Yeah, that was bad. I fear it's a new era of fatalities we're seeing. Now, I've mentioned it before but with the excessive amounts of fatality lite we have with....well pretty much everything since 11 and 10, I think, NR have to rely on tongue-in-cheek humor and memes and shit.

At times it has worked. Kano had a good fatality that felt in line with his character in 11. On the other hand, the "Here's Johnny" from Johnny in the same game was a bit...on the nose.

The one that did completely make me go :\ was Rain's.


I still do not know how to feel about this.

Anyway overall, I don't mind Sindel's look in this except her face which barely makes her look older than her daughters. You could have told me she was the sister of Mileena and Kitana, and I'd believe you. She also looks distressingly like Li Mei who's not even in the same gene pool.

I'm not asking them to make her look ancient but she looked age appropriate in MK9.

Honestly, the biggest flaw with her is her fatality even if her gameplay looks fun.

Jesus Christ, seeing it side-by-side like that, do Sindel and Li Mei literally have the same face model? Kitana and Mileena at least make sense but that shit is inexcusable.

I know you're joking but as someone who also typically finds Asian women beautiful I had to say it. I don't even necessarily think they're ugly, the same face syndrome is just impossible to ignore.

I would use the world "ugly", specially for what I would hope in videogames, my yellow fever doesn't even register these designs. But we both know attractive women are haram and even when they tried, NG has a horrible batting average with that.

They've already done that with how Liu Kang felt about being killed and couldn't get over it and Raiden's own personal issues involving that. It was the main story with 10. Since that time liu Kang has been a whinny bitch. Even more so than Kung Lao

It would only make sense if they do the same thing Legacy did with King Jerrod and have him have decoys that look like him when he was on the run.
This just tells me they have little understanding on how UE5 works.

I'm not much for Shao Kahn having horns. Sure he was obviously something more than human, with the later games giving him reptilian features like the small horns and such; but I'm not for him having that full rack of Goat horns, and that little strip down the middle of his dome. They're also doing a disservice to the females by trying for a more hyper-realistic look; Sindel looks like an Asian past her prime, where they wake up one day and they're just different... and I have no clue why they decided to do whatever the fuck it is they did with the other three girls. And I'm not sure what it is, but compare Sindel in cutscenes to in game, specifically her fatality at the end. In the fatality, it's either just a bad camera angle, or she gains weight when she fights.

I don't want to say I fucking called it (because I didn't think Kronika), but I fucking called it. At least in an earlier post where I theorized that Shang Tsung was somehow going to be important and what-not. And it's not because I think I'm big brained, it's just writing time travel/manipulation is hard, and I don't think Boon has it in him.

The women in MK have been struggling since 9. Before that they weren't lookers by any means, but they at least had sex appeal. 9 fucked their faces harder than any fatality could have. X kinda fixed that except for Sonya, but covered them all up to a hilarious degree. Then 11 did whatever the fuck it did to them. And now we have a bunch of look-alikes who aren't good to look at all.

With MK the women are either ugly as sin but half naked, or pretty good lookin and covered up. It makes no sense. They seem to go out of their way to have the men be half decent and exposed to some degree, but now we're lucky if the token harlot Mileena shows some midriff
 
I literally cant bring myself to get excited anymore. I really dont. I havent played MK since X and I just dont feel it with this series anymore. It just feels like something was lost post Armaggedon and MK 11 was the sign that it was truly not gonna get better.

And it doesnt matter because once you introduce time travel to your world, its dead.
For the record, when Harry Potter introduced it, they not only established it was extremely dangerous and immediately closed the door on any further time travel stuff by having all the time turners destroyed.

Even JK Rowlings herself knows that the time turners would create a plothole that could destroy the little internal consistent logic the series has.

Honestly, when compared to the recent installments of Tekken and Street Fighter, I think it’s safe to say that MK was heading this way even when the amount of changing and re-creating popular characters for “modern times” is important than the actual quality and gameplay of the new “MK1” game itself.

Half the YT videos about "MK1" are just story shit and "totally hilaaariiooous and badass" character intros. There's relatively very little actual gameplay. It's the same for MK11 as well. I dunno whether their marketing guys are telling them that catering to story-obssessed fags who will probably never buy the game is more profitable than fans who want to play it, but imo it paints a very sad picture of the state of the franchise.


It would've been so cool to see straight up remasters of all the MK games from MK1 to Armageddon instead of this. Maybe do what they did with MK9 and have all characters from MK1 to UMK3, keep the focus on story minimal and really go all out on the characters (without redesign) and movesets.

This is off the top of my head but didn't he have a fatality in MK 9 where he puts his hands through your torso, pries it open and then does the Shining face peek thing through the hole with "here's Johnny"? Is the one in 11 just like that?
