Minecraft within all internal departments has the culture of working as lethargically as possible, as majority of people just don't give a fuck or don't want to work and effectively made so that anyone who wants to do actual work is put down back in line since they'd make the rest "look bad" (it's bad to that degree that barely anyone wants to work there, and only the shittiest workers get sent there, dubbed as a 'shadow realm' of sorts). Their organization of work is a cluster fuck as well where the internal devs/testers have to rely on a public wiki and bug database (which I think is one third milion tickets by now) to keep track of things within the game. It's a money pit that does not have a bottom that Microsoft keeps dumping their money into. To be honest, I don't think Minecraft itself as a game brings them any money, it's all the merch/toys being sold gives them a return, which inevitably is burned on dogshit spinoff games that may be not even released.
