While many make the mistake of keeping the nostalgia glasses on when looking at games (or movies) from their youth - refusing to examine the clear propoganda that was present then (also serves as a mark against the oldfags who should have had the faculties and wherewithal to not be fine with such abhorrent faggotry and negrolatry) - it's obviously much worse nowadays and to pretend otherwise is silly.
Obviously, "I pinky promise I try to be objective about my nostalgiafag series" only goes so far, so I'll share what's, in my mind, a similar and stronger example of hamfisted, inappropriate wokebrain for the sake of wokebrain that is
not contextually relevant. Even though I don't feel detractors of NEO's localization deserve it.
NEO also repeats what a lot of modern localizations do where they downplay femininity and gendered language, where DS did not. These are good criticisms. So is not liking how the series's localization in general is very transformative. I, personally, am accepting of taking some liberties with localization. A sizable amount of people are not. Professional localizers should default to respectful of this. They do not.
However, I'm not accepting the idea that DS has anything that can be stretched as propaganda without some concrete examples. I'd really like to hear more specifics about that; if I'm possibly overlooking something obvious. I'm also going to say that it's equally silly for someone to pretend to be upset about dialogue and characters whose names they don't even know, for a game they haven't played, in a series they haven't played. That's Tumblr fujoshi superwholock fandom horseshit, and I'm not going to respect it here either just because we both happen to think localizers who perpetuate literal faggot imperialism and destroy art should be sacrificed to a volcano.
