New Vegas was my first Fallout game and it's pretty awesome even by modern game standards. In my opinion it's about as good as GTA V's story mode which I thought was pretty great. Really the main difference for me is graphical. Shame Fallout 4 wasn't better. Still liked Fallout 4, I'm just disappointed in it.
You're acting like Caesar would just have his legions march around doing nothing but garrison and patrol duty (which is most likely inevitable since I doubt the average NCR citizen will just submit to the Legion), but even if he could take over NCR territory with no long-lasting partisan bands to put down, the Legion was built on bloodlust and conquest, and nobody embodies that more than his number 2, Lanius. Caesar is far too optimistic when he thinks it will just settle down as his praetorians and enforce his will and not start shit with people out of boredom.
And as far as the Legion's merits, I do see them. Trouble is they're merits in the hellhole known as Arizona, and demerits in a more civilized place like the Mojave. Yes, I'm aware the Mojave is hardly civilized, but compared to pre-Legion Arizona it might as well be paradise.
Slightly disagree : He's smarter than you'd think, but he's purely a military genius and absolute mad man. There's a quote famously attributed to Napoleon or Bradley (though it's apparently from Gen Robert H Barrow) that goes "Amateurs talk strategy; Professionals talk logistics". It wasn't about economics, it was about logistics and Lanius is smart enough to know that he'd be overextending himself without proper restructuring. He couldn't give two shits about establishing or maintaining an advanced civilization, only being the biggest, baddest war band to ever grace the wasteland.I think Lanius' mad dog persona was just a front to inspire fear. If I remember correctly, if you want to persuade him to stand down during the Hoover Dam battle you end up talking about economics, so he's clearly more intelligent than he lets on.
Quite literally this. The Legion had already done a great job of razing its resupply chain with the endless slave raids and the burning and looting of Nelson and Nipton, and the structure of California in that its both massive and interconnected meant the Legion wouldn't have the manpower to garrison its cities and patrol the long-distance trade routes and keep the raiders from returning to Arizona.Slightly disagree : He's smarter than you'd think, but he's purely a military genius and absolute mad man. As much as people shit on Oliver, he at least knew enough to realize that his opposition wasn't static and wouldn't use the same tactics twice, hence why he ordered the Rangers to position themselves on the dam proper instead of the nearby ridge. He knew how much the Rangers fucked Caesar up during the first battle and realized that they would be the most likely prime targets, mixing them with the regular NCR troopers on the dam made them a LOT harder to take out at once.Quite literally this. Also, speaking of logistics, I know General Oliver gets shat on in-game by just about everyone for not being nearly as aggressive as he should be, but considering the NCR's position prior to the Courier helping them out, they barely have the manpower to keep things from falling apart at the seams, never mind go on the attack. Their rear areas have the Khans and Fiends, the Legion has a substantial foothold across the river and is raiding caravans and burning down townships, and the Brotherhood of Steel is still around and might decide to come out and start vaporizing the NCR if something else like say, a Legion assault distracts them. Oh, and they're not going to actually conquer the Dam once and for all if they think House is going to find a way to snatch it from them, and considering he does just that if you side with him, its a valid fear. And as to why there's a bunch of half-trained conscripts there and not the Rangers? Because you send special forces to chase the ghosts called guerilla fighters, and conscripts when you're dealing with a numberless horde like the Legion since they'll probably hit a target, even if it isn't the one they were aiming for.
This is what it's going to take for me to replay it as well because while I know this is shallow, NV's graphics have simply aged too poorly for me to devote the time to the game again, it just looks flat out bad.I'll get into NV again if the conversion mod for 4 ever comes out.
Damn this looks really damn good.
Also whoever made the textures/models and animations for these guns should be given an award or something because they look sexy as hell.
It depends on how much credit you want to give Oliver. His choice is tactically sound but others cast doubt on his reasoning for the choice with people believing its his way to make sure the army doesn't get routed and bailed out by the rangers again to his embarrassment like last time. I also think wait and see Oliver is hated by so many in the NCR just because he was building up all his strength at the dam and having so much of his force sitting around doing nothing as every other NCR garrison is understaffed and responsible for solving problems they don't have the manpower for. He gets shit on not just for being non-aggressive but because he is only ever looking in one direction as all his subordinates are crying out for assistance. As much as people shit on Oliver, he at least knew enough to realize that his opposition wasn't static and wouldn't use the same tactics twice, hence why he ordered the Rangers to position themselves on the dam proper instead of the nearby ridge. And what do you know? If the legion repairs their Howitzer it turns out to be completely fucking useless as the area they expected the Rangers to be (an easily shelled ridge) was miraculously empty.
Granted he's not the best military mind in the world, but the man is by no means a complete incompetent.
They've all been weapons mods for Fallout 4 for some time now and they single-handedly make 4's weapon selection suck less ass. Service Rifle is the best Fallout 4 weapon mod, bar none.

If they're using Deadpool2099's, which I'm assuming they are, since they're using his 12.7mm pistol. It's my go to weapon's mod, mix with Niero's Chosen of Atom armor for peak Wasteland operator. They've all been weapons mods for Fallout 4 for some time now and they single-handedly make 4's weapon selection suck less ass. I can't stand that cover of Orange Colored Sky, it's really bad.If they're using Deadpool2099's, which I'm assuming they are, since they're using his 12.7mm pistol. It's my go to weapon's mod, mix with Niero's Chosen of Atom armor for peak Wasteland operator.
I thought I was done with Fallout 4 myself, but Kinggath just had to drop this
Yeah, it's not great, but Sim Settlements is so I can forgive Kinggath for poor musical taste.I can't stand that cover of Orange Colored Sky, it's really bad.
He actually does have a plan for that: sucking his own dick with a letter. My problem with House is how he doesn't accept any deviation from his plans and is very quick to enact petty or serious vengeance on people that don't fall into line with plans they never knew existed. I also get the feeling that if something were to go wrong with his life support system he has no plans on how to keep his Vegas alive after he is dead
With the upgrades, grunt perk, ease of repair, and versatility of ammo it can easily be used the entirety of the game. They've all been weapons mods for Fallout 4 for some time now and they single-handedly make 4's weapon selection suck less ass. NCR would be pro-Biden, the Legion would be pro-Trump and House would be the galaxy brained centrist. You know guys, with us being in such New Vegas mood and all. I really had this weird idea.
How you imagine each major reaction of Fallout New Vegas would react to 2020 and our own political factions? Such as Trump, Antifa, the EU, the UN, and etc.
Maybe this is inspired with those NV videos that show what each major leader thinks of the other faction, exposing their flaws but still not beyond complimenting them on what they do right. Thats what made NV's factions so complex and, well, human. None of them are purely good or evil (tho the legion comes dangerously close to it).
Besides I get a kick at seeing people talking about each faction
