but suit effects remain unique to what you wear.

Also, it’s a small thing but I want the console-specific suits back

That white and lime-green combo is crisp.

Bonus points if when Isaac talks to someone he flips up the helmet Downfall style

Retain the classic “suit up” animation at the stores but this would be cool to have, maybe not in all custscenes but once or twice in person and during RIG calls would be cool.

Doesn't seem like a complete disaster so far, which for a modern EA game is high praise. I know some people are flipping out over Isaac talking but as long as it's not like a Sony game where he's Marvel quipping every 5 seconds I'm fine with it.
Who knows how Isaac talking will impact the story, but they absolutely made the right call in getting Gunner back.

Gunner is Isaac as far as I'm concerned, having anyone else voicing him would've clashed too much with 2 & 3.

"Because you were my everything. And if I let you go, I have nothing left."

Best line in DS2, a result of excellent acting, fantastic writing and direction.

If they can capture a fraction of that then we’re in for a treat.

Some details from the stream:

-Gunner Write returns to voice Isaac, but he'll only speak when interacting with other characters.
-The dismemberment system is divided into two parts, stripping away the flesh to expose the bone, and breaking the bone to cut the limb off (dangling is a possibility if some flesh remains). You'll need to target the exposed bone to cut the limb, shooting anywhere else will only damage the flesh.
-This system provides utility for weapons like the pulse rifle and flamethrower, both can rapidly expose bones.
-To accommodate the DS2 zero-g mechanics, some areas will be redesigned to make better use of the mobility.
-The story will follow the main beats of the original, but will give more insight into other characters like Nicole.
-They reiterated that stuff like the anime and sequels will be referenced in the remake to some extent.

All in all, some good stuff here. Happy to see them interact with the community, wish more developers did that.

Panel where Gunner Wright announces in a prerecorded video that he is going to be voicing Clarke in the remake. The two EA dudes being interviewed say some surprisingly reassuring things complementary to this, echoing what has been said here about how Gunner pretty much is Isaac Clarke. They also mention how he will only speak when spoken to or in situations where it would be strange for him not to say something. They want to find a way to give Isaac his voice in the remake without sacrificing the feeling of isolation that the first game is renowned for giving the player. They also touch on how Isaac is not a space marine and is a very regular guy, which was as we all know a very important point of the original game.

All in all like everybody else I am still skeptical because EA but this is admittedly making me a bit more cautiously optimistic.

On one hand, I hate EA and loathe them for what they did to Visceral and Dead Space in general.

But on the other, this doesn't seem like a quick cash grab. It seems like they are really trying here, and with good results.

I'll be watching a little closer for more updates like this, but they are surprisingly on the right track.
for me the question remains - why?
they clearly want to jump onto the REmake train, but there's a big difference between a bunch of nips overworking themselves for onigiri where it's easy to make a profit compared to leafshits trying to "remake" a game that for all intensive purposes still holds up. there was simply no need for it, it's like trying to remake the matrix or the LOTR movies.

so even if the remake isn't a complete disaster I highly doubt it will give EA the expected money in return they dumped into it, especially when a simple technical bump for 1 would've been more than enough (you could even sell those to consoletards since easily because if there's no version for their current gen it might as well not exist).

Since Isaac is going to be talking and they specifically mention Nicole as a character they will be giving more attention to I hope they take a look at some of the binaural audio stuff games like Hellblade use. Could make for some good spooky moments.

The Remake is shaping up to be surprisingly better than expected. The Dismemberment system has been overhauled and is far more detailed than just breaking off parts of models like it used to be. Though wont be surprised if the characters are pozzed and nicole turns out to be a 41% club member.

They also replaced the original's hopping from wall to wall zero-g and admittedly copy pasted DS2's EVA space action and added new optional areas with a generic security passcard system as seen in one of their demos where you can see "REQUIRES SECURITY LEVEL 1" in front of a locked door. Somehow they havent implemented the door headers from the first game yet.

the PS3 suit looks too similar to the tank suit with the color scheme and the Xbox 360 suit was sweet. Hope we get to customize suit colors if there's a tacked on Horde Co-op mode unlike the 50 security suit "variations" in DS2's Multiplayer.

Well color me surprised. It genuinely just looks like a remake of Dead Space rather than a complete overhaul. Still, looking at the gameplay footage, the original Dead Space holds up incredibly well because of its lighting and it hiding lower quality assets using lighting, which sort of validates the point that Dead Space probably wasn't old enough to need a remake.

Dead Space "needs" a remake more in the sense that they need to show EA that people do care about the series and don't want it to have ended like it did, bastardized to hell.

I disagree with adding ds2 zero g. Unless they are going to rework rooms like the centrifuge.

They mentioned earlier they were going to do that, actually. They're definitely not half-assing it, so I'm wondering what happened to reality if EA is making a quality remaster of a beloved product.
Two options, dimensional merge has fucked everything to the point of being unrecognizable or EA is lulling everyone into a false sense of security before hitting us with surprise bullshit.

EA saw the writing on the wall with RE2 remake and the comeback success of Resident Evil (mommy milkers) and there’s some investor confidence in horror again. If this is successful we might see DS4 or DS3 redux.

tbh I never was concerned about that, it's a AAA game after all. heck one of TLOU2's good parts are the technical aspects. and it's not what the people hate the game for.

I mean, at least something good has to come out of Clown World, right? I mean, if everything is upside down, why not EA?
